Nana22, I had a similar experience. I weighed 220.7 lbs the morning of surgery on Dec 29th and weighed 228 the following evening from so much water retention & gas? I think we have to hold on to a lot of non-scale victories.

Being 5 days post-op, I have already noticed being able to breathe easier when sitting in a car with a seatbelt on and my knees not hurting or breaking when I walk down the stairs.

While the head hunger is real and I am counting down the days until I get to pureed food (thanks for those suggestions, btw), I already feel like the procedure was worth it even though I experienced a few surgical complications (required a transfusion and an emergency EGD with the second surgery for a burst internal blood vessel and now body hives), I can already see the benefits of tracking water, protein, and planning out my meals throughout the day!

NSV… happy with the way I looked for my husband’s 35th high school reunion! I didn’t feel old and fat as I would have in the past. Plus this was a few weeks BEFORE my Tummy Tuck and thighplasty. About 1.5 years after WLS and down from a 2x to a size 4.

Don't forget to take a few "Before" photos before your procedures. It helps to see small changes on days when you stall, especially if you develop body dysmorphia.
Wishing you all successful procedures this month!

It took one year and two weeks post surgery (plus 7 months pre-surgery), but today, nekked, on my own scale, I hit ONEderland, 199.6 lbs. Yipee! I know it's transitory and I'll bounce back and forth for a while, but this is the first time my scale has shown under 200 lbs for about 25 years. I've gone from a size 30-32 to an 18-20.
My hair is growing back. My brother is moving back home after 30+ years as an expat. I've booked a southern Caribbean cruise for April and he's going with me. All is good!
Just when I finally got all skinny leg pants, I discovered that the "in" style is again baggies. Well, there are some things you just can't win.

Been a while since ive been on here, but just wanted post this for anyone it might help. 3.5 years since i got the surgery and its still by far the best thing i ever did. Back in November i completed a 33 mile ultra trail run. Something i never thought i would do. Im extremely proud of it and cant wait to set new goals. Fitness has made this journey that much easier and I love every aspect of it. Hopefully this will encourage someone!!! IF youre thinking about the surgery, do it.

So you're barely over a week out - it's major surgery and it does take some time to bounce back from the body-shock. Some have a rougher time than others post-op, which sounds like where you're at. It's definitely not an easy recovery regardless, and some people experience very real hormonal disruption that can really bring on some horrible emotional turmoil. Regret right after surgery is actually pretty common.
And I know it's a broken record, but it's honestly true - it gets better. Hard to hear when you're in pain, feeling weak, and are trying to navigate a brand new and often overwhelming new life change, I know, but even folks who had a rough time like you will, months later, attest that it gets better and is worth it.
If you could have lost the weight without surgery you would have. We all would have. Never having long-term success is what brought us all to taking the surgical help. Be kind to yourself and like SleeveDiva2022 suggested, a bariatric therapist might be a good idea.

I weigh myself once every morning and log it in an app. If I am at home, I weigh myself all the time, just to look at the number. I have a scale in the restroom, so if I go in to brush my hair, for example, I step on it. lol Weight fluctuations don't bother me. Probably because I have a history of Water retention.

when I was in the weight loss phase, I weighed myself daily except for when I was in a stall - then I'd just weigh about once a week until the stall broke. Once I hit maintenance, I started weighing about once a week.

I am 14 months post gastric sleeve, now in maintenance, and I have weighed myself every single day. Small fluctuations don't bother me, nor do stalls - I just like to know what's going on! If it will bother you not to see consistent losses then I recommend leaving it as long as you can between weigh-ins. But you do you!

I weighed myself weekly to begin with, but once it became clear that I was going to be a serial-staller, I stopped weekly weigh ins and went with bi-weekly to monthly. As I got closer to goal, I weighed myself less and less, letting months go by. I found that actually really healthy, mentally. So I hit milestones like "under 100kg", and finally "goal weight" without even realising until weeks later.
Obsessing about the scale isn't helpful. I could feel my clothes getting looser, which was much more significant, and I was sticking to my plan so even when weight loss slowed down, I knew I was heading in the right direction.

Lol the calorie deficit is going to my head, it seems! Sorry for the confusion

Long story short, had my first dumping episode and it suuuuuuucked. Thanks to soy milk! I'm so hesitant with fluids other than Water since, but decided to try a cup a Soup tonight for a savoury flavour. Pray for me that it goes well

How is everyone else doing? I'm definitely having the 'head hunger' creep in. I'm lucky to live alone So I Don't have to prep food for anyone else. I can't imagine how tough it is for folks making meals for others!

Every time I pass/smell food I kind of have a little pang, but I can get over it. It's not forever, just for now. I was visiting a friend today, and when they brought out bread sticks and cream cheese to snack on - I instinctively thought to grab one. I didn't, of course, but it was crazy how quick that thought came and over rode my logic! This stuff runs deep in the subconscious, I guess

I'm taking the Bariatric Advantage chewable Multivitamins with Iron in strawberry and the mixed fruit. They are very smooth and easy to take because they are not chalky at all. They kind of taste like a larger Flintstone Vitamin.< br>
I'm also taking the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews and they are nummy. I'm doing the sweet assortment which come in chocolate, caramel, coconut, and maybe Peanut Butter? I also got a bag in the mixed fruit and they taste like Starbursts.

I'm using my FSA to cover both as they are a little bit more on the expensive side but it's worth it for the taste.

I threw CiCi off because I double posted a post in a new topic in a separate forum. https://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?/topic/442800-MeThreeSixty,-Baritastic,-or-other-helpful-apps

How are the rest of you doing on recovery? 600 calories doesn't feel like enough now toward the end of the night. I feel hungry and I haven't gone back to work yet.

I actually got 75g of Protein yesterday, but 635 calories and my tummy was hungry with pangs last night.

Oh, Cici, you poor thing. I empathize with you so much. I had a dumping episode tonight that was maybe only 20% of yours. I didn't have any sugar-free hot chocolate and thought I would sub with a no-sugar added fudgsicle, which is a horrible choice in case you were wondering!

My stomach is cramping so bad, and it feels like I'm going to have the dumps but I can't get it out. I guess we will just have to experience small episodes of dumping to remind us that we have sensitive boundaries.

I hope you'll be able to try soy milk, again in a few weeks and tolerate it better. I'm so sorry. Sending you well wishes, my friend!

Kim this is so cool! I'm definitely going to try this out.

So you guys, I had my first dumping incident this morning and I'm shook. It was so, so horrible. I woke up at 2.30 am with stabbing pains in my stomach, sweating profusely, extreme weakness and retching. I actually thought my pouch had burst and I was going to need an ambulance, the pain was that bad!

Thankfully it passed almost immediately once I went to the toilet, but man that was scary stuff!
The culprit was the soy milk I mixed my Protein Shake with, since it's all I had within 4 hours of the episode. It's the only thing I've done differently. I thought dairy alternatives would be fine and picked soy because it's so high in Protein. I had 200ml. The fact it caused me that much pain means I'll never gamble on skipping ahead in the food stages, anyway [emoji23]

An inconvenient lesson, but not one I'll forget!!!

I'm also not allowed coffee during the liquid phase, but wonder if it will taste ok, reading the thread!

Hope everyone is doing great [emoji3590]

I was 63 years old when I had surgery and lost 100 pounds in 6 months. I went from a 42 DD to a 34A. Basically "rocks in socks." Pretty ugly, but only without clothes! During the past year, however, my fat seems to have redistributed a bit. My weight is the same, but I seem to be a bit more filled out. I will never have breast surgery, as a well fitting bra works just fine, and I am not out looking for a relationship. Being older, I think, adds a different perspective. I am so happy with who I am and my brand new body that can do all the things I've not been able to do for decades. Being morbidly obese was a lot more funny looking than my new wrinkles and sags, so I'll take skinny and saggy anytime!

Well the BP app looks completely different than desktop version. I don't really like the app, it looks so generic and you don't see any of the sidebar info that you do on desktop. So I'm guessing that's why so many people don't fill out their info.
It would be nice if BP upgraded their app so that it looks like the desktop version.

I do love me some meal prep! Things I’ve learned-
individual Greek yogurts while more expensive are easier for “no spoon” days. I usually add homemade granola or a 100 calorie pack of nuts and fruit for a quick Protein packed meal.
cooking a protein bland for the first cook makes customized meals easier later. A beef roast in beef broth can later be made into shredded beef for tacos, BBQ beef, or korean beef bowls.
I love soup! I’ll usually make a batch on my meal prep days and either put it in the fridge or freeze it.
Scrambled eggs (so they’re still glossy and not rubbery- most people overcook scrambled eggs) are great to put into meal prep containers with a couple sausage links or patties and microwaved later in the week.
Hard boiled eggs are another great option. Just peel and store in the fridge for up to a week. They’re good as egg salad or on salads.
Use a lettuce knife- it’s a special knife made of nylon with serrated edges that cuts lettuce so it doesn’t oxidize. This keeps lettuce longer over the week after you prep it so it doesn’t get brown and yucky.
