For those who count calories!!!

How many calories are we supposed to be consuming a day? Can anyone tell me? I'm usually staying at 1,000 cals/day, but I want to know what you guys out there are doing/recommend for constant weight loss. You guys might think is funny, but I'm on my 3rd week, and am already worrying about being stuck. Haven't lost any since last week. Any input??? :)

I maintain an average of 1200/day, usually no less than that. Any less and you risk keeping yourself in a "starvation" mode. My doctor recommends starting off with a reasonable level of food per day because if you start off too low then you will lose weight at first but as soon as you start increasing your food intake then you will start having problems with plateaus. That's just my opinion and it does seem to be working for me.

That's kind of what instinct tells me to do too - start off eating the MOST calories you can to still lose and gradually cut down as you need to. At first I was losing on 2000 a day, I"ve gone well for ages on 1800 or so and now I think its time to shave it down to a tad under 1500.

That's all guesswork by the way, I just mentally tote things up in my head.

I average between 1000-1200 calories a day. The lowest my surgeon will allow is 800-900 calories a day and more than 1200 is discouraged. Remember, if you're exercising you can take in more calories.

My surgeon recommends 800 calories a day. I am 5 weeks out. I don't know if he will eventually up the amount or not.

I went on Spark People.com. I entered my weight, goals, ect. and they recommended 1450-1600 a day for me. Try it, it might help.
