When I had my ultrasound back in February they discovered I had gallstones. I had decided against having my gallbladder out. Now I'm having very mild mid-back and right shoulder blade pain. Could this be caused by gallstones?? I'm not having my lapband surgery until March 19th.

It definitely could be the gallstones. I have them as well and also decided not to have them out. They are not dangerous unless one blocks a duct. You would know that by intense pain, horrible vomiting and fever and janudice. Then you would have to go to emerg. But don't worry that rarely happens.

I don't have any of the other symptoms you described. Just the shoulder blade pain. It's nice to know someone else decided not to have the surgery either. When did you have the lapband surgery?

I would say the gallstones, my sis had that several years ago and had hre gallbladder removed as her pain was so bad she could barely move. The doctor said that the gallbladder can be irritated by spicy foods, hope that helps and hope you feel better soon

My surgery is scheduled for June 6th. I had to wait because I need to have the procedure done in hospital (due to insulin dependant diabetes) rather than in the clinic. I can't wait. I find coming here and reading what everyone else is going through really helps.

Good luck with your banding! Next week - are you on a preop diet?

I would be careful if I were you. Gall Bladder attacks are nasty, and make you very sick. You can only tolerate a few of them before you cry uncle!

If you doctor recomends you to have it taken out, I would listen to him. Gall stones getting stuck in the duct is terrible and can lead to some serious complications.
