New Bandster

Hi there! I just got my band 5 days ago. I have had no problems with the band itself, however, I do have alot of pain in the shoulder/neck area. They say it's from the anesthesia. Anyone else have this sort of pain?

This is very common from any kind of laporoscopic surgery due to the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. Try alternating between a heating pad and ice pack where it hurts on your shoulder. It will go away!

Hey, I just got my band 5 days ago too!!:) I spoke too soon and was thinking that I didn't have any/much shoulder pain yet, but yesterday and today I have had a slight mild soreness in my shoulder area. The common thing with yesterday and today for me was that I didn't walk much. So tomorrow I shall go for a slow and steady walk. The first few days following surgery I was walking quite a bit (due to sight seeing in Mexico-no car) and I felt better.

Question: Have you lost any weight since surgery?? I have only lost 1LB so far, which, I suppose I can attribute to bloating and Water retention, but it is still SO frustrating. I have been on only Clear liquids for 5 days now, and haven't been consuming very many calories! Are these pounds all just going to drop off at once, I wonder??:confused2:

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago now. I too had the shoulder issue (only I felt it underneath my right shoulderblade). It lasted for 4 days, and was very surprising when it went away all of a sudden. I was sleeping and rolled over and felt very strange...not hurting...but I can tell you exactly when the gas finally released. Didn't come out, don't know where it went but you'll know when it happens. I thought I had broken my band and called DR next day. He got quite a laugh.

Getthin: Your body is in serious stress right now. It isn't going to release anything (including weight) until that stress passes. I'm down 20 pounds in 4 weeks - and I don't lose weight easily at all. So, give it another week or so and you'll be very encouraged.
