  1. Thanks everyone for the nice compliments! I was pretty happy about getting back into Twoterville and I needed to share! It's a great feeling to actually have a new lifestyle (and not just some fad diet) helping me accomplish what I've failed at for so long. I'm really happy that I have my band. I still feel like I'm working pretty hard but knowing that this "thing" is inside me for a purpose and it keeps me on track. You guys are awesome and I'm proud of all of us!
  2. Holy shmoly!! 97cc's???? What is that like 9.7 completely full bands worth???!!!! Ha Ha. WOW! I bet you did lose a pound! It sounds like you're feeling better now so that's good news. Thanks for the update!
  3. Yep, I agree...talk with your surgeon about weight restrictions. My surgeon said a week then I was free to go about my normal routine. As far as going back to work/school...I could've gone back after about 4 days but luckily I had surgery over my vacation so I had a full week and didn't have any problems.
  4. I'm an April bandit and I recently made a small victory that I'd like to share...I'm back into Twoterville!
  5. So cool...we're getting there everyone! Good job and congratulations! Next stop...250!
  6. Congratulations! I just made it there myself and it feels great! My mission would be 250 by Thanksgiving/Christmas too! What a great holiday gift to ourselves, huh?! Good luck on your journey!
  7. I've not experienced that feeling. Have you talked to your doctor about it? Stress can make strange stuff happen to you but I'd probably call to make sure. Good luck!
  8. Wow, I'm sorry you're gong through this. I'm glad you got it checked out and atleast they know what it is and have a plan to fix it. Good luck!
  9. Count me in! I've been checking each morning. One one hand it helps keep me on track but on the other hand it keeps me obsessed. I think I'm going to force myself to go back to once a week for awhile. I spent years not looking at a scale and now it's sitting out in my bathroom like a piece of furniture!
  10. I'm here!! I've been wondering what happened to the team too! So, how's it going for you? I'm proud of you for giving up the scale for awhile. It is the hardest habit to break! My doc made me promise I wouldn't check and I didn't for the longest time, but now I can't stop checking each morning and it's driving me crazy. I think I need some of your willpower!!
  11. I agree with everyone. Getting a fill causes swelling and irritation so that's why you should go to liquids for at least a day following a fill. Your body needs time to adjust. If liquids go down OK for the first 24hrs then I move onto mushies for at least the first meal or two and if that seems to be OK then I'm pretty much back to normal eating again. You gotta take it slow following a fill until you have a chance to heal and to see how tight you are.
  12. Perhaps your calorie intake is too low? I don't go below 1200/day. I'm not preaching but I think trying to get some sort of exercise going may spark a boost in metabolism. That's what I'd try...eat a little more and exercise more, even if it's just walking around the block.
  13. My PCP didn't have to do anything to my knowledge. She knew about it because I told her I wanted to work with a Bariatric Center but I haven't even seen her since February.
  14. I never thought I would have restriction but it took a nice fill and it came! It is really hard at the beginning until you get to a good fill level so you just have to hang in there and do your best.
  15. Congrats and good luck! I'm happy things are working out for you.
  16. Sorry you had to go through that but I'm glad your date is settled. Good luck and happy healing!
  17. I thought mine was a "lump" too but my surgeon said it was just scar tissue and 4 months later it's still there and it's still huge. My port is nowhere near the port scar or lump. But, if it's worrying you then definately let your doctor take a look.
  18. I don't think it matters. Thin people can have bad eating habits too so who cares what size your parents are. If you gave honest answers then mission accomplished!
  19. Don't worry. Just be yourself. I think one of the main goals is to be sure you are "emotionally ready" for all the changes you'll be going through and to verify that you don't have any misconceptions about the weight loss like "I'm gonna lose all my weight in three months then my life will be perfect." That's mainly what my eval was aimed at determining. We talked about my weight history, why I thought this surgery was the best option for me and how I expected my life to change afterward. No biggie!
  20. I had the same problem when I first started out. Once you return to a normal diet it improves! I call it "diet breath"!
  21. I agree with PhotoNut. Although I'm glad that you're on good terms with your doctor again, you still seem a little unsure of things in general. It's OK to be nervous about surgery. It is a major deal. I wish you lots of luck and if you have a specific question about the procedure we'll do our best to share our experience.
  22. Guess who snuck into town?! Yep, I think I finally made it! Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement! You guys really kept me motivated! We're a good group here and we'll keep eachother going!
  23. Wow, I was wondering what the outcome was. Well, I guess I'm happy that they know what happened and have a plan to fix it! Good luck!
  24. I maintain an average of 1200/day, usually no less than that. Any less and you risk keeping yourself in a "starvation" mode. My doctor recommends starting off with a reasonable level of food per day because if you start off too low then you will lose weight at first but as soon as you start increasing your food intake then you will start having problems with plateaus. That's just my opinion and it does seem to be working for me.
  25. You have to eat to lose weight. We are the same weight right now and I eat between 1200-1500 calories of good food each day and no junk food at all. You need to eat something for Breakfast, even if it's just a Protein shake. Plus, I eat six times per day. I exercize at least 30 minutes every day. And, I drink as much Water as I can stuff down my throat!! I know you said you have no energy but the exercize will spark both your metabolism as well as a feeling of well-being. If you are really struggling with getting food down then get your band properly adjusted. Instead of eating popcorn, drink a Protein Shake. Yes, Protein shakes are just liquid but atleast they have some solid nutritional value that will help nourish your body. Or, my doctor said soy chips are what he recommends if you really must eat a snack food. Just some ideas for ya! Good luck and let us know what your doctor says!
