Let the Dr. know what type of Meds your on, then he will make a decision on weather to go threw, or Waite a while. Barbiturates is part of my meds since the age of 8. I will be 57 this year. Thats a long stretch for meds. He got me my stuff in liquid form, and then in about 1 week, he had me crushing my pills, and mixing them in sugar free pudding. Worked Great. Also they put me on a Morphine Pump in the Hospital. This might give you some idea, on how it worked for me. It's up to your surgeon to make this decision. How much longer are you going to be on this stuff? Hopefully not much longer...

That is soooooo true ! You can go back and fourth all day long about the spelling lesson. But it's not exactly what this site is about. It's a LAP BAND SITE , Not a SPELLING BEE SITE ! So it can go back and fourth, it still doesn't matter all that much to me. I mean yes, If my posts get under your skin, like loose vs lose? Then sure I'm sorry about that, but GET OVER IT! Thanks ! When I get weighed by my Dr. "Somewhere in the future..." Then I will set the ticker up. It was very hard, and the stress with not knowing if you have to have surgery, and moving " finding a new surgeon, somewhere to go for fills even". The SURGEON NOT WANTING TO SEE ME !!!!! And the B.S. that the Surgeon put down on the post op notes.. Well, I couldn't believe it. Talk about a rip off artist.. The head people got those notes at HURLEY,,,,,,, it's know wonder they didn't want to see me. "They said we only want success stories! I told them I lost over 120lbs. what do you call that?" She said I wonder why he doesn't have your weight loss History recorded. So he was really unprofessional in his follow up care. This was a Major Headache. Then,,, finding a place "HURLEY BARIATRIC CENTER , but! Being a outsider would they be able to convince Surgeon to see me. That took a good 6 months.... Then almost in a Flash something happened. About 10 minutes after I posted, I got a phone call from Hurley, and they said The P.A. who does the fills and Fluoroscope Say's it's your lucky day ! Be here Thursday morning at 9:00 A.M.. I said I'll be there. The rest is now History, and it feels G R E A T ! to be filled. Thank You, Shirley.

I still burp 5 yrs. later... You have new plumbing, and if you get a loud burp from the stomach up, it means your passage is clear. That's a very good thing. So your not alone.

Waite till he starts getting fat, and you are thinning down. That Beer, and sitting on your A** will do it.

There are Doctors that prescribe protein in foods, like chicken, fish etc. Only so many G of protein a day though or you will gain weight. The Post Op is very important, so everything will heel wright.

Trust me on this one ! You went through a lot to get this done, and you know you, you have done the wright thing..... So some people can not be educated. So do it all for yourself, and don't worry about the Ignorant one. Worry about you...

Wow that was unreal ! All that over CAPS, Layman's terms of English.... To the Dr., we are all not as fortunate as you to be completely schooled."THAT'S ONE REASON YOU MAKE THE BIG BUCKS RIGHT?" A lot of us just do what we can, and enjoy it ! I know I do...:tongue3: . Anyway it's all good news so far. They filled the band with 2cc, and 1/2cc adhesive to plug any leak. So far it's working, but , we will see in time. This was very interesting, they knew my Surgeon emptied me, "ALTHOUGH, WHEN THEY EMPTY YOU, YOU ARE NEVER REALLY EMPTY." something was still left..Then I went to a fill center and it was not enough. "SO I WENT BACK !" When she stuck the needle in, she must of missed, so,,,,, I was told I was empty by her. Now the surgeon said that the band was blown! I mentioned this to her, and she said NO way. She should me my band on Fluoroscope, and said it's in nice shape. So I had 1.8 maybe,,, in the band, but like all bands the balloon stretched, so I was long past due for a fill. I have 2.5cc in a 4cc band, AND I FEEL G R E A T ! Caps and all, it is a wonderful thing. Thank You all... You folks that commented, and the ones that talked to the B I G MAN upstairs. It all really helped. It feels so good to be on liquids for the next 2 days. I've missed being back where I belong. Whether you are a Dr., Lawyer or Unemployed, or Whatever. Excellent choice with the Muscle Milk ! I hope your doing the lite, and get it on ebay. Lots of suppliers, flavors,and sometimes good prices. With the MM you can add 1/2 the amount of Water, and freeze it, and it will be like a pudding. Speaking of pudding lets say chocolate, sugar free cups are great to have, it fills the empty feeling, and only 60 cal.. Also mix a pudding with a shake to thicken it up. But I had Yogurt, and cottage cheese before surgery. It doesn't hurt... Just 3 days before surgery do all fluids, and you will be fine. Surgeon was happy with the results.

I had 1.8cc in the band, I watched him put 0.2 cc in the band 'trust me,, that's no much at all". When I came back and he put the needle in, it popped the plunger up clear to the top of the syringe. He told me when this happens, it's usually a indication that the band blew. When he said he would empty me, and I begged please don't ! He said your to full, and swollen, Will talk in a month. I new weight would come back on, but I didn't know what a "BLOWN BAND MENT!" I am hoping the Port is shot, and not all the tubing. If the tubing is all blown, I'm getting a Lawyer... My problem will be the time limit that is allowed to file a claim or suit against the Dr.. "UNLESS,,, my time can start from the time it was found out, that is all apart.. As you can see, "I REALLY DON'T KNOW!" That's why I'm going in tomorrow, under Fluoroscope. I hope it's a slow leak, this way they have to give me a fill, and make me come back, and check it. If it's empty? They know there's a leak, and then it's up to the surgeon. Yes/No it's his call I had the Band put in 10/31/07 It blew in July. The Dr. says it's my fault not his... According to him I went home and ate a Baloney sandwich, "I don't even like or eat it!" It got stuck, and I had to go back for him to empty me. They claim that is in his Post Op notes. I got home, took a drink of Water, "HE DID NOT TEST THIS IN HIS OFFICE." swallowed, and it shot back up. I took a smaller sip,and same thing. So I called them and they said you must come back. Of course I did just that. He emptied me completely. The Dr. is sticking to his B.S.,, and I only asked to get this fixed, Never said anything about liability. He still won't budge. Google Dr. Jeffrew Genaw, and either his review sites will pop up, or you will have to click on reviews. Just read the latest post from a Man. I appreciate the lesson in Grammar! I'll put it this way,, I'm not a English Teacher, I will be 57 this year. So, with that in mind if I screw up in my Grammar I apologise! It's been a long time since I was in school, and we do tend to forget as the years blow by. So if I make a mistake I am sorry, but I have seen far wurst spelling then mine, and these are younger people, so I'm not alone. I will try to remember my spelling lesson though. Shirley.

First of all I want to thank You for responding to my Post I was good and p'd off when I posted that in CAPS, so I thought I was doing the appropriate thing. Thank You for pointing that out. Second as far as the spell check, I use it every time. If it's not up to snuff,,, well I do apologise for that.. But yes I do use it every time. Third I didn't take the response to the CAPS as offensive. That's why I asked WHY? Being p'd off to the Max, I guess I was write, because it was proper after all. Fourth and Final Yes it P'd me off something terrible to think that I would seek sympathy for myself.! ! ! That would be the day. Solutions to the problem is what I seek. I don't have the ins. that I had 5 yrs. ago. I now have Medicare, so I hope this covers this type of problem. He's not admitting that he did anything wrong. I appreciate the posting that you put up, and I just hope people will realise that I'm not alone. That's what is scary to me. How many people out there will fail do to a defective band/or the Dr's. mistake. But after all I went through, what really p me off, was all the lies to cover his butt. So if he did that to me, he has to be doing it to the rest of them to cover a mistake from anyone. I mean I'm not being singled out ! It's in his post op notes... If that is true,, then he should be put in jail, and loose his license. But there is no way to prove it. Hippa would make sure of that. So I'll waite and see what happens with this surgeon. If it's not a good thing,,,, it can come out.

Almost sounds like a Marriage. Scared to death, and it's nothing after all. It is a big deal,,, so is the band. You might wan to take something for the gas like it strip form or liquid. You don't want to hurt your surgery. CONGRATS ! ! !, and GOOD LUCK TO YOUR NEW LIFE ! Shirley.

I had 1 big meeting, where we met everyone, and they showed us the different kind of surgeries, and I paid to get their main book. After that it was psych, dietitian, physical therapy, internal medicine, cardiologist, visits to my family Dr., and visits to the surgeon to set up surgery date, and monitor my weight loss before i had surgery. This way he new if we were serious about weight loss. Took 1 year, that's what my insurance wanted. Hope it gives you an idea..

I keep a journal of 1200 calories "that's for a woman", and 60G of protein a day. You can eat what you want to fill up like sugar free puddings, yogurt, cottage cheese, whatever it takes to keep you a little happy. Understand,, sometime it's head hunger, and try not to give into that, because eventually it will start to get less, and less. If your really hungry have a cup of the sugar free pudding, that helps me a lot. you can buy instant with more flavors, and put them in desert cups. I did when I first started out. Also do you have a lite protein shake? Muscle Milk makes a excellent variety. You can use 1/2 the water, and freeze the muscle milk, it's not bad. But 1200 calories is quite a bit of food. You can go on line to calorie counter, and choose calorie king. Enter your food and get your calories, and protein totals from there. Or books if you want to look the stuff up. This is what I did 5yrs. ago ... First invest in a good protein shake Muscle Milk is very good. I took a shaker bottle, and a ziploc baggie, with a couple of scoops of Muscle Milk in it. Lunch Time I filled my jug with water added the MM, and shook it up, then slowly enjoyed my lunch. People I worked with were all for me. "didn't need or want it, but they were fascinated with it, so good for them !"

I had many surgeries. When they did the band, I was on the table for 3hrs. "30 minutes to do the band.." Hernia repair, lymph node removal "groin" they thought they were cancerous, and they weren't. So he finished with the band.. Ended up on a Morphine pump, then home the next day with some pain pills. Never felt much soreness from the band, but the groin was sore.
