  1. I too had lots of pain...ended up in Surgical Intensive Care a couple hours after my surgery because nothing would ease the pain & I couldn't breathe! I drove myself home 48 hours after natural child birth with my first son & 24 hours after C-Section with 2nd son, so I couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time with this procedure. I'm stubborn & normally tough as nails, but this surgery was very hard for me to recover from for some reason. I'm now 2+ weeks down the road & feeling terrific, but that first 10 days was full of pain pain & more pain. It sure would have been nice to be one of the ones that had very little pain, but we're all different! So give yourself time for a good rest. Hopefully, you'll feel a little better every single day. I'll be thinking of all us new bandsters & wishing everyone well!
  2. Down 8 lbs from last Friday...yeah!! MUCH better than seeing the increase last Friday...that liked to have killed my motivation. Exercise: still just walking 30 minutes daily, but pace has picked up well this week...joined the small workout room at work, so hope to get in a bit more next week. Hungry every evening...I'm fine until I get home at night, then I stay famished until I can force myself to go to sleep. Can't wait to begin to get some fills that will hopefully help me out with this. Looking good everyone!!
  3. Hey L...LBT helped me when I would get hungry during my 10 days of pre-op liquids...especially the before & after thread. I'd grab a crystal lite, or a cup of hot tea & check out LBT & my hunger would disappear. You CAN do it...you have a ton of folks in the August support group pulling for you. Hang in there you're almost to Band Land!
  4. Ugh

I know it won't make you feel any better, but I had the exact same breakout that you are experiencing after I delivered my first child 15 years ago. Every day for 7 days I drove myself 40 miles 1 way to get steroid shots...with a brand new baby along for the ride! The breakout started to clear up after day 4 or 5, but I looked horribly scarred for several months. My son's 6 month pictures were the first ones in which no one could detect any sign of my 'delivery rash'. Hope all goes well with your steroid treatment...don't worry it'll all be over soon & you'll be quite a few pounds lighter by that time! Good Luck!
  5. Up 3 from last Friday...maybe we should be doing this monthly..haha. Hope to have the rest of the IV weight off by this time next week. I'm beginning to see the swelling/bloating go down finally. Excercise is back up to 30 minutes of walking every day, but I'm still moving quite slow, will try to speed it up some this week. Back to work on Monday which should also get me moving a bit more. Glad to see so many doing well!! Good luck to us all this week...keep it up!!
  6. Sorry I'm late on my Friday weigh in...I did weigh yesterday, but was too sore to sit at the computer & log on. Surgery was right around noon on Thursday, but I had a very bad time in recovery & ended up having to spend the night in surgical intensive care...my body was not reacting to the pain meds & I couldn't get in enough air thru the pain. Finally, dilaudid (spelling?) did the trick & I was on my way to feeling better! Am feeling even better after sleeping in my own bed last night! Feel pretty good now & haven't had any pain meds since before midnight last night. Down 22 lbs so far...8 lbs this week. Exercise: 30 minutes every day walking (except Thurs & Fri), but hope to do my 30 today it'll just be a bit slower pace Keep up the good work everyone!!
  7. Fairy....115 pounds gone...OMG!!! What an inspiration! Here's hoping that I'll be able to mimic your success!
  8. Dr. Mathews is my surgeon....has a support group that meets at Princeton that you may want to check out. I think you can call his office & they'll give you the schedule. I believe that there is also a support group that meets at Shelby B which may be closer for you, but that one is probably thru another surgeon group. Either would be a good place to gather information & talk to some folks that have 'been there'. There are quite a few docs doing the band here in Birmingham. I've been researching & moving forward since this time last year & glad to finally be at this point. Good luck to you & keep in touch.
  9. In pre-op stage now. Down 15 pounds from consult date. Exercise 20 minutes every single day, but will attempt to up to 30 minutes beginning tonight. Everyone is doing so well!!
  10. Just an introduction. My surgery date is August 14th B'ham. I made the lapband decision almost 1 year ago; employer added procedure to their insurance coverage Jan 2008 (a sign from God I'm convinced) & I started my 6 month pre-lims on Jan 6th. I am finishing my 3rd day of liquid pre-op...I haven't gone 3 days without solid food ever in my life! I don't talk much...just prefer to listen...one of my best skills! I am married to a life of the party guy...19 years now. We have 2 boys 13 & 15 yrs old. I love LSU football & baseball. Probably won't post much, but wanted you all to know how much each of you inspire me! Keep posting...I'll be reading. Is there any way to make the screens move faster?
  11. My first post & yes, I'm from B'ham. Surgery date is August 14th & am almost finished with 3rd day of liquid diet. Would not have made it without this site...when I get hungry, I just grab some hot tea & come here, read, & am inspired to keep going. Good luck on your journey!
