Food finds!
Oh sorry, yeah I was talking about pb2. Hy Vee has a Health food section in their store and that is where I found it.
-
Food finds!
I believe Hy Vee is just a Midwest grocery store, but they sell it in their health food section it's only 3.99 and you don't have to pay any shipping. Might not hurt to check you local grocers heath food section, it is good stuff!

Inches vs. Pounds....
Wow, I am really glad you posted this, I was wondering what's going on with me. The scale is moving sooo slowly, but I feel great and that is what I keep telling myself. I have gone from a 20 to a 16 but probably could squeeze into a 14 now but want to wait. I had to go buy a new coat which surprised me because I bought this coat a few years ago when I was weighing what I weigh now but it is way too big. That is when I was knew something was weird was going on. I do have to admit that it is NOT from gaining muscle because I have not been exercising. (I know this is bad but I do hair and stand on my feet and by the end of the day my back and feet do not feel like working out!) John you are doing so awesome congrats on your success!!

2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences
Hello everyone. I just had my third fill on Monday, and I think this one might have done the trick. My first fill and second fill was 2.5 cc's and my third one was 1.5 cc's putting me at 6.5 cc's. With the first two fill's I had not felt any restriction at all. Now I feel like I finally have some. I feel like for the last 3 months I didn't even have the band. Although I lost about 10lbs before surgery and 13lbs the 1st week after surgery I've only been losing 2-3 lbs a month for the last three months. But as of yesterday I have lost 30 lbs! Yeah! That also put me in WONDERLAND, YEAH!!!! Today I weighed and I have lost 2 lbs in just 2 days, I know that will not continue, but I am hoping that I will finally start losing the average 2lbs a week that I have been hoping for since surgery.

So it's been a while since we've all had our May surgery...
Hey Ann, I've tried several times to get in sooner, but appointments are always booked out 4 weeks at a time. I asked this time when I got my second fill why we have to wait so long to get in for a fill if we know within days if we have restriction or not. He said they are really booked and unless there is a cancellation it's nearly impossible to get in any sooner. I received 2.5 cc's my first time around and 2.5 cc's this time around as well. He said he will start backing off and start with .5 cc's next time, so it might take a while for restriction but I'm hoping to get there sooner than later. I'm ready to start losing weight. I haven't been on line much. I used to be able to get online at my old job, but started a new job the 1st of june and there is no computers there. When I get home I get online and read post but haven't much felt like posting. Maybe if I had more exciting news I would post more.

So it's been a while since we've all had our May surgery...
Here is my update. I just got my second fill on 7/28 and it still feels like I don't have any restriction. I am now up to 5 cc's. I had surgery on 5/6 and had to reschedule my 1st fill do to a out of town funeral. I am down 23 lbs which is better than nothing but I am only losing about 2 lbs a month. I'm looking forward to the 10 lbs a month average, but at this point I would be happy with 5. Other than not having restriction I feel pretty good. I scars are still really itchy after 3 months of surgery so i guess that means they are still healing. No hair loss so that is a plus. This is a great thread it's great to see how everyone else is doing>

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos
Well I finally received my first fill on 7/2 (was supposed to get it on 6/16 but had to reschedule) I only received 2.5 cc's and am still not feeling any restriction. I was hoping since I am already 2 months out the would give me double what the normally do, but no such luck. I go in for a follow up on 7/28 I feel like I am never get to the point where I am going to start losing weight. I am hoping this fill will at least help with my hunger a little bit. Too soon to tell since I have just had shakes yesterday and mushies today.

SMMC LB support group chicas
Congratulations on getting the band! I was supposed to get my first fill on 6/16 but had to postpone it due to my husbands grandmother passing away. Her funeral was out of town and on the 16th. I am now getting my fill on July 2nd. I lost 13lbs the week after surgery and only 2lbs since. I have no restriction but am hoping things will change one I get my fill! Good luck on your journey!

Frustrated with the small amounts of food? I am!
Hey Ann, I haven't had my first fill yet, I was supposed to get it on the 17th but had to go out of town for a family funeral. My fill has been rescheduled for July 2nd. Can't wait!. Anyway I had 2 slices of pizza the other day, and it was so good. I started thinking how bummed out I would be if I would not to be able to eat the whole thing. I even wanted to eat more. I didn't stop because I was full but was using self restraint. I know the band will help with the physical part, but what about that emotional "I want to eat part" I wish they would come out with a band for the brain! I am hoping once I get my fill, that the "nothing taste as good as thin feels" mentality will kick in! That and actually losing weight might help also. I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now.

Not for the squeamish or shy...
Well I have added a little fiber to my diet, but not much. I'm still not going potty (3 times since surgery). I live in a small town with no walmart and haven't been in a while. Been meaning to get me some benifiber. I do have a family dollar but they don't sell anything but laxatives. I have never had to use them before, but I have heard that alot of people use them to lose weight, so I said what the hey. Well I took one last night before bed, and woke up about six-thirty cramping. I was sweating and cramping and cramping and sweating, farting, sweating and more cramping. I thought I was going to pass out. Then finally I did the deed. First in solid form then came the hershy squirts. Way TMI!!! I don't think I'll be taking laxatives ever again!!! Gentle my #**. On a possitive note, I lost 1.8lbs LOL

Too Much Liquid?
I was never told to have 2 oz at a time. They may have just been being cautious at first. I was able to drink as much Water and juice as possible and as many Protein shakes as I could tolerate. I even called my nutritionist to double check. Hope this helps. PS I wasn't allowed soup until day 4, so you were already ahead of where I was when you were in the hospital

Suggestion / Idea
I was thinking the same thing, great idea! How about having a Friday weigh in?

Cool Tools
You all may have already heard of these things, but I thought I'd share just in case. I have been reading some post in other areas of the forum and in the fitness one they were talking about some gadgets that help you keep track of calories in and calories burned. One was called a bodybugg, another was called ActiTrainer food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate I checked it out today and it's really cool and also free. I hate keeping a food journal, but this made it incredibly easy because most everything is already in a data base and you just search for what you ate and select it to add it to what you have eaten that day. Their data base is awesome, you can even select what brand of something you had. It has all kinds of fast food restaurants, it also keeps track of your Protein intake. Really cool! Anybody else come across something cool they might want to share.

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?
I am now able to start real food now and have been wanting to try the KFC grilled chicken. Guess I won't waste my money on that now. Skin??? Really??? In all honesty I haven't been chomping at the bit to move on to solid food. I've been pretty satisfied with eggs, cheese, oatmeal and such. My favorite snack is cottage cheese with sf orange Jello and mandarin oranges. I had a slice (dare I say it) of pizza on the 27th (my son's 16th b-day) but just ate the topping off of it.

HELP! Is this normal?
I was feeling good by day 4 but still not 100% I didn't feel really good until about my 2nd week. It took me awhile to be able to sleep on my left side because of pain. I am at 3 weeks now and am almost 100% better although if I bend the wrong way too quickly my port site is still a little tender. I feel no restriction and feel like I can eat anything, but I have been being careful because I don't want to risk messing anything up. I think others just have more swelling and some doctors put a small fill in at the time of surgery. One thing I have learned from this forum is how different we all are when it comes to this band. Good luck on your journey!

Omg!! This is crazy!!
Hey Rman and Gunner I too freaked out when I was finally approved for the band. I was really trying hard to be good, but then I would convince myself to go ahead and eat cause I won't be able to do it later. I lost 2 lbs in four weeks. But once I had surgery I was good as gold and didn't cheat once. I'm now down 19 lbs since my 2 day pre op diet. Gunner - Back in 2005 I was approved for Gastric Bypass but not the lap band. I was really disappointed and decided I wasn't going to let a denial get me down. I lost 40 lbs, took me about 9 months and kept it off for about a year. Slowly started gaining it back until I had gained all but 10 lbs back. I have never had a difficult time losing weight, just keeping it off.

Suggestions Please,New to site
In 2005 my insurance would cover GB but not the band. There was no way I was going to reroute anything. I also have a friend who had GB and lost a lot of weight and rather quickly. She had to have surgery for all of her lose skin. She also has absorption problems has to get Iron transfusions that take all day, her hair which used to be long and think is now very thin and in horrible shape. She has all these problems, and is now starting to gain her weight back. She is now saving her money so she can get banded. All that said, she has a sister that had a GB and only had 1/2 as much to lose as her sister and does not have any of the problems her sister has. There is another forum called obesity help and they have people on there that have had all different WLS. I would talk to both sides and talk to others that were a little more brave to see how they feel about their decission to go with the GB.
