  1. I'm in the suburbs of Twoterville. I'm hoping to move into the 'ville by next month! I've got a VG with 6 cc's and I think I finally have some restriction. I think I may ask for a little more fill at my next appointment though. Perhaps 1 cc more and I'll be good to go! I have about 16 pounds to go and I'm really trying to get there. Once I do I think I'll feel like I'm really starting to accomplish the dream of making my way to "overweight" status!! I'm not thinking I'll ever get to a "normal" weight but if I can atleast drop "obese" from my medical history I will feel wonderful!! I've dropped down from "super obese" down to just plain old "morbid obese". Funny how that's exciting but sad at the same time!!!! Good luck everyone...I hope we're all moved into our new neighborhood soon. We'll throw a Twoterville block party when we're all there!!!!
  2. Sounds good to me...I'm in! I'll look for it!
  3. We're in the race together because I am exactly where you are. I really, really would love to be back in twoterville before my next appointment in the middle of July. Think we can do it?? You're right tho...that would be a pretty impressive loss for a month and I don't want to get disappointed if I can't make it. That would be awesome to hit that goal. I think about it all the time because it's my first "mini goal" and I really want to get there! GOOD LUCK!!! I'll keep sending positive vibes your way...please do the same for me!!!
  4. I think so! I did read somewhere that estrogen is stored in fat cells and that it can get released during weight loss. Any way, I also had about a two week stint where I was overly emotional. I swear it wasn't "mental" it was chemical. Weird huh? The good news is...mine mysteriously cleared up just as quickly as it came on.
  5. There are lots of reasons for why we get "off track" :faint:with stuff in our lives. But, it's time to snap out of it, girl!! Even if you're at a point where you're happy with your weight then you will forever need to continue making healthy eating choices for yourself ...OR...lapband or not...those sixty pounds COULD come sneaking back and you don't want that, right? You can do it! Even if you can't fit in gym time like you used to at least focus on eating healthy again and it may spark you to get back into the gym. GOOD LUCK!!
  6. Wow, that is exactly what is happening to me. My doc offered to send me to another specialist for neurontin but I declined because I've read about serious side effects from it and I tried it years ago for herniated discs but never thought it did much for me. So...it sounds like yours never went away??? My doc estimates 6 months for the nerves to regenerate. I cannot image having this forever. It is the strangest feeling Numbness/Burning/Itching all at the same time sometimes! UGH! Well, whoever hears of a solution first please share!! I do think the B12 complex I'm taking has helped decrease my symptoms. Now, it's mainly a burning sensation and less numbness. Thanks for all the thoughts everyone!
  7. Me too...I had one tiny piece come out from my port incision then a pretty big piece surfaced later from another incision. It looked like a loop of fishing twine sticking out of my skin so I gently tugged on it and it popped right out. That was several weeks ago and my doc says they look fine. I guess as long as it didn't hurt or look "bad" then I would guess that you're fine too! Weird stuff, huh?!
  8. Thanks, Sunta! I'll check into it.
  9. I agree, I just had my first fill and did liquids the first day then tried mushies the next and then felt fine. Two weeks seems a little overly cautious...are you sure you didn't misunderstand--maybe your doc meant two days??
  10. I was told that sugar free is always the better choice than "no sugar added" so that's what I stick to. I had "no sugar added" juice though because I couldn't find any sugar free juice. I drank A LOT of juice the first few days. I also bought sugar free hot cocoa. The warm liquid felt good to my sore tummy. You sound like you are on the right track. One word of caution...I personally had purchased WAY, WAY more stuff than I actually used. I ended up giving away a lot of food because I just wasn't hungry for the first two weeks. I'd stock up for a few days just so you don't have to go shopping right after surgery but don't worry about really stocking your pantry until you see how your appetite is during your immediate recovery. GOOD LUCK!!
  11. My doc also says "No" for multiple reasons. But, someone in my support group said that they tried it and it really hurt bad. I've not tried it, I'm too scared! I've read many people on this site who said that it's OK if you let it go flat but then what good is that?? Part of the "thrill" for me has always been the fizz! LOL.
  12. I use ediets. They have a nutrition tracker that allows you to enter in everything you eat then record any daily notes (I enter in my water and excersize notes for the day) then they have a nutrition analysis for each day that calculates everything into a summary like you see on food labels except that it's for a full day. I think I pay $5/month but it's worth it to me.
  13. I'm just curious if anyone else out there experienced the same complication as myself during their surgery. Apparently they use "seat belts" to strap you to the OR table. One of the belts pinched a nerve in my leg and ever since surgery my left thigh has been numb. I'm hoping this means my leg is now healing, but it really burns. I guess of all the possible complications you could get from surgery that this is very minor; however, it isn't exactly pleasant. Did anyone else suffer this complication? I've been told there is really nothing that can be done to speed up the healing. I'm taking a B-complex daily because I read that it helps with nerve function but I'm open to any suggestions that may help! Thanks!
  14. I'm sorry, I try to be a positive person so, I'm not trying to tick you off Melanie but you have got to be nicer to yourself. I've read this entire thread and seen you refer to yourself with some pretty nasty comments. You want to know the "trick" to success? I truly believe that the majority of my success comes from the fact that I had to look deeply inside myself and decide that I am WORTH it to change my lifestyle. No, I'm not proud of what my body looks like but I still love myself for my values and character and know that I deserve to do my best. You can take my advice or tell me to shove it but I don't care how many calories or carbs or exercise you do...none of it matters if you don't believe in yourself and let your body work WITH you for once. The human body is not meant to melt pounds away like butter in a frying pan...if that were true NONE of us would have needed surgery. You will never consistently lose weight...I wish that weren't the case but it is and it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. I understand it gets frustrating at times. I've bawled at my surgeon's office over it. You know what he told me? He said he was disappointed that I felt this way because his goal is for his patients to feel BETTER about their life after surgery. You know what? When I thought about that for a minute I realized...no I'm not supermodel but I AM doing something positive for myself and the scale is atleast moving in a healthier direction now. And just like I've read a million times before on these boards...it didn't take 2 months to get fat so why in hell would we expect it to come back off that fast. I'm sorry for the long post but this thread has me really upset. I don't like knowing that you are in this much pain. I'm giving you a cyber-hug with some advice from my heart...do with it as you like.
  15. Congrats! I'm getting there too and I can't wait! Good job!
  16. That's the spirit, Kathy! Keep up the good work!
  17. You seem to be right on track. I agree with the other posters...calories look good, carbs looks OK too...according to my doc the carbs should be roughly in balance with calories but protein should always be a little higher. Your weight loss is excellent too. If you are doing that much excersize then you are probably gaining muscle which weighs more than fat. This is a good thing although the numbers on the scale may not "appear" to be going down because of the muscle gain. My doc made me PROMISE not to weigh myself for the exact reason you are struggling with...so I agree with the other posters...don't weigh yourself daily. Try weekly but better yet, monthly. If you continually think you're failing then soon you will. Stay positive and see the accomplishments you've made because they're great!
  18. If you're at a friend's house for dinner and you have to refuse the drink offer because it will delay dinner...you might be a bandster. If your family thinks bad weather follows you around because all they hear are the rumblings of thunder coming from your belly....you might be a bandster. If you'd rather throw away your old clothes than give them away and let someone see what size you wore...you might be a bandster. If you feel like a turkey with the button that pops up the closer it is to being "done"...you might be a bandster. (Note...I'm looking forward to seeing that port pop out...can't feel it yet!) These were my futile attempts at humor...I am getting a kick out of this thread! You guys are too funny!
  19. LOL! I have problems dealing with the "Bitchinator" too! Every day we just have to do our best and just try to make the best choice we can when we have a craving for something on the "off limits" list! Don't beat yourself up...I've cheated once too because of that darn "Bitchinator"...ice cream birthday cake, a big ol' slice too. But, I had to pick myself up and dust myself off and go on. The following month I HAD, HAD, HAD to have some chocolate so instead of another ice cream cake disaster, I had a small piece of chocolate and told myself to be happy with it and I was! Hang in there! You're human!
  20. Congrats! You're doing great!
  21. I've started eating Special K -Protein Plus cereal. I think it's new...at least it's new to me. I use fat-free Lactaid as the milk. It is yummy and is easy for me to get down in the morning.
  22. My surgeon required a week of liquids...low fat, low sugar liquids. The liquid diet preps your liver for the surgery. It will allow your liver to shrink in size which makes your surgery easier. The surgeon needs to lift your liver up off of your stomach in order to have room to install the band. Without the liquid diet there is a pretty good chance that your liver will be blubbery and hard to manage. (When someone is inside my body working I want to make sure my organs are as orderly as they need!! Ha Ha) Good luck on the surgery!!! Congrats!
  23. I thought I could feel mine but my doctor said it is scar tissue. I actually had my very first fill this morning! He could not find my port at first. It took him a long time, but he found it. Luckily, even though he struggled hard to get that fill in, it was all PAINLESS to me. I hope your experience will be as well. Don't worry, your doctor will find your port too!
  24. I did it! I got my first fill today! I'm doing liquids for the rest of the day so I don't know what impact it's had yet but we'll find out this weekend. I had a bad headache this afternoon and took some tylenol and I think it almost got stuck. I could feel it sitting there but it went down. The fill didn't hurt at all...I'm relieved to finally know what that process feels like!
