Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
I have not used my card, the only place I would is at a buffet. In a regular restaurant I just order something that I can take home and have a lot of leftovers or I pick off of my DH's plate (he doesn't need it all anyway). I am sure the wait staff wonders if I my meal is ok because it apperas that I am not eating it, then when I ask for a to go box they must think oh she's just no hungry right now, or something, but I don't care. It's good for them to see that not all obese people eat a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs for breakfast and a footlong sub for lucnh with a big bad of chips. I swear that's what they all think.

Huh didn't know that about vitamin C. I've nevre been one to take just vitamin C before. I usde to take just a B complex and that turned mine very bright yellow, but only wiht that, most multi vitamins don't affect my urine at all. Only when I add B's, maybe I'm just wierd then, lol. Other than that I am ready to scream bloody murder at my husband. He had taken 3 dyas off to sit on his arse when rent is due at the end of this week and Phone and electric! He is self employed so if he doesn't go out we don't have money. And he still hasn't gone to the pharmacy and the only money we have at the moment is accessible only by him. I am PO'd I woke up today to find him playing a computer game, ARGH!!! HELLO hasn't he ever learned to be a grown up?

No I just record my food so that I can track my protien and make sure my caories aren't out of control. I however switched to sparkpeople. They make it easier to track your Water, ahem, hehe, jk, and they also have a recipe calculator so you no longer have to log a fraction of every ingredient! Here is the link http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/main.asp That is the main resources page, you have to register same as fitday and it is also free! I used Fitday for most of this last year but switched to spark a couple of weeks ago once i discovered the recipe calculator I was sold. Oh and btw it was me who talked about the color of urine as a determining factor in dehydration(unless there are others talking about it right now too, hehe). However B Vitamins are notorious for making your urine bright yellow, so if you are taking B's then that guide won't work for you. As for an easy way for a non water lover to get in their water is crystal light. This is what I do. I take an old 2 liter, carefully pour in the powder then fill partially with water, cap and shake well, then fill to close to the top. A 2 liter is 67oz and we need 64 per day and a crystal lite pot makes 64 oz, so it all works out perfect, You can take it with you wherever you go. I make a fresh one every morning and I have to finish it before bed. If I don't then the next day once my crystal light is gone then I have to drink plain water. This is what has helped me to get over my diet coke addiction. I like the taste of something sweet in my mouth and switching to crystal lite really has helped me tons.

well caffiene will affect your general hydration level so that could have an affect on your restriction level. Dehydrated usually equals tighter for me, but that's just me, lol. So that would mean if I had caffiene I wouldn't be as hungry, or in my case I'd probably be so tight I couldn't eat more than 2 bites, hehe. I like being tight though, it keeps me from wanting to graze. I just have to force myself to eat when I don't want to to get in enough protien. I am going to stop counting calories for a while and see what happens. I feel myself obsessing over calories and the scale again, still trying to find that mentally healthy place between obsession and total indulgence. Sigh one day LapBandit, you could plateau right where you are through your bandiversary and still be ahead of the 2lbs per week maximum expectation, lol. But I know how it feels to want the scale to keep moving down at a quick pace.

Rasssafrassa, Son of a @!#$%
You will make it I promise, I know it's frustrating waiting now that you know you want to have the band. But the wait won't be forever, just hang in there, you can do it

Just curious
Hmm, I was told by my surgeon that the fattier the liver the harder it would be to work around cause they actually lift the liver during the surgery. The fattier the liver the more difficult and the more chances that the liver could bleed. I naturally assumed that a bleeding and bruised liver could make you feel a bit crappier for a bit longer than normal. Maybe I am wrong in assuming that, but I do know that there is a chance for the liver to bleed from them lifting it to get around it during the surgery.

Nsv!!!!!!!
Yay, congrats It feels so good to slip into pants you haven't worn in ages
-
reasons for slippage..
Ya know I was just wondering today if a serious blow to the abdomen could somehow hurt the band and it's placement. My guess is that it would have to be such a hard blow that your life would be in serious danger, like lots of internal damage. I certainly wouldn't stop riding just because you got the band.

Lap Post Surgery and Sex
Tell him to use the headboard! Ok but seriously, a new thread comes around every few months and that is totally ok by me, they always make me smile, because truly everyone wants to know. You can have sex as soon as you feel up to it, if that's 2 days after surgery go for it. Just don't do anything that is uncomfortable for you. Many women like to hold and add a little pressure to their port site for the first couple of months to help keep it from being irritated from jiggling. For the record I waited till after my stitches were out becuase I had this terrible fear that I was just gonna bust open somehow, but that's just me :guess

April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
Boo I am so glad that you are ok! I am always so scared that something is going to go wrong with our bands. I guess that's only natural. I do have a rule that I follow very strictly ever since my baby PB (I call it that now that I have had one really horrible one) I ablosutely will not eat chicken at any restaurant or from any deli. My biggest fear is sliming in public or worse a PB in public! In the meantime pamper yourself with liquid calories:D hehe I am so bad.

One more day til banded
Yay, congrats I know you must be just bursting at the seams with excitement. I still remember that feeling. Just take a deep breath when you go in and remember it's ok that you will feel crappy and sore for anywhere from 2days to 2weeks (everyone is different) so don't let that get you down. I just kept visualizing how skinny I was gonna get, and it made everything better

Am I just a slow learner? Or did it take you guys forever to learn this, too???
I am almost a year out and I still mess up now and then and eat too fast or a pieces gets by my tongue without being properly chewed. I used to forget and drink too soon after eating or while eating, cause I'd left my water glass on the table. I stopped leaving my glass on the table! Now I never make that oopsy. I guess the bottom line is we all forget sometimes but it does get easier.

Everyone here is or was once in the tri cities (300's) and some of us exited not so long ago, lol, so there is a wealth of infrmation and support with these ladies in how to succeed

Just curious
These are good things to know. I did not have any 6 month pre-op here in the states, I had a 2 week pre-op where I was told to try and lose 10lbs to reduce the fat on the liver. If I had failed it would have been no big deal but possibly a little longer in recovering. I know some docs can be sadistic in what they require, mine is actually humane and very understanding and sympathetic to our plight. I guess I lucked out. But honestly it was my parents that paid for the surgery, we couldn't afford it in a million years, and they would have never paid for an out of country surgery, they'd have been too worried about me. All they have ever heard is horror stories so who could blame them. I was wondering about this in case I ever want to refer someone out of country or if I ever need a revisio of some sort that I can't afford here as parents can't help a second time. Thanks for answering everyone, I am glad to hear of the short term insurance that can be purchased

Road to "TWOterville"
Yay, LapBandit :clap2: I hope this is the right spot for you , I can never tlel for at least a week caues my swelling lasts forever after a fill, lol. Good job Babygrl  wahoo, you are doing great! As for my buffet, heres how it went. I skipped the salad bar as I was feeling a little tight today, so I had my halibut and I had a tiny little thing of spinache quiche, and 2 tiny bites of stuffing (hehe, wanted to try it) and two bites of my DH meatloaf. I decided that since we were going out I was gonna have desert so I went for the no bake style cheesecake with a couple of cherries on top. All in all, I am in bounds for my calories and I got in all my protien. I still need a few more calories and my daily dose of Calcium so tonight I will have sf hot cocoa made with milk for a snack

Just curious
When I was preparing for my band it never occured to me to go out of the states to have it done. I went to the same guy my aunt did and payed a large sum as I was self pay. But for those who go out of the states anywhere, europe, mexico wherever, IF something were to go wrong, what would the recourse be? Here in the states I know we have laws and malpractice and so on, but what if you are going out of country? I am not trying to start a war of stateside or across the border, I am just plain curious. Thanks in advance

Shoulder blade pain
I would say the gallstones, my sis had that several years ago and had hre gallbladder removed as her pain was so bad she could barely move. The doctor said that the gallbladder can be irritated by spicy foods, hope that helps and hope you feel better soon
-
Has this happened to you?
You have been banded what 6 weeks? I don't think your sutures can come undone from eating. What are you eating? Are you eating slow enough? Are you chewing to goo? Tell us more so we can help you better. My first guess would be that maybe something is sticking slightly, not enough to slime or PB just be really uncomfortable.
-
Road to "TWOterville"
Yeah I have one too somewhere, lol. We don't normally go outto eat let alone to buffet's and since it's agift certificate I am not gonna hunt it down Besides with my luck I'd spnd half the day looking for it and then they would be one of the places that doesn't honor it, lol. Believe me if it was our money I'd be finding my card and taking it and demanding that they give me the childs price.

Road to "TWOterville"
Thanks everyone Today was a hard day, who am I kidding it was horrible. I am feeling better after sharing my feelings. I was able to get in all my protien today, yay, despite not really wanting to eat. Food has become a chore, who would have thunk it. Maybe one day I won't even need to track what I eat, I'll just know whereabouts I am at from severe repetition. Tomorrow my hubby says he is taking me out to Old Country Buffet (we have a g.c.) for dinner So knowing what they have I mapped out what I am going to eat ahead of time so I don't have to fret over the choices at the buffet line. I am choosing the baked halibut and a small salad without the needless calories of sunflower seeds, lol. I am gonna have the ranch dressing though . We are gonna pay what like $8 for me to eat $2 worth of food but oh well, it's a g.c. so who cares, lol.

April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
Well originally our bandster class of April 2006 was so big I didn't chime in cause i was shy and didn't know how to jump in in the middle. So here I am now, and while I am not ready to take on such a hefty challenge for excersise, I do want to get to know all of you in my "class" For thoes who don't know me I was banded April 11, 2006 and have officilaly lost 68lbs. I have done this with zero excersise. I am biginning to see that those of you who have lost way more than me did so with hardcore excersise. My back and knees are just now ready to start walking a little bit to build up strength. I totally messed up my back several years ago and it has been a sorese of pain ever since. Pushing the vacuum was enough to have me crumpled on the floor in tears with major spasms before i got banded. Now almost a year later I can vacuum! It hurts a little, but not like it did before, now it just hurts becaues the muscles are week, not because they are spasming, so that is great progress in and of itself. I can now stand at the kitchen sink and do dishes without major pain! A couple of weeks ago I went to the zoo with the kids and walked around for 45minutes without sitting down! I used to have a hard time getting to the gate without crying cause it hurt so bad. My knee is another issue all together, it has had problems since elementary school, and I am always twisting it and making it worse. Sorry this post is so long but just trying to tell you all where I am at. Once upon a time I loved to run and would love to be there again, but I think I need to get used to walks first. I would love to hit goal by my second bandiversary but would settle for being able to excersise and get myself back in healthy shape. I finally have restriction as of last month yay and am back on track after a long plateau caused by not keeping track of what i was eating and cheating too often on goodies that are really bad for me. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and hopefully being up to april's challenge as we pass the 1 yr mark. It is amazing to me that it has been that long. Where does the time go?

Please, please share your ideas...
I agree that you are swollen and irritated from the PB's. Whether 2.8 is too much for you or not I'd say can't be determined yet, but for now you definitely need an unfill so that you can drink. Some people swell more than others, I swell and stay swollen for at least a week after a fill. And being as tight as you are the swelling may have been too much still to proceed to food. After you have healed up I would ask for smaller fills. I know it is a bummer to have to drive for 5hours for a fill but it is better than what you are going throu right now. Till you can get in try sipping hot liquids. Please let us know how you are doing.
