  1. Kimmie K, oh gosh your comments from your Dad were so terrible. I'm sorry! My dad did a lot of the same thing. He passed away 2 years ago, and unfortunately, a lot of my memories are him giving me grief about being overweight. I'm sure that is not how he wanted to be remembered. Sorry you have been denied 3x. My insurance also does not cover the surgery. Have you considered going self-pay with Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver? There is a huge thread on here all about him. It is just under 10K, and everyone seems to love him. My consult is Friday. Good luck girl, and keep your chin up.
  2. Hi Everybody, Glad to have found your new Dr. K posting site! You're right, the other one is getting pretty long and sometimes hard to navigate through. When is the next Red Robin get together? Would love to meet you all.
  3. Oh that is so great, I'm happy for you! My consult is this Friday and i can hardly wait. So nervous and excited.
  4. Thanks everybody for giving me your dates! If anybody else wants to join the list, just put on a post and I will update: 9/1 gg2007 9/2 a2bachik 9/3 DenverGirl, Tally, Christina 9/4 Bluezbandit, Kiz 9/5 roland 130 9/8 keleka 9/17 debbieperez55, fatmommyslim 9/24 mdargen Go September Samurais!!!
  5. Congratulations! Best of luck to you.
  6. that is totally awsome - your body must be thanking you, I can only imagine the improvement in your BP, heart rate, etc!
  7. In my 2nd year of marriage, my husband (now my ex) who is 6'2 and 300# said he realized he just didn't feel lust for me because of my body size, and that he realized he should have married someone who was more like his first wife (a toothpick) because he can't help that he is just more attracted to thin women. And that was the beginning of the end. That was over 2 years ago, but it still hurts. JERK!
  8. Hi Brad, WOW thanks for the very prompt post on your surgery. That is great that you are doing so well. Best of luck to you.
  9. I don't see why you would not qualify, unless you have some other medical condition that would make surgery a risk. I would definitely go to the seminar and schedule a consult with a MD. Good luck!
  10. Christina, Absolutely! Also, look for user name "Tally". She is from Tallahassee, and also is having surgery on "our" day with Dr. K! My consult is 8/8, and it just can not come fast enough for me. I am so tired of living in this body, and am very anxious for change. i got a new haircut and color today, so guess I am stepping in that direction! Hope you're having a great weekend. I'll send you a private message today.
  11. did that article say 25 hour procedure?????
  12. Jill, Wow, thank you for your post so soon after surgery. I"m glad to hear you are doing okay. Please keep us updated!
  13. Tally, I sent you a private message - we have got to compare notes!! I'm planning on taking 1 week off just to be sure I"m rested and ready to come back. I've heard you only need 3 days, but since I have the sick time banked, figured I should use it.
  14. I'd like to ski the black diamond runs - right now I get too tired also, wear sleeveless blouses in the summer wear skirts without having to wear pantyhose or a split slip underneath wear bermuda shorts to work on Fridays in the summer like some of the other ladies do
  15. Tracy & Jill, Sending many positive thoughts your way. Please post when you can and tell us EVERYTHING you can remember about the surgery process. Go girls!!!!!!!!
  16. Christiana, I'm going to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora. How about you?
  17. I thought it might be fun to do a master list of everybody's surgery date! Send me your day and date, and that way we can see who's first, who else is on "our" day, and so forth! Good luck to all Setember banders!
  18. why can't you give users from lapbandtalk a special code to use??
  19. No, this is not normal. Fever is a sign of infection when it happens after surgery. Take some liquid Tylenol tonight and call your MD in the morning.
  20. This is very common from any kind of laporoscopic surgery due to the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. Try alternating between a heating pad and ice pack where it hurts on your shoulder. It will go away!
  21. Christina, I'm scheduled for 9/3 also! Having it done here in Colorado. Yeah for us!!! We should compare notes and anxiety - ha, as time draws closer.
  22. I do the same thing when I am starting a diet...have one last "x" before the fun stops. I suppose I'll have some pasta from Macaroni Grill and maybe a few Hooters wings. Really, at this point I am so excited about the upcoming surgery that I'm happy to do whatever the doc tells me about the pre op diet. Good luck to you!
  23. :Banane34:Hi There, I'm having surgery 9/3, and would love a mentor who also had surgery from Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado. I'd like to exchange e-mails and ask the zillion questions about what everything is going to be like, and what I should and should no do. Thanks so much!!!
  24. Dionna, That is great that you have such positive support. I'm sure that will be a big help to you. Everybody, Will I be ok by myself after having surgery? I can get a ride home from the surgery center, but do I need to have a friend stay overnight with me?
