  1. During mushies, here's what I had: breakfast, protein drink or oatmeal, cream of rice, cream of wheat, grits with shredded cheddar lunch/dinner: cottage cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, creamed soups that I had put in blender first, mashed potatoes, Wendy's chili put in the blender first, canned carrots, applesauce snacks: jamba juice, jello good luck!
  2. Thanks for the reminder - Lands End is fabulous and I love their button downs, too! Was just saying to a friend that when I lose weight I plan to buy a fab wardrobe for work from them.
  3. I had surgery 9/3, did clears day 1&2, liquids day 3,4,5, mushies day 6-13, and on day 14 I can have a regular diet.
  4. Hey there samurai's, Is anybody else in bandster hell, or perhaps in bandster purgatory yet? I was banded 9/4, and my appetite came back with a vengeance 7 days later on 9/11. Of course that was my first day back at work, the anniversary of my Dad's passing, etc., etc., so not the easiest day anyway. I am hungry between meals, feel like I can eat more than a cup for sure, and try to eat slow, but end up with a stomach ache after a meal. My doc has me on soft foods now, and I can advance to a regular diet at day 14. How are the rest of you coping? I really do not want to gain weight and lose the little bit of progress that I have made so far. I'm still bruised, sore, and tire easily.
  5. congrats! Dr. K has his own thread here under "doctors and hospitals", basically we are his "FAN CLUB"! He is the best and you made a great choice. Good luck
  6. Wear your heavy jewelry and layer it on - turquoise nugget necklace, anything with stones, you get the idea~! good luck!!!
  7. Anybody else have a hernia repair at the same time as getting their lap band put in? I didn't know I needed it, but woke up to find out I did and that my doc fixed it. Did this affect your recovery time/pain, etc.?
  8. I know how you feel - I had surgery on Wednesday, and am not having much fun at this point. But I know that this too shall pass! Hang in there.
  9. Welcome Florida Gator!!! I am also a gator, and am getting banded today. In fact, I am bringing my stuffed alligator to use as a pillow in the car on the way home. Best of luck to you, let me know if I can help at all. It's great...to be...a FLORIDA GATOR!
  10. Happy Band-Day! Thanks for posting right away. You are the September Samurai leader for the rest of us. I am tomorrow! Hope you are feeling great soon.
  11. Hi, my surgery is tomorrow too. i don't feel nervous, but then again I'm not sleeping yet! As for surgery, it is no biggie. You might feel groggy when you wake up, but you will be well medicated for pain. You won't remember anything from when they wheel you in until it is all over. Love that part! Good luck, and let me know how you do, ok?
  12. I don't think there is much you can do tonight, so try and relax. the preop diet is more about carb control to shrink the liver than calorie reduction. Tomorrow is my band day, too! let me know how your surgery goes, oK? yeah for us!!!

  14. Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado is $9950 for everything. Fills are free for the first 3 months, then $15 after that.
  15. You are having surgery with Dr. Snyder next week. Why don't you spend your time and energy focusing on that? Once you select your surgeon, it is time to move on in the process. I met Dr. Snyder also, he could not have been nicer in answering my questions. But, I ultimately felt more comfortable with Dr. Kirshenbaum.
  16. I am a RN, have two jobs. My doc says I can return to the desk job in 3 days (but I'm taking one week off). For my RN job doing adult med/surg he wants me to take off 4 weeks.
  17. Just to set the record straight - the RNY surgery is no easy ticket to weight loss. My best friend had it in June, and it has been no picnic. She has all the same struggles that I read about here on LBT and more. I think we should support everyone who chooses the right kind of WLS for themselves.
  18. That is so great to hear. Thank you for sharing your very positive story!
  19. my doc said mine will be in the middle. good luck tomorrow - how exciting!!!
  20. The size band depends on the diameter of your stomach. A person with a higher BMI is likely to need a larger size band than a person with a lower BMI to start with. The port on the allergan band is taller than the port on the Realize band, so it depends on which brand of lap band your doctor uses. Your weight loss should not vary based on band size, it depends on your compliance, and how much saline is injected into your band over time to narrow the stoma opening.
  21. That is fantastic news - congratulations!

  23. Dr. S., I'm concerned that many people say weight loss makes their face look older. If after weight loss my crows feet and crepey skin under the eyes gets worse, does laser treatment such as the Fraxel work?
