  1. Yes it will go away, and faster than you think. But getting your fluids in is very important. Eventually you will be able to do more than sip, so you won't feel like you are stuck to a glass all day. You said you are having a difficult time at home? What kind of problems? Give us some more info, so we can help you. And remember everyday does get easier, to me I would like to forget the first 3 days!! Make sure to walk, walk, walk! It really does help, even if it hurts some. Good luck!
  2. Hi Carolyn Thanks for your reply. I so wish I would have had the sleeve first and saved myself a lot of pain & money. The band was nothing short of dangerous, I really wish they would get rid of it. I know that sounds harsh but that is how I feel. Looks like you are doing WONDERFUL!!! The sleeve is so great, love it!
  3. Josephine I'm so surprised that the band is still so widely used. After my experience I did more research and the woes with the band are awful. If I had my choice it would be banned! My pain with the band started 2 months before I actually got it out! I had a small amount and then it just got worse. Why is it that they could not get your port out? Was it that your skin just completely covered it? They had to cut my band out in pieces because my stomach had grown over it so much. You poor thing I feel for you. The port area is where all of my pain started. For all of the pain that the band caused, it sounds like the sleeve is giving you your life back. I sure hope they can get your port out, that will cut down on your pain. The sleeve is awesome isn't it?? I just love it, no problems what so ever!! Good luck to you, and thanks for the reply!
  4. Hey Ready Congrats on your surgery!!! You are going home already? Wow you must be feeling great! So happy for you and welcome to our club!! Okay I feel like a dork, totally missed the fact that you are home already!!!
  5. Hi everyone!! Well I thought I should sit down and spend some time writing about all of my experiences!! Most of you already know me, as I do post a lot! Well I started this weight loss journey about a year ago, did a lot of research but found out not nearly enough!! I have 3 other family members who have had the band not long before me so I thought this would work for me too! WRONG!! I followed all of the rules for the band, ate right did my exercise almost every day and still lost my band! I did very well for about 6 months, I had quit losing at this point tho. I starting having trouble keeping anything down, including water! I sometimes could eat, others could not even take a bite. I started having a little pain in my left side, which progressed to severe pain. I had several tests but no conclusion, I went to a clinic with no bariactric team!! Anyway after quite a few days I called my coordinator and told her my symptoms, she said "oh honey that band needs to come out" I immediately started scheduling my flight back to Mexico. I was there within a week, and had my band out and my sleeve done! What a relief!! I could not even stand up straight because of the pain, the revision relieved all of that! I have to admit surgery was tough, I have had MANY surgeries and this was the worst. I spent 4 hours in surgery, my body had totally rejected the band, and my stomach was a mess. My surgeon "thanks Dr. Almanza" put me back together and no more pain in my side! I'm now 2 weeks out I feel great, I can't believe the amount of weight and inches I have lost!! I love my sleeve, just eat and go! No more slimming, Pb'ing, puking ETC!!!!! I still can't believe I have done this!! My sister is next, she is getting her stinking band out and getting a revision too! To all of you thinking about the sleeve, GO FOR IT!! It is so worth it! Love, love, love my sleeve:thumbup:
  6. I'm so glad to hear you did not cheat, after all you will be the only one that know, but you will KNOW!!! I only had to do 3 days, which I was so sick with my band complications was easy. Now if I would have been healthy and had to do 2 weeks, I would have had a touch time!!! Just think of all of the weight you will lose!! and once you are sleeved it falls off, stick to your guns!! Good luck, and happy losing!

Toni I bet this could have been written by any of us that have battled our weight. I wish that I had all the money I have spent for diets, pills, ETC!!! That is the thing I love about the sleeve, no diets! You can only eat a certain amount of food! You know it is like being NORMAL! I have many thin friends who only eat small amounts and they are done, I'm just like them now!! You will not have to diet anymore, but you will still need to be careful what you put in your mouth. Good luck!!!!!
  9. Hey Key pirate We all know about our "last meal" and we understand completely!!! I look at your list now and forgive me think HOLY COW!!! But that is because I'm 3 weeks out from the sleeve! You will be so amazed at the fact that you won't feel that hunger you felt before, if anything you will feel too full all the time. I can only tell you my experience and so far I LOVE the sleeve. I'm not hungry nor do I think about food all the time, I need to remind my self to eat! If you feel like I do after your surgery, you will be one lucky lady!! I love what it has done and how I feel! I had to have a revision, so I had no regrets about having surgery, just go into it knowing how much better you will feel. How healthy you will be!! Good luck and happy losing!
  10. Hi there I'm 3 weeks out and I LOVE the sleeve!!! I can't even begin to tell you how different it is fro the band! Night and day, I can eat!! I have not had one ounce of trouble and I lost 15 more lbs!!! If you do a revision, you will love, love, love it!! The only change is that you can not over eat! With my band most of the time I could not eat without being sick, when I could eat I had no indication of when to quit. With the sleeve you will get an indication of when you are full. I get a tight feeling in my chest, if i keep going that feeling turns into an actual pain!! Plain and simple, I quit eating. LOVE my sleeve!! Bernadette
  11. Barbara Good for you, getting the drain out will help you a lot. It just seems like you are slower with it! You said you are going home tomorrow, do you have to fly? If so I wish you a speedy pain free flight!! Bernadette
  12. I did not say that I do it all the time, I was an emergency surgery, had to have it done ASAP! I had to cross my fingers and hope they did not detain me. It did help that I was in a vehicle plainly marked Jeruselum Medical!!
  13. Hi Barbara The second day is something I don't talk a lot about, with good reason!! It seems to be the worst, but just think every day from here on out gets better and better!! So glad to hear you have been walking the halls! It really is the best medicine. It is the only thing I could do to keep the gas pains under control! So you got to drink the dreaded blue juice?? You called it apple juice? Man mine tasted something awful! I don't think I could ever compare it to apple juice. Just keep sipping and walking as much as possible, and nap when you feel like it! Good luck and happy losing!
  14. I would call your coordinator and get the addresses that way you can Mapquest them and give you a better idea! We look forward to hearing all about your trip! QUOTE=momof6;29124]I am so happy that I found this forum/blog. I am new to this stuff but I wanted to share that I am scheduled for surgery on Feb. 16. I can't wait. I have learned a lot from reading everyones post's and the suggestions have been very helpful! I have had the best experiance so far with all of the staff at Jerusalem clinic. I was wondering if anyone can help me, I was wondering where in Tijuana is the clinic and the recovery house? My husband is coming with me who speaks fluent spanish but he wants to drive so I wanted to check out where the house and the clinic are for his benefit. I look forward to reading and learning more from everyone. :001_smile:
  15. Dear Phoenix That is just an awesome NSV!!!! I applaud you and the effort! I love the quote you put on your wristband, totally cool!!
  16. Yes I have one regret....that I had the band first!!!!!! That is my one and only regret, the band was a nightmare. I have NO troubles at all with the sleeve. I never get hungry, I don't burp all the time, I have never vomited, I don't slime none of the things that you listed. I just eat and go!! I can gulp liquids too, something I could not do with the band. I love this tool so much, I hope you will as well!!
  17. Congrats!!! Being healthy is such a great feeling!! Good job!
  18. I don't know if you will feel like doing that, what will that make it 4 days after surgery?? I flew home on the 4th day and that was about all I could take. I think you could probably make about an hour but then you would be pooped!! They have a lot of shopping there too, and that does not cost to get into! I would hate to see you pay to get in there and not enjoy it. Good luck to you, and happy losing!!
  19. Barbara Great to hear you are doing so well! Just make sure you walk as much as possible, you heal faster and it cuts down on the gas. You will do great!! Good luck and happy losing!!
  20. Coopersmam If you are bored that is a good sign, means you feel good enough to do something!! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me and I'm bored to death, don't get me wrong I went back to work after a week and got laid off!!! Can you believe it?? I have been at my job almost 11 years, now this!! I have not decided what I'm going to do. I can wait it out till business gets busy again or look for something new....hmm! So to be honest I have been home a week now and I'm ready to pull every last hair out!! I tend to be a little on the high strung side and have lots of energy, what to do, what to do! I walk my dogs at least 2 miles every day, that helps. I have been doing a jog/walk routine. We have a high school right by us so we go there, I let the dogs off their leashes and off they run. I jog 1/4 to 1/2 mile and then walk, then repeat. This is how I always got back into shape after having my kids. It really gets your heart pumping. Planning meals has been tough because it is just hubby and me, and he like full fledged meals!! 6'4" tall. The Kindle was on my wish list untill my band started trying to kill me, hubby even had decided to get it for me andnWallo you will have everything you will need, Good luck!
  21. I'm another band to sleeve revision, if you do some research you will see a LOT of revisions. What does that tell you? I can only tell you my experience with the band and it was HORRIBLE!! Plus I never got to goal, just like your family members. With the band it was a lot of WORK, struggle, pain and just not worth it. I think you are making the best decision you could! I have had my sleeve almost 3 weeks now and I LOVE it!! No messing around, just eat and go! Good luck on your decision, and I'm sure a lot of ex-bandsters will chime in too!
  22. GOOD LUCK!!! You will be done in no time, I will scoot down and leave you a spot on the losers bench!!
  23. On the way into Tijuana they don't even stop you, the car just slows down and they wave you thru. On the way back, you have to sit in line. It took us a little while maybe 20 minutes. No here is the funny thing, I did not have a passport because I had to have emergency surgery. I did take all of my appropriate documentation, but no passport. On the way back into the states I got a butt chewing from the border patrol agent. I explained to him I needed emergency surgery etc. He still felt it was appropriate to give me a long lecture about how long it has been since passports were required!!! As soon as we passed him we all cracked up laughing! I think I'm going to apply for a passport, just in case I might get to have a "real" vacation!!! Good luck to you!!
  24. Barbara & Brenda Just wanted to pop in and wish you a happy surgery day!!! You will be in and out in no time, and on your way to the losers bench!! Just remember as soon as you can, walk, walk, walk!! You heal faster and it cuts back on the amount of gas you have. Good luck and happy losing!
  25. I'm now almost 3 weeks out and I still love my sleeve, I can't believe the difference from the band. I only had my band for 9 months and the last 2-3 months were a nightmare. I love the sleeve, just eat and go!!
