  2. I am glad that everything went very well for you Norma. It is great that you enjoyed Dr. Aceves and his Team. I look forward to meeting everyone there next week. I am getting so excited.
  3. Thank you ladies....so far so good...*grin*
  4. Can we ever have carbonated drinks again? My friend had the gastric bypass done...and she was not allowed carbonated drinks or alcohol for a year.. Is this the same for the vertical sleeve? I enjoy a rum and diet coke with lime every now and then....*sigh*
  5. Hello friends.....I am leaving for my surgery a week today. My husband and I fly out on Sunday, Nov 8, and my surgery will be done on the 10th. I tried to start the pre-opt diet longer than the recommended 7 days, but alas...did not happen. I officially start tomorrow. I am looking forward to new beginings. I am cannot wait until I can unload this extra person who has been hanging onto me. I will admit I do have my fears...but I would with any surgery...I will rejoice in the benefits to be a healthy person. I know that if I continue my way of life the path I was on...I would have much more to fear. So my friends thank you all for your stories...and advice...I look forward to sharing my own story.
  6. Okay...I have a question...a silly one maybe...I did not think of being on medication after I get the Sleeve. I get the sleeve on Nov 10. Can anyone tell me what meds I will need to be on and what their function is? Is there anything I need to take for fiber, like metamucal?
  7. Hello everyone.....thanks for all the advice....I did hear back from Dr. Aceves...he okay the H1N1 vaccine. Like Norma, in my profession I work with children and families, and I am in the high risk category. My family doctor recommended (he and his family got it) and with Dr. Aceves blessings I got the shot and I feel fine.
  8. Everyone has probably heard of the H1N1 crisis. Well where I live the vaccine for H1N1 is available next week. My question is ...Next week is one week before my surgery. Do I risk getting sick? Will I get sick? What happens to my schedualed surgery? My workplace is strongly encourging everyone get the vaccine. I am so confused. I did send Nina (Dr. Aceves) a message to get some feedback on my concerns. Anyone else facing this or anyone had the vaccine already?

Here is a question....Does the appearance of one's tattoo change after weight loss?
  12. Kirasoma I will keep you in my prayers. I love statement "God will not give you more than you can handle" I strongly believe in that. If you dont mind sharing...can you tell me where you had gone to get your VSG done? I look forward to hearing your updates.
  13. Oh you must be getting so excited. I am excited for you. You are so prepared...good for you. I like you am starting the pre-opt diet early. I am so up for massages..as I love getting them. I look forward to hearing about your experience. I have my surgery with Dr. Aceves on November 10.
  14. Wow....everyone is so inspiring! What a great idea of a topic. There are so many reasons I want to be one of those "skinny bitches"...lol.... First off is to get off my BP medication, and have all the aches and pains stop. Next is be a more active parent. I have children who love to downhill ski and hike and so forth. I want to join them. I want to cherish the quality time that I can have with them before they are grown and young adults. I want to be able to shop at Victoria Secret and Lazena. I want to feel attractive and not Lumpy. I want to be energized...I want to be able to jog...do marathons...I want a second chance! *sigh*
  15. So how is everyone feeling? The date is approaching quickly for all of us. I am counting down the days (21 days)....I am excited..but scared. I guess those feelings are all normal. My husband is coming with me so that is very comforting. I am too start the pre-opt diet 7 days prior to my procedure but I am trying to start it now. Today actually...so hopefully this won't be difficult. I am thinking anything to help make this surgery a success I am all for. I really need to shrink my liver. I have a BMI of 43. I am hoping my family doctor will provide a note for me to have the time off work afterwards. I have an appointment with him after I return home. I work on salary so I need a medical note. Anyways....I must say that I really appreciate all the support I get from this site...I love it! I would never have been able to go through this alone without everyone's knowledge and support!
  16. Hi Newmom and Kris! I will be getting sleeved on November 10. With Dr. Aceves as well. I wish you both the best!
  17. Hello everyone, I have my surgery schedualled on November 10. My question is..this is also the same time as my TOM. I am concerned about this, not sure if this will affect anything. :bored0:
  18. Hi Joanne! I am getting sleeved on that date as well. I am very excited as you are! I am going to Dr. Aceves. Where are you going? I have a lot of weight to unload...and I am so looking forward to it. Yahhhh no more hurting bones...no more BP meds.... o/ o/ o/ o/ o/
  19. I am going through the process of booking for hopefully November 10. Thank you so much for your story Judy. I too have chosen to go to Dr. Aceves. I am excited and scared at the same time. I really appreciate you sharing your story. I now know what to expect. My husband will be going with me as well. I will let everyone know how my process goes. Cheers!
  20. Hello everyone I started exploring and researching lapband about a year ago. A year prior to that my doctor put in a referral to the Weight Wise program in Edmonton (Dr. Sharma) and a referral to Red Deer (Dr. Ferries). I had not heard anything back until July 09 of this year from Edmonton, stating I was accepted into the program. Critiera to doing the program is completing nine modules. After completing the first module I would have my first appointment with the doctor and his team to determine what is the best route for me. My appointment for that is in Nov 09. All I know is that at the end of it all...(I have total 150lbs I need to lose, I have 35 extra lbs just from last year) I am getting this procedure done! Whether I do it here or not. I am so tired of being heavy... Anyway thanks for letting me vent or provide update...whichever that may be..... I find that my biggest struggle right now is finding a support system who understands. I need a support system to help keep me on track. If there is a group who meets or stays in contact somehow I would love to know. I need support so bad.
  21. Wish I could help you with answering some of your questions. If you browse this site you can find answers to many of your questions. That seems to help me. I like you will hopefully be getting the procedure done in the new year. If I lose my patience with our health care system I will likely go out of country. Good Luck with the procedure!
  22. I have been accepted into a surgery weight loss program. The process takes nine months before any lapband or gastric procedure is done. During this nine months I have to show commitment and lose some weight on my own. I am having difficulty doing that. I have like many have tried every program out there. I am wondering what others thought about Herbal Magic? I need help desperatley.
  23. Hi "Losing for me" Thank you so much for your reply. I would love to get together and chat or a coffee. I am open to both. I live in rural Onoway area. Let me know when you are available to chat. Evenings work best for me....I will be out of the country for a week and back on the 17th. Mondays and Wednesday evenings work best for me for chatting. Were you banded in Edmonton? Congradulations on your incrediable weight loss. I am so looking forward to a "new healthy me"
  24. Has anyone been banded in Edmonton? Please share any info. I am dying (not literally, but maybe if it doesn't happen soon... :tt1: ) to find out about anyone's experience. Thanks so much!!!:scared2:
  25. I had just recently received a letter from Capital Health, regarding my referral, which was done a year and a half ago. I was accepted into the program for the Weight Wise Management Clinic at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. I have nine modules to complete over the next few months. After I complete the first module they will call to book the initial assessment. The process will take place over nine months before anything is done. If anyone has gone through or going through the process I would love to connect. I know I will have many questions and the additional support would be great. I would love to hear of other's experience. Thanks
