Road to "TWOterville"
I have a hard time with pasta, it just isn't a comfortable food for me. Just tonight I realized that bell peppers are on the list for me too. Unless I take the time to remove the skin it just isn't comfotable, it doesn't get stuck but it doesn't go down nicely either. And I am so not peeling bell peppers. Other than that I need to share, I switched from fitday to sparkpeople. They have a recipe calculator, so I no longer have to painstalingly list a fraction of every ingredient in my cooking, this in and of itself is worth it! Also they make it much easier to track your water.

One pound is great! We can't all lose 5lbs every week, dang I wish we could, lol. Look at it this way, I heard once (not sure it's true) that you burn an extra 500cal a day during your TOM :girl_hug:

this is so hard
I too eat for emotional reasons. But for me the band stops me from doing too much damage and I don't do it all the time. I agree the band is only a tool and many people need counselling to help them use that tool to its potential. I think you are doing the right thing to seek help. A counselor might really be the answer for you. Good luck and chin up :girl_hug: Where would you be today if you hadn't gotten banded. I would have probably gained at least 20lbs by now, maybe even more.

First Six Months of Lap Band: Average Weight Loss??
I lost 42 at 6mo not including pre-op diet which put me at 53 total. However I did not have restriction till month 10! At six months I was 25% to goal. I think that it important to remember that your loss will depend on your body, your restriction, and your ability to make good choices consistently. The good news is that it isn't a race, the band is with you forever (hopeully) some reach goal in a year others take 5 years, the important thing is they are happier and healthier  Good luck on your upcomming banding.

What is M/E diet?????
lol, when i did atkins i craved fruit like there was no tomorrow. I only lasted 2 weeks after that, just the smell of meat cooking made me sick. I know a lot of people do well with it and like it but it just wasn't for me. Wehn I read the M/E fast part of the bootcamp thread it reminded me of what I did for my atkins induction, it does work that's for sure, but I'm not one who can follow it and feel good, I became catanonic, and sick and stayed that way.

What is M/E diet?????
Just thinkabout that makes me nauseous. Flashbacks to extreme atkins, I just couldn't do it. Good luck to all who try

Lapband Limbo
Surest way to gain weight is eat a whole bag of peanut m&m's with tall glasses of milk, and for the main food of the day eat an entire bag of chips and dip variety is your choice although for max calories I'd go with potato chips and a sourcream based dip, happy gaining  You will feel terrible the next day but I guarantee you will have gained.

My First 'stuck' episode...now what?
ooh been there and done that. I hope you feel better soon, in the meantime I agree warm liquid or warm mushies. Treat yourself to something yummy and yet healthy, my fave in this situation is really warm water with a tablespoon of honey and a squeeze of lemon, it really soothes and is especially great after a PB episode cause it really helps the throat a lot. Or hot cereal, yumm.

I agree you are doing wonderfull  OMGosh my daughter stressed me out so bad yesterday my band got relly tight. Thank goodness today it's back to normal. It got so tight yesterday I actually had a little reflux last night! Yikes, teenagers. I tell ya if it's not one thing it's another, you can't make them do anything as far as who there friends are and what choices they make away from home, all you can do is watch and wait biting your nails as you hope and pray they don't make a horrible choice that may ruin their life somehow. I need stock in Calgon.

If you can eat bread than you are not as tight as a lot of bandsters. However, you are doing awesome! Everyone needs a different level of restriction. When I can eat bread, I can eat anything and in way to large an amount. But as long as you are losing and the band is doing enough for you personally then you are just where you need to be right now. I managed for a long time with very little restriction, but finally my willpower went all haywire and I needed the greater restriction to keep me from eating the kitchen sink. Later on you may find you need more restriction or maybe not. That's what is so great about the band, it's adjustable!

Killer Fruit
I was told that peelings from anything, like apples, potatoes, grapes etc. cannot be chewed well enough and can lay over the opening of the stoma causing you to need to pb. If you chew a peeling you can pull it out of your mouth and pull it flat and see it's still in large flat pieces.

What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
Mine was a day surgery. I went into the OR and 45 minutes later I was in recovery. I woke up almost immediately upon arriveing in recovery, I couldn't talk yet and everything was really blurry. I pointed to my ring finger to ask for my husband and the one nurse thought I wanted my ring and the other one figured it out and said no she wants her DH. I felt a little sore in my abdominal area, I did not have bad gas pain at all, but the repairing of my hiatal hernia is what made me super sore for about a week. I didn't actually feel any real pain till the next day. I was walking within 10 minutes of waking up and 20 minutes later after drinking a cup of water I was released to go home and get some rest.

Whats the biggest weight loss myth you have ever heard?
How about if you eat 2 burgers instead of a burger and fries you will lose weight. Yes I actually heard a dietician say that on a daytime talk show once. After that I stopped buying fries and got 2 sandwiches/burgers instead. Needles to say I gained weight and got used to eating much larger portions.

Thanks, that's what I do to. And as long as I stick to it my calories are where they need to be, otherwise I don't even realizing how many calories I am taking in. It's the accountability that is so important and knowing in advance if that candybar or whatever is really worth the amount of empty caolries in it. One Reeses PB cup is like 150 calories! It's insane for one piece of candy. So I don't have one very often, lol. Like tonight my calories are on the low side so I'm gonna treat myself to some popcorn :hungry: while I watch a movie.

OK so this reflects the weight gain from my junk food frenzy and the again lost. I went up to 294! and am back down to 292 after one day of being good and back on track All I have to say is that logging my food in fitday makes a huge difference for me. It forces me to acknowledge everything I eat. Name..........................Starting…...…..Current….…..Goal…....To Go Juliegeraci......................238............. ...... 238.................228.............10 Lapbandit.......................231............... .....226………….199.............27 Waterlily.........................300............. .......292.................264.............28 Roiansmom.....................299................. ....299.................270.............29 Libra...............................248........... .........242.................228.............14 JulieNYC........................212............... .....205.................185.............20 Elisabethsew...................282................ ....276........... ......264.............12 PeaCeJ...........................338.............. ......338.................318..............20 RidinMyHDDream......... 297.....................289 .................281...............8 Babygirl1234..................260................. ....253.................240..............13 Leecelove70...................228................. ....228.................200..............28 Josette............................351........... ..........351.................335..............16

Well I hope for your sake the PMS passes. Hormones are stored in fat and when you lose the fat the hormones are released into your system. My cycle has been totally screwy since surgery but hey I am having a cycle again I can't believe I think that's a good thing, lol. But when all is said and done once in a while we just have to have that piece of chocolate. Just remember to count it into your calories for the day Not eat a whole bag and then look at the calories, ouch. Dang chocolate goes right through the band *&^*%^*&^*(

Am I hurting myself?
Every doctors opinion is different on the healing phase as to what you can eat and when. My surgeon allowed liquids period for the first two weeks. The rule was if you can suck it through a straw you can have it. But that is my surgeon. You have to follow what your surgeon gives you or you risk his wrath, and if something does go wrong then he may tell you to find another surgeon because it wasn't his fault. So follow the rules your surgeon gave you.

Grats to everyone, you are all doing so great! :clap2: Julie you will be leaving twoterville soon! I hope you will continue to visit this thread though as we would miss you terribly if you didn't. And Babygrl, don't be afraid of food, as it is unlikely that you have enough restriction yet. Just take it slow, move to mushies and see how that goes, and then to solids. If you PB don't worry there is a learning curve involved everytime you get a fill. Also take one bites and see how it goes down before continuing. Some foods I have to do that with all the time as they are tempermental for me. I have learned to stop before it ever reaches a point where I am in danger of a PB episode. One of those was enough for a lifetime. I am back on track today. I added up my calories for yesterday and choked a bit. The chips and candy killed me. I asked myself why was I eating these things and realized that it was the end of a really hard week. I unpacked all my storage unit boxes which contained a lot of memories of my mom. I was eating out of sadness. I hope that after realizing that I can fight that emotional trigger for food and stay on track for my goal. I would really like to get to 280 for my mom's birthday on Sunday.

I need to vent
A thought occured to me tonight, Is it against patient privacy laws for the pharmacy to tell my doc's nurse that we have been late picking up prescriptions? Because frankly I feel it is none of my doctors business when I choose to pick up my meds, and it chaps my hide that they said thaot to anyone. I know they told her because she couldn't have known that any other way.

I need to vent
I am so angry at my pharmacy. They have a policy that if you don't pick up an Rx in 7 days it goes back in the bin and you have to re-request it. We know this policy well. We called in all 4 of our Rx's between hubby and I on the same day. 2 days later he went to pick them up, they said that one of them needed refills confirmed from our doc's office and that our doc hadn't responded to their faxes, and that they had sent several. So I called our doc's nurse and left her a message explaining the situation. She looked into it and called me back. SHE YELLED AT ME! and treated me rudely, calling me a liar but not in those exact words. She said they never faxed her and that they told her they never faxed her, and that I still had 3 refills and why was I bothering her busy day! You don't mess around with someones anti-depressants that's for darned sure. My poor kids have gotten the bad end of the stick as I have not had my ususal level of patience and now I don't know if I ever want to go back to my doc's office if his nurse who I thought was a family friend of ours could treat me like that. Meanwhile I want to tear into that pharmacy for causing these problems. Thanks for listening anyone who read this to the end. I just felt I needed to get it out of my system somewhere. I can't vent to my hubby and I don't have my mom anymore. She would always let me vent to her till it was all out of my system. :think

Road to "TWOterville"
Wow, I really was bad. Broke a major rule of never shop hungry. I bought candy and chips with cheese dip While I can't eat it the way I used to I can still eat it. Like any of us can resist an old favorite when it's right in front of us :think But tonight the kids go home to their moms house and I won't have any more temptation in the house. Sigh, this is not gonna be a good tuesday weigh in for me.

scarey news

Well sadly the nachos went down really easy. And there is always soup anywhere you go out to eat. Only problem with soup is that you don't stay full for very long. But the good news is that I have my kitchen back! Wahoo! And I can even get to my washer and dryer now to do laundry (much needed)
