  7. I count my 5lbs prior to surgery b/c when I realized I wanted to have the WLS is when I began to try to lose on my own. 2 weeks into it prior to surgery and I lost 8lbs in doing so, however I went on vacation 5 days before surgery and when I returned home, I had gained 3 of it back. The 5lbs I lost of the 240lbs was indeed a direct effort on my behalf to lose. I count it in. It should never be dismissed. Therefore at pre-ops, 235lbs was my "weigh in" number. Amy, I'm glad you are counting your 60+lbs lost prior to surgery. You are doing and will be doing great! I lost 4lbs today from my 6.5 - 7 (definately 6.5 but I think maybe more since I added an extra route home) and I'm going to count it in. 175lbs today, whoo hooo
  8. Oh yeah girl! These songs make you dance while you bike, lift, run... I have been known to shake my shimmy ..shoulders a bit during the routine
  9. Greatdame you rock girl! Your message counter inspired me. I remember when running just for 5 minutes really almost killed me. That was weeks ago. You are doing great and I'm estatic to read you are making a gym room at home. That's hot! I'd love to come check your bed and breakfast out and do the marathon or walk-a-thon. Details. I need details.

  16. I was never obese, but rather teetering from normal weight to slightly overweight. For my height, 145lbs is overweight by 10lbs. Growing up, I was the most active kid in the household. I played Field Hockey (Capt. of the team 4 years), Tennis (3rd string), Track and Field (shot put and 55 yard dasher- sprinter), Drill Team (J.R.O.T.C.), then swim team in college. I was in the best shape of my life, even after I had my son right after highschool graduation. Before I got pregnant with my son in 1994, my weight was in the 120's. I skyrocketed to 205lbs at my highest weight while carrying him. I lost all of my weight in 3 months, hitting the gym daily like clockwork. For years the weight stayed off, till 2001 when I got pregnant again. In 2002, after I had my second child, my weight shot up to a whopping 240lbs. That's almost gaining 100lbs during pregnancy. After she was born I began to lose weight and went down to 209lbs. Somehow, during the 4 years post delivery, I gained every single pound back up to the highest weight of 240. It's almost as if my body remembered the weight and just wanted to go back there. I think that the decision to have the lapband surgery hit me hard last December, after I turned the big 3 0. I realized that I could no longer say "I'm still in my twenties". I also realized that I could no longer use my daughters birth as an excuse to carry around the excess weight. I knew I needed to do something drastic, weight loss surgery was my only answer at the time. I began to research it. After 4 months of off and on interest in the lapband and gastric bypass surgery I contacted a bariatric surgeon's office. After the first conversation with the coordinator, I made a "Yes" decision. I took out a loan to pay for half of my surgery costs and forked out the rest of the $$ from my savings. My husband is paying for half of my bills for the remainder of the loan which is almost paid off. He's great! Currently I had my surgery April 11, 2006 in Monterrey, Mexico and since have lost 61lbs...59lbs...61lbs. It's been up and down a bit lately but all is well. The downside, which in turn may be a major positive thing later, is that I am losing my hair due to the surgery. I didn't know that hair loss was a side effect of losing weight so fast or hormonal imbalance. But I'm hopeful. I have received several PM's from members telling me that their family members or themselves have lost almost all of their hair after this surgery but have had unbelieve regrowth with full thickness (some thinner). I am taking in lots of Protein and Vitamins. I have an appt with a Dermatologist next week. Whether my hair comes back or not, I would do this again in a heartbeat.
  17. I'm the same weight here. Up and down the same 2lbs. I will try liquids for a few days... Have a few shakes, then soups from Panera.. maybe sneak in a salad but that's it. Dannon light yogurt drinks, fat free pudding.
  18. Stop that! I don't wanna be a hottie I want to be the drill Sargeant that yells and screams at you and kicks your ass. I want to be referred to as.. "Ass Kicker" yeah...that's the ticket!
  19. Yeah.. I'm just concerned. The whole idea of waiting 2 weeks or more, (I waited 5 weeks) was so that your port stitches have time to take... I'm sure your doc told you what to do. When I asked Dr. Rumbaut if I could eat mushies after 2 weeks, he told me it's not really a good idea. He told me to wait as long as I could, 4 weeks preferrably b/c that is roughly the time it takes for the stitches to work and the scarring to complete. He said eating anything too heavy prior to 3 -4 weeks is risky in his eyes.
  20. lol Funny, you are supposed to wait 2 weeks for mushies
  21. Plans for Today 07/14/2006 400 crunches 4 miles on the home treadmill, 2 miles in the street with my little girl - 6 miles total 6.5 mile bike ride
  22. Uggh, I took the picture down. I thought maybe I looked really fat in it. I'll repost it. Ok, it's a ridiculous pic of me flexing.
  23. Psssh, I won't be waiting for a TT. I had this pouch since before kids. It has always been there, no matter how fit I was. I reckon it will always be here. I know it will never shrink down to the way it was when I was 16 years old, flat, innocent and beautiful. Full TT w/Lipo, Breast Augmentation w/lipo
  24. My husband did that to me. I said I don't want anyone to know b/c then they'll expect things and maybe even judge me. What happens? His mother, father, sisters, brother, aunts.. cousins.... they all knew.. asking me about it at a bar-b-que. How dare he! That's just not criket man!
  25. Funny, I went through that phase and it subsided a week later. You'll be ok. It's just your body trying to accommodate all of this new trauma. The port side pain or discomfort, not being able to just...get out of bed... gas and shoulder pain. All new and all temporary. It will be over with in a few days.
