Where are all the Michigan people at??
There is a cardinal rule for weight loss. "calorie counting" For a woman its 1200 to loose, 1500 to maintain, and 1800 to gain. He should check with his Dr., or go on line and do some research in calorie counting for men. This will help, I can't say how much,,, I'm not a DR.. I try to stay between 700-900 myself. It still takes time. Good Luck.

Gift Basket suggestions for 89 year old
I don't know if this helps or not. But even though my skills are on the back burner now, I am a Chocolate Lady. I do Chocolats, sugar free chocolates, painting with chocolates, Fudge "about 5 flavors." and Refrigerator Pies... Peanutbutter Pie, Creamy Chocolate pie, and a to die for Cherry Cheese Pie. I might be able to help you, that's up to you. I'm sure you can see why this line of work is on the back burner. Let me no. Shirley

PRE-OP SHOPPING LIST - Please add your ideas...
Go on ebay, and check out MUSCLE MILK LIGHT Protien Drink. It comes in a lot of flavors, and if I would have known the Surgeon was going to tell me,I have to drink 8oz. daily, I would have ordered ahead of time. Lots of flavors. With this you can scrap the ensure. Thats old news. This stuff is good for you, and taste good. I never even lost my hair. They told me at the Hospital if I drank it, I would never loose my hair! It was true.... Make a couple of pots of your favorite soups, puree' them, and freeze small containeers of them. Remember... PUREE' all those vegetables, and return it to the broth. There good for you, not fattening at all, and it re-inforces the flavor. Don't worry!!! It will all go down. Shirley.

Hello, Michigan!
Yed do I have some protien drinks for anyone interested. Go to ebay, and type in Muscle Milk Light, you are not gonna believe how many dealers and flavors there are. Look for a guy who sells them as many as you want shipping only $4.99. He also will have some gold stars by the best tasting product. This is who I recently bought from. "I can't think of his name, but he's there!" About $18.99 a jug. Only 2 scoops 2 a 8 or 10 oz. shaker bottle of water, and your done. 195 cal.25g. protien. Thats good stuff. H.F.H. recomends that to all of us. You check it out, then check out what a GNC will charge you. Thats the only stuff I drink, I must have 5 flavors to choose from. good luck shopping. It is a Lutheran Church Beth Lutheran? don't hold me to that, it's the only church on the corner of Frasho Rd. & Little Mack. S.E. side. Parking in the back, meeting downstairs, and starts aroun 6:00 or 6:30. Depends on the people. Come and join us, it is for support, it's not to bad. Sometimes even interesting. People who have reached ther goals, people waitin to get banded, "and looking for advice." and the rest os us tring to get there. So its not to bad. Look forward to seeing you. Shirley..

How To Find A Doctor To Do Fills On Outside Patients
Good question. Yes there is. If the tech. is having a problem of some kind. " The whole thing is run by Techs. supposibley." She has to go and bring in the surgeon to take over. Now,,, if they feel you have a leak, or something wrong. Then they could recomend you back to your surgeon with the info. of what is wrong. Like getting filled, and a week later your starving! So you go back, and they will tell you if this runs out, there must be a leak, and I have to send you back to your Dr.. That's smart buisness. You also need to know the name and size of your band, and they will tell you if it is F.D.A. approved. By the way! They call you like the next day, just to see how you are. If you tell them you could have used a little more fill. It's only $86.00. I mean you can't, and won't beat that for a outside source. If your to tight. It's free to take some out. But you have to let them know. Then they set it all up. Good Luck.. Shirley..:coolgleamA:

How To Find A Doctor To Do Fills On Outside Patients
Go to a FILL CENTER... Try Fill Center U.S.A.. That's were I go . they are proffesional, and the one I go to is new, so they don't take Ins. yet. "But they are thinking about it." So it's out of pocket. Google Fill Center U.S.A. and follow instructions. They might be able to help. Good Luck... Shirley..

Now he tells every one that needs it to look into the band. I lost 15 lbs in 1 week!!!! I went for a fill yesterday and I thought the tech was gonna faint. She said it took me 1 year to loose 10lbs., how did you do it? I said get the band,,, it works. Shirley..

Where are all the Michigan people at??
You have to call your ins. co., and see what they tell you. Thean work with that. Dr. Apts., Specialists Apts.. You no Shrink, Cardio, Dietician, and more. Schedule each one of these in a different month. This way you dont have to se your PCP every month. ADVISE!!! what ever dr., or specialist you go to. GET WEIGHED, and DATED. This is a MUST. Ask for a prinout from the office that you been to. They'll give you one if you tell them that "YOU ARE KEEPING A BARIATRIC FILE" and you must do this for what ever time your ins. co. says it takes. 6 months, or 12 . You must keep a file, dont miss any months, "THEY CAN MAKE YOU START ALL OVER AGAIN!" and make copys for yourself. If your ins. says 12 months, and you saw every specialist on a different month, and saw your PCP on the other months, time will go pretty quick."Example JAN.-DEC.," with a folder, and every weigh in, and date "always make sure that's on the printout." from the offices put in that folder. Then the folder turned over to the person in charge, and as far as they are concerned, you done your work, now its up to them to do their job. They are pretty good about getting there end done. They do this all the time. So Good Luck on your journey. If your allready there, then this might help someone else. Shirley

Were I had my band done, they put us all on Pepcid Complete 2x a day. No one seems to have the problem at our meetings... Like they say it must be the Complete, or it doesn't work. Hope it helps...

Updated: Insurance requirements with questions
Ins. Requirements: Wether you have 6, or 12 months the key things are 1. get weighed every time, 2. make sure you arange at least 1 visit to a Dr. a month. You can see your family Dr. this month/get weighed.. Go see your Surgeon next month/get weighed, and the month after, maybe a Cardio. again get weighed. As long a B.C.B.S. sees the attempt, and you keep going to your Dr. . Its fine! You will rack up 6 months in a row before you no it.Also, you will be taking care of every one you need to see, "shrink included" tell them you must be weighed!!! They will understand what you are doing. Buttt. If you miss any aptmnt. you start counting all over again. I did mine threw Henry Fords Hospital, and they taught me how to play the Ins. game.. You will see, time will go buy. I had 12 months, and trust me they kept me busy. Get yourself a folder to start a file. Every time you go to a Dr./get weighed, tell them to give you a print out of the vist, put it in the file.. When you have what you need, just take the file with you to the hospital and the Ins. people will do the rest. Hope it helps.. Good Luck, Keep the chin up. It'll happen before you no it. Shirley...

Where are all the Michigan people at??
BandZski; This is not Julia telling you about the support meeting in Roseville. Its Shirley talking to you. It was o.k. a lot of these people are new to being banded, so its a good thing. Maybe a little boreing, but all in all well it was o.k.. They had a head shrinker there at that meeting, so he could answer your questions if you had any. Next meeting you can swap your cloths that don't fit anymore, for some that might. Shirley.

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Our surgeons, wether RNY, or LapBand patients!!!! They put all their patients on Pepcid Complete for the rest of our lives. One in the morning, and one an night. I had bad acid reflux before I had the surgey, and things like caffiene will bring it on, but,,, the Pepcid complete works!!! Not a problem at all. You might run that by your Dr., and see what he thinks. Good Luck... Shirley...

Hi Yankeeblue 08: Just thought I'd say "I'm from saint clair shores" and I don't no of any specialists over here. I had my work done at Henry Fords. Like PH they are a Center of Excellence. They have got the handle on this whole Bariatric thing. the U of M Hospital told me to go there, they said "we have not yet perfected it, but we will!! So in the meantime go to H.F.H. they have the Monopoly on this. Well they were really good, I can't complain. Just thought I would tell a little about my journey. Keep in touch Neighbors. Band member forever. Shirley...
