doc in MEXICO
Hi Jewels, I wasn't sure if you were asking me, but you have nothing, absolutely nothing to be scared of. I was a little nervous as well but when there was a very smiley, taxi cab driver with my name on a big piece of paper, stood there and greeted me in Monterrey, I felt an overwhelming feeling of relief. Everything was happening exactly as the patient coordinator stated. I chose Dr. Rumbaut, after googling "gastric bypass". I discovered that there was a Doctor in Mexico, who gave the best service, per the testimonials and at a reasonable cost. I did further research and actually did a who's who on him. I called their office after hours and recieved an immediate response the next day. I loved their coordinator. She was very informative as well as spoke from her own experiences. Everything just felt right. That's why I picked him. It was the response, the reputation, the "very clear pre-op, post-op instructions and Q&A's" it was everything. Everything was covered and all of my questions answered. I can't make you make up your mind. Only you truly know what you need to do for yourself. For me, I didn't feel I had a choice. I needed something and this was it for me. The surgery went very well, some pain after the surgery but that is expected. I experienced gas pockets but Malox fixed that in 1 day. Put it this way, I went to Monterrey alone. No one came with me. I left, alone with my 2 bags and 1 extra one from doing some shopping. I felt great enough to do it all on my own. So can you.

Secret Inspiration Clothes
Ok, someone posted something earlier today that had me thinking. She mentioned that she had a pair of Levi's (inspiration pants) hanging in her closet. I actually did too but the hubby doesn't know. I haven't lost enough weight yet where I am comfortable showing before's and after's but I can show you my goal in full color These pants are symbolic to me, resembling hope and triumph. I take full responsibility in myself, in ensuring that I reach that goal. As you can see, it's a slow day for me here at work (at home) and I wanted to share my inspiration. I got these hot slacks that I wore maybe 4 times right before I got pregnant. They are a size 10. They are my inspiration. Currently I am in a size 18w but since the surgery on 04/11/2006, my pants are starting to fall off my hips and are even baggy Progress.... 1lb at a time. What's your inspiration?

Hey and thanks Seminole for the compliment. I am currently still on liquids and per my doctors recommendations. Dr. Rumbaut stated that 3 weeks of liquids will give the tissue around the band, time enough to scar well. He said it takes approximately 1 good month for this to happen. I don't want adhesions or slipping issues therefore I am holding out. Being on a full liquid diet is not as bad as I thought. I do have hunger issues for food, only when I cook for my family though. I started at 240lbs, and I lost 8lbs before I went to the Bahamas on 4/5/06 - 04/09/06 and gained 3lbs back:faint: . Then in Mexico, I weighed in at 235lbs, so I lost really only 5lbs. Crazy thing though, from 4/10/06 (weigh in day at pre-ops) I was 235 and when I got home on 4/14/06 I weighed 226lbs. I lost 9lbs, that was 2.25lbs per day . My scale is new. I actually bought a $40.00 scale and bought a commercial digital scale that goes up to 300lbs. Both were accurate. Since I've been home, I've lost an additional 7lbs, (haven't weighed myself in a few days, wanna wait till Tuesday, April 25th, tomorrow - my 2 week anniversary.) I hope I lost more. I was also told that it's normal to lose alot of weight the first few weeks to a month, but I am working my ass off too. I bike an average of 10miles per day. Some days 7 miles, other's 12 - 15. I walk a minimum of 2 miles per day. In the morning I walk 2 miles on my treadmill and in the evening, around 5pm, I set out on my bike and go. I can get 12 miles done in 1 hour and 5 min. I try to race the dark I have my Spiru-tein shakes and dannon light yogurt drinks and a bunch of Water. (Always on the toilet) This is how I'm doing it. I hope this helps you.

divorce
My husband (what is DH?) is very happy for me that I am losing the weight, however, he is paranoid as hell now. He knows, that in the 6 years we've been together, I have never and would never..compromise our marriage. I'd leave first before I did anything foolish. In the same retrospect...I am worried. Daily I am dropping weight and inches and i am busting my ass too. I am discouraged at times when I see him not ever making an effort to join me or to even do anything but work, sleep, eat and.... He is 5ft 8inches (my shorty) and he's afraid to tell me his weight but I do believe it's about 260 or more. I am not the only one in here that needs to lose the weight. For me personally, I am soo afraid that when i do hit my goal or on my way to it, I may want to surround myself more...with people that have the same lifestyle..Healthy and active. I feel bad and this will sound horrible but, I am upset with him for not making some effort. As I bust my ass on the treadmill and have my Protein shakes, I see him in the living room eating a bag of cheetos and watching TV. I don't want to judge him because I know how it feels, and still feels, but at the same time, it breaks my heart to see that he's not with me..mentally on the weight loss goals. Am I a bad person for thinking this?

I am making a public promise.
ROFL, @ (hang in there precious Levis...momma's comin) Omg! Why did I do the same thing? Actually, my thing is, I've never gotten rid of my size 10's and I dug them out of the garage and washed them, hung them up in my closet. Nice banana Replubic pants..sexy and black. I could wear them before my pregnancy back in 2001. Momma's comin too baby. Hang in there for a few more months. Momma needs a new bag too! lmao;)

My husband wanted me to ask this.
LMAO, ROFLLLLL! This thread had me cracking up. Mind you, this is not justification, this is strictly how I am answering the question. Here's a typical day for me: Computer stays on all day ( I own a small Medical Consulting Firm and my desk and computer is my money maker. I bring home most of the bacon here. Trueness, probably why I got so overweight. Just running the business, sitting all day and trying to do everything myself.) I keep the forum up now, since I discovered it. I am a new bandster and am extremely curious, happy and interested in all of my fellow bandsters experiences, etc. Keeps me motivated, shows me what others are doing right and wrong. I run my household, i.e., cook, clean, wash clothes (daily), kids (need I say more?) I make a 100% positive effort to work out every day now. Been that way for over 1 month. I put in 1 - 3 hours of workout each day. Truth is, once I realized my faults and woke up, or once I got the calling, I have been on the move. Remember this..... everything...in moderation. (get it? lol) food - in moderation Computer - in moderation Nagging - in moderation Exercise - not in moderation (only exception to the rule) Sex - errmmmm

Jess, Seeing your pictures made me feel overwhelmingly joyous. Seeing that someone else, who went through what I am currently going through, "the fight" come out in the end, looking absolutely terrific. It's not about being skinny, it's about being confident, feeling and looking good. Those pictures were truly and inspiration to me, to all of us. Thank you for sharing, truly You looked incredible in your before shots as well. Pretty fantastic!

Banded 4-10-06
Hey! You were banded the day I had my pre-ops. I was banded on the April 11, 2006. Lost 21lbs so far (5 prior to surgery). Tip, stay away from high sodium chicken broth. It will make you retain Water. Drink alot of water, at least a gallon per day. Exercise. Since my return home on 04/14/06, the very next day I was on my bicycle and riding it around town. I walk on the treadmill too. I have no port pain, only when I am biking too hard. Don't be scared to exercise.

What is your food weakness, (demise)?
LMAO, this is too funny. It's almost like those foods are calling us...some sort of evil plan to take over our world.
-
What is your food weakness, (demise)?
I am such a potato chip (Doritos, Salsa Flavor) Peanut butter - ice cream, candy or jar of this but I am just a big nut for peanut butter Since surgery I have been really good. I don't go around, eat or even shop in these aisles anymore. :clap2: Question too, are there any people that are nearing their goal weight but are having problems with the last 10 - 15lbs? If so, do you think that your favorite food plays a part in the resistance?

Ignorant People Irritate me!!!

Central Florida Lapbandsters?
Hey Susan, I am so excited for you that you will be banded in just practically another week! I pray that all goes well for you. Go into it with a strong mind and don't worry too much. That's what I did, I prayed as well and I have had no complications thus far. I'm doing very very well. I feel great, energetic and not really hungry much, just when I smell food cooking I am soo happy to have made this decision. How's Leesburg? I know Mt. Dora is up the road here. Too bad you weren't closer. Please do keep in touch, let us know how things go for you. Word of advice, the day of your surgery, after you wake up and for at least a few days after, make sure you have Gas X or Malox plus. Myself and a few other girls in Monterrey experienced painful gas in our upper gastric, chest and possibly esophagus area b/c of the bubble pockets. It will subside in a or so. I drank soo much Malox that I passed all of the gas in 1 day. The other girls weren't so lucky, taking them 2 - 4 days to do so, (I kept in touch with them after we left for home). They are fine now but after complaining to the doctor about chest pains..... Doc told them to drink more malox and yep... it did the trick. MALOX OR GASX, highly recommended. That is all I can say, everything else was a breeze. I'll pray for you

Central Florida Lapbandsters?
Awesome Melody, and might I add you are doing rather well! Wow, that's almost 1lb a day. I don't know many people dropping 1 - 2.5lbs per day but we are! We rock! I pray my momentum of losing this weight doesn't slow down. I know where Orange City is, it's not that far. So, how are you losing your weight? Are you sticking to strictly liquids? Are you exercising? Ever crave food? I found that I get hunger pangs, but it subsides and I don't get up in the middle of the night anymore. Soo much to talk about.
