  1. Hey, I can understand your fears about everything. I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves past November 2009. I remember the fears. Let me reassure you that Dr. Aceves and his team are wonderful. I felt that this was the first time that I was treated with so much respect by a doctor. He listen, he understood and he answered all of my questions. Dr. Aceves is a very gentle man with a warm personality. He has a wonderful sense of humor. His staff are just as great. The hospital is very nice, very clean, a pleasant atmosphere. My husband accompanied me and he was very impressed. You will have tests done the day before surgery. You will have an ECG, blood work, Urineology test and a chest x-ray. The results will be discussed with you. You will meet Dr. Aceves prior to surgery. You will also meet the doctor who does the Aneistetic (forgive my spelling). You will in fact see Dr. Aceves many times throughout your stay at the hospital. The nurses are great, I did not find much of a language barrier. I wish I could reassure you more, but trust me, once you see the hospital and meet Dr. Aceves all will be well. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact me. *chin up..hugs*
  2. Thank you everyone....all I can say is if I can do this anyone can...we will all be successful together...through hard work and a lot of tears anything is possible. ...
  3. I am so exicted!!!! I weighed myself and I am under the 200lb mark....I have not been there forever!!!!!! I have lost a total of 88lbs!! Getting so much closer to my goal!!! YAHOOOOOO!!!! Can you hear the excitement in my voice...lol:thumbup:
  4. Hi congrads on your decision to have the VSG. I did not tell my boss what I was doing. I felt that the less that knew the better for me. I probably could of went back to work after a couple weeks but I chose to take three months off. I do know that you should not be lifting anything heavy for at least a few weeks. Hopefully that helped.
  5. Great Job!! I miss running so much..I use to do it and loved it..I really need to get back into it. Thank you for sharing....I found your note to be very encouraging
  6. I am 7 months out and still have to take Nexium every morning. If I dont I suffer terribly.
  7. I had my surgery 6 months ago and have lost 78lbs. That alone I know is great. I should feel more excited and motivated. I should be feeling very happy...but I do not feel that way. I seem to have to be having more bad days than good. I am afraid that I stretched my sleeve..cause I seem to be able to take in more food. I am terrible at counting Protein..calories..I dont. When it comes to keeping myself organized its impossible. I dont really have a support system I can turn too on a daily basis. My husband who struggles with his weight and is not willing to make changes to his lifestyle ...this does not help me ....difficult when he brings all the goodies that I use to love eating...I dont know how to help him or motivate him if I can't help myself....I hope it does not sound like I am wallowing in selfpity..I am having a hard time turing the other cheek from making bad choices. I dont know what to do. I did try attending a weight loss group for people who have gone through surgery. I found it very clicky.. We have a busy housewhole with our children involved in activities..a lot of running around. Meals are quick and not very healthy. I feel unhappy most of the time...no motivation to do anything physical...I am so afraid I fail myself once again. Any suggestions?
  8. thank you everyone...I really appreciate the support.
  9. Hello everyone....I could really use a mentor friend...I have had the VSG almost 6months ago...but feel that I dont have anyone I can talk to about my surgery...or feelings relating to my surgery...or just the changes that I am going through....feels like nobody really understands. I would really love a buddy or buddy's that I would be willing to email or facebook. I would appreciate the support. :frown1:
  10. thank you everyone....the weight loss has been awsome! I feel great. I had no idea that the Nexium helped curb the hunger....awsome!!! If I have to stay on for the rest of my life..then that will be okay too...sacrifies to have a healthy BMI!!
  11. So happy for you!!! It is very exciting to see the scale numbers go down....I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves as well. He is awsome!!
  12. OkAY ..seriously???!!! How long has anyone stayed on Nexium or any other medication for that nasty stomach acid??? I have tried to go off for a day...and the constant burning started...and lasted and lasted ..I had even woken that next morning with the black acid all over my tongue and teeth...it was horrible. It has been 5.5 months since my wonderful surgery. On a positive note I am down 75lbs!! So excited about that...I am 50lbs away from my goal weight....although my family doctor thinks I should loose 70lbs. :thumbup1:

  20. Hello everyone....today..weigh in day....I was disappointed. Just prior to my surgery on November 10 I weighed 285 lbs. The heaviest I have ever been. Last monday I was down 50lbs. Wow..what a feeling...I started to do the calculations in my head about how much I could lose in the next few months...today...I was up 3bs....I can't begin to describe the feeling I felt. How can this be? I was very disappointed in myself.
  21. Does anyone know what size of bougie Dr. Aceves does? Is there a standard size that he does or does it depend on the person? Thank you so much for the picture you posted Tiff. It helped me a lot as I am a visual person.
