  1. Good to hear Judy! Welcome back
  2. You truly are an inspiration Chancie. Thank you
  3. I was curious how much did everyone start off with when eating solids? How often did you eat? :huh0:
  4. Thank you ladies....very helpful. I will be doing the mushies...I went out for supper last night with my husband and children. Was not as bad as I thought it would be. I did not miss the food...I just found it challenging to order. But I did (had onion soup without the cheese and bread) and I feel pretty good. I stepped on the scale this morning, have not weight myself until past Thursday and I am up 3 lbs. Hmmmm....I wonder if it is just because that TOM is coming up and I generally get bloated. Well no worries here....just another little moehill to get over.
  5. I agree with Tracy get a heating pad...It helped me so much. I also bought a heating blanket...I found that my body temperature dropped when I got home. I live in Canada though and am always cold now.
  6. Congradulations Bob!! That is so great.....100lbs since August...WOW....good for you. You deserve it.
  7. My husband's Christmas party..the party of the year...is coming up next week. The party is formal with a beautiful meal and entertainment to follow. Well being that I am only on day 17 and cannot eat any solids until day 31. I will be on day 24 on his party date. What should I do? How much was everyone able to eat once they started solids? Did that amount ever increase? Staying home from the party is not an option, I don't want to disappoint my husband. Any ideas? Nobody knows that I have had this surgery outside of my immediate family. I don't know if I can handle sitting through a dinner with all the trim. Has anyone cheated on their pre-op diet?:001_rolleyes:
  8. I would love to lose another 20lbs by Christmas..possible...maybe...I can dream.. :-)
  9. thank you everyone.....I cannot tolerate the smell of any protein drink so I just chose not to have any at this point. This solving a lot of my nausea. I find that I run out of energy quickly and become very tired.
  10. I have been struggling...I am 8days post-op and am struggling to continue with my sipping...and worried that I am not going to get my protein in. I have tried many different proteins and my stomach cannot tolerate any. I am feeling like I want to throw up and was dry heaving this morning. The thought of protein shakes/supplements make my stomach turn. My understanding is that I am suppose to get in 70grams of protein daily. I am lucky if I get in 5grams. I feel like I am failing myself...I am scared of what will happen if I dont follow Dr. Aceves post-op diet. I am losing so much hair..which I knew would happen..but that quickly?....I feel like a crybaby. I just want to curl up in my heating blanket and not get up. Terrible I know....
  11. Need help urgently.....I am taking my Nexium faithfully...but the last two days have been feeling like I want to throw up. Today after my protein shake....the nausea was back and I actually dry heaved...OMG....I am so freaked out......what do I do? Can I take something else for the nausea? Any suggestions would be helpful....
  12. Okay here it goes....I dont know where to else to post but in here...when is it considered safe to make love to DH after VSG? Is is different? Okay and here is a another question what does the "D" stand for in DH? I hope the "H" stands for husband...lol......
  13. Thanks Tracy....that was helpful. I will definitely give that a try.
  14. *hugs* Ruby you and your family are in my prayers. Gold Star for you for Staying strong and staying focused.*high five*
  15. Daisy, I am sorry to hear about your trouble...but in the long run it will be so much better. I had my gallbladder removed 12yrs ago. Thank God is all I can say....I endured so much pain so I can definitley relate to what you are going through. Speedy recovery and I look forward to hearing how you are doing.
  16. I am on day 7/8 (not sure if I count the day of surgery) and I see that I allowed to have protein drinks (mixed with water). I dont have access to isopure..but I have atkins shakes..I also have something called "High Alpha Whey Protein and Whey Isolate protein powder. Would any of these work during this phase of the diet? I am really struggling with getting my protein in. :scared0:
  17. How exciting....Dr.Aceves and his team are wonderful! I was sleeved there on Nov. 10. It was a great experience and the hospital was more than I could of asked for. Your time there will be worth it.
  18. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  19. Ginny....I was sleeved just over a week ago....you will do very well. I did the same thing to my family. I made sure my will was all up to date. I look forward to hearing from you when your back.
  20. Thank you so much for all the response. I dont feel so alone .....I thought what I was feeling was just me. Today was a better day for me...I managed to get in more liquids not as much Protein as I should. I only had about 10g of protein today. I will definitaly dress in layers. I live in Alberta Canada so we are in our winter season. Still waiting on the snow though. Seen my family doctor today. He gave me 2.5 months off of work. There would be no way I could do my job at this time. I work in a high stress job and my focus needs to be on my wellbeing right now. *hugs to everyone*
  21. Yesterday was my 5th day after being sleeved. I was so emotional yesterday. Not sure what was going on....self pity perhaps....I was in some pain...I was freezing..could not get warm..struggling with what to have on my clear liquid phase. I am finding I am sensitve to sweet...so jello and propell water is difficult to tolerate. I am trying to get all my fluids in and having difficulty with this. I also noticed that my sense of smell seems more sensitive. Smells I could tolerate before I cannot anymore. Is all this normal or have I lost it completely?:laugh0:
  22. I have officially joined the "Losers Club" and I am so excited. I was sleeved on November 10 by Dr. Aceves. From the pre-opt diet to now I have lost 11lbs. Wow....Yah for me! Dr. Aceves and his team were wonderful. I still am experiencing some pain and lots and lots of gas. My only struggle is trying to ensure that I am getting all of my fluids in.
  23. Thank you so much for your support. Today is the day before my surgery. I am feeling more optimistic about my surgery now. We will be getting picked up this morning at our hotel and going to the hopsital for my tests. I am looking forward to seeing the hospital and meeting the staff. The only negative comment I have heard on our journey was from US Customs officer. He asked me if I knew how many Americans go missing from Tijuanna? He caution us on the danger there and too keep ourselves safe. I am not very concerned about that as we are at the hospital the whole time anyway. I will let eveyone know how it goes. Thank you Norma for you offer. I really do appreciate.
  24. I leave tomorrow morning, my husband will be accompaning me. I must admit I am experiencing a mixture of emotions. I am scared of the what if's..I am excited....I am worried...yada yada yada.....we will be spending one night in San Diego and on Monday...we will be going to the hospital so I can have the required tests. Yesterday when I was driving home from work I was thinking about everything coming up and I am cried like a baby. I have children at home and I worry about them and again the what if's...yes I know...be positive....all will be well....I found some comfort in prayer...my surgery is set for Tuesday...I will be home Friday. My husband is worried about my comfort the flight home. We have connecting flights. My friends and family have asked me what am most excited about...being able to shop in the skinny stores...activity....my answer is to have the night sweats...hot spells stop (from my high BP). Anyway I am rambling....but where else can I do that but here...lol...I dont want to talk to my husband, family or friends about my fears...they would not want me going through with it and they would worry.... Jenn
