  1. I was doing grocery pickup earlier so I couldn’t look it up but this link shows what I was trying to describe for baggy shirts. I guess it’s a little about the belly button. https://insideoutstyleblog.com/2015/01/how-to-style-your-loose-tops-with-a-rubber-band-the-kimtuck-revealed.html
  2. You would be surprised they can be quite hurtful. Even the well intended ones that say you look so good are usually followed up by commenting on how big you were before which pretty much sucks. This can be especially difficult if you put a little weight back on or in my case a lot and then you have to go around those people knowing they are for sure judging you again. And even if you don’t gain it still kinda stings to know that people who are supposed to love you were judging you before for something that was out of your control. I had one person who had known me for years tell me that they just realized what a pretty girl I am about five minutes after they asked if I had lost weight!! I don’t think people think before they talk sometimes. Bottom line is any comments about weight CAN be hurtful and it’s something that people should tread really lightly about in my opinion. Or better yet learn to see a person for who they actually are and not even notice a persons size amongst other physical things (only in a perfect world I know). Why do you say you wish you were getting these comments? Have you not lost what you expected to with the sleeve? Are you still losing? That’s what I had first and I never did get to my goal weight. I am doing a revision surgery to the SADI in early August. My dr said that the sleeve is a great surgery for a lot of people but obesity is a complex issue and it is not the best fit for everyone. Some people just need more of a metabolic change to be successful.
  3. Just found a recipe for chicken that uses a glaze made of honey, soy sauce, garlic and red pepper flakes called 15 minute honey garlic chicken. Thinking of doing that tonight with a little cauliflower rice and some broccoli. I’m still looking for ideas though. I don’t know how to cook that many things to begin with so when I try to go healthier I swear I have to eat the same like 5 things over and over. I’m curious if the honey will cause issues post surgery though. It’s only 3tbsp for a pound and a half of chicken I haven’t ever looked at the carbs in honey though.Yikes, one tbsp Is 17g carbs. I guesstimate each serving will have about half a tablespoon?! Not certain if this will work in weight loss phase or not. I need to get the number from my surgeon at my post op because the nutritionists are incompetent but that’s for a whole other topic.
  4. So I follow the food before and after thread and I’m always amazed by all the yummy looking things they come up with but I am more of the five ingredients or less kind of cook so I lurke and admire but rarely post anything. I really struggle with variety and I am always looking for new ideas. Today I bought lean beef, mahi mahi and chicken breasts and now I’m sitting here trying to think of what to make for dinner but nothing sounds good. Does anyone have any tasty, yet somewhat easy, recipes or suggestions. I am trying to start eating close to how I will be eventually eating post revision surgery that is scheduled for early august. What your plan for dinner tonight??
  5. There are some cute ways to put a rubber band on the inside of tops too that creates a cute design while pulling it in to be more form fitting. I’m sure you can find some of the fancier ways if you poked around online but the easiest I’ve seen is to turn it inside out and put a small hair tie or whatever off to the side around the belly button area. You can also do it in the back and near the bottom then tuck it under. It actually looked really cute in the tutorial. They also sell waist tightener clips for pants.
  6. Has anyone tried the Jordan’s skinny syrups. They popped up when I was adding the root beer to my cart and they have a mermaid one that is blue. Looks so refreshing for a mock tail. Suggests you add to flavored sparkling water or lemonade. I have some of the true lemon that I don’t particularly love just cause it’s kinda bland I thought I’d add it to.
  7. They also have protein shots right here on bariatric pal. I’ve Never tried them but when you mention not having to love them, I bet it would be easier with a smaller amount ??‍♀️
  8. Those root beer crystals sound interesting. I’ have never seen those. I wish they would create Cole zero ones.
  9. I don’t think them people in the kitchen follow the rules very well. I had a straw on my tray the day of surgery.
  10. I use my phone most times and I see the first so many words of these posts but I can’t figure out how to read the whole thing. I can click to reply but don’t know what I’m replying to. Anyone know if I’m just missing something or do o just need to drag out another device.
  11. I agree with others that it’s normal and it will slow down and stop eventually. I remember that phase all too well. I couldn’t really see the loss in the mirror but I hurt my back pretty bad and was down for a while. Before I vacuumed I noticed the hair collecting near all the baseboards and.i was horrified. I never lost enough for anyone else to notice either. It just seemed like I was going to. Just keep getting that protein in and you will be fine.
  12. There is a reel on tik tok that really hit close to home with me where this lady is at Disney world and she begins it with something like i am wearing shorts in Disney and you will NOT believe some of the things people are saying to me…. Just when you expect her to repeat all these nasty comments and rude looks she says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No one really cares!! I’m sure I’m not recalling it verbatim but the point is that (for the most part) we are the only ones that are thinking about what we look like when we are dressed in the appropriate attire for an activity. I second getting a new costume if you can afford it but either way don’t let what others think keep you from living your life.
  13. It took me a second for that to compute too. I am never going to say bathing suit again now though!!
  14. Thanks!’ I thought so too, but I never heard mention of that other one so I’m gonna give it a run by my dr when I see him post surgery about that and whether I should start with the regular bariatric or the Sadi specific vitamin right away. Just doesn’t make sense to take the shake and the chew together if they both absorb. Either I will end up absorbing too much or just pee money down the drain. Same thing if I take the multi and the shake if the iron just cancels out the calcium in the shake. Not the end of the world either way. I’m sure it will work its way out when I get my first labs but now I’m curious. ?
  15. Not sure if you guys like country but there is a song from years ago by Kasey Musgraves That comes to mind when I think of this chat. Here are the lyrics, but of course you can just google and give it a listen for the heck of it if you want. “If you save yourself for marriage, you're a bore You don't save yourself for marriage, you're a horr-ible person If you won't have a drink, then you're a prude But they'll call you a drunk as soon as you down the first one If you can't lose the weight, then you're just fat But if you lose too much, then you're on crack You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't So you might as well just do whatever you want So, make lots of noise (hey) Kiss lots of boys (yup) Or kiss lots of girls, if that's something you're into When the straight and narrow gets a little too straight Roll up a joint, or don't Just follow your arrow wherever it points, yeah Follow your arrow wherever it points If you don't go to church, you'll go to Hell If you're the first one on the front row, you're self-righteous son of a- Can't win for losin', you'll just disappoint 'em Just 'cause you can't beat 'em, don't mean you should join 'em So, make lots of noise (hey) Kiss lots of boys (yup) Or kiss lots of girls, if that's something you're into When the straight and narrow gets a little too straight Roll up a joint, or don't Just follow your arrow wherever it points, yeah Follow your arrow wherever it points Say what you think (say what you think) Love who you love (love who you love) 'Cause you just get so many trips 'round the sun Yeah, you only, only live once So make lots of noise (hey) Kiss lots of boys (yup) Or kiss lots of girls, if that's what you're into When the straight and narrow gets a little too straight Roll up a joint, I would And follow your arrow wherever it points, yeah Follow your arrow wherever it points”
  16. Please ignore. It was misinformation online. I was concerned if they had a lot of iron that the calcium chew I was taking with them wouldn’t absorb as well but I checked the actual shake and it doesn’t have iron. It does have 650mg of calcium though so if I don’t take the multi with it I may be able to save some money on calcium chews. It’s calcium casenite. Just need to figure out if that is a form of calcium that we absorb post surgery.
  17. I remember gaining a pound or two and always just figured it was the time of day or whatever. You know one salty meal or a full bowel can make a two or three pound difference. To this day k weigh two or three pounds more in the afternoon than morning time. Your loss will not be a straight line downwards, but it will trend down. Everyone says it and I know firsthand how hard it is to listen because I didn’t but try to stay off the scale for a while in between because then you will see the real losses. After my sleeve surgery I would weight myself daily but i only recorded it one day of the week so I could better see the number decreasing. Even still it didn’t always go down so honestly if you’re self disciplined enough, weighing like once a month would probably save a ton of mental anguish.
  18. I have been drinking crystal light for years but the dietician I just talked to said that too much if the sweetener in that is pretty bad for you and she suggested true lemon. The only problem I have is that I don’t like the lemon or lime and those are the only two flavors that come in value packs or pitcher packs so they are kinda expensive and a pain to be making them one at a time (not to mention difficult to find in stock near me in the flavors I like). I really just hate plain water. I am hoping that changes with my upcoming revision and I can just use the flavor packets for something different once in a while.
  19. Thanks. I would say that’ seems impossible for me because I am one to add salt to everything but post surgery you never know.
  20. Thanks for the reminder. My tastes didn’t drastically change last time but I guess they could this time. What did change was My cravings and preferences. I used to reach for salty food pre surgery aa a snack and post surgery I still love my food salty but I crave sweets most of the time as a snack. I’m hoping that changes back with the revision. Especially since when I do want something salty I’m not satisfied with just that. I have to finish it off work something sweet right after. I have learned to kist do a small portion of the salty thing and try to do a small portion of the sweet thing but most of those are single serve like yogurt and yasso bars so I usually finish it. I still think that is the oddest change. Especially since the one question my surgeon kept asking was if I eat alot of sweets before he steered me to the sleeve. Prior to surgery i had sweets maybe a handful of times a year (usually on holidays when someone really pushed them). Now I have them daily. ??‍♀️
  21. I started the day trying to figure out if 60mg of iron was actually a little too much post sadI and stumbled upon one article that says fbaf supplemental calcium may not do anything to help with our bones but some research has linked it to kidney stones )which I had heard before) but also heart disease and gastrointestinal issues. There was mention of this on Hopkins.gov and Mayo Clinic plus ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Further investigation lead me down a rabbit hold of all the various nutrient deficiencies people experience post SADI and there are so many, OMG. Now my anxiety is getting the best of me. One article made it sound like people with all of The bariatric surgeries suffer so many issues in the long run. I am not scheduled to see my surgeon again until the morning of surgery and I honestly don’t know what good scheduling To talk to him would do me now. I mean he wouldn’t have scheduled the surgery if he felt it was going to put me in worse shape So he either has better research to prove these studies wrong or he just hasn’t heard of all this which seems impossible since I stumbled upon It my accident and it’s not even my field. I am honestly not sure what I am looking for here other than others take on all this and maybe some reassurance from the only ones who can possibly understand what I am feeling right now. I’m just so overwhelmed by what I have read And my husband couldn't have possibly dismissed it any faster. Am I crazy for letting this stuff freak me out? When I did my sleeve I didn’t do this much research And I wasn’t nearly this freaked out. Maybe I just need to get offline.
  22. Wow. Thanks so much for this. I definitely will be purchasing it in the store but I may try to add some seasonings to it since I don’t particularly love broth and I read that the flavor of one broth is often less intense
  23. So I am gathering supplies For my upcoming surgery and I am thinking I will try this infamous bone broth everyone has been talkimg about. I am just curious what brands are good. What I should expect it to taste like. If there is a way to jazz it up. Stuff like that.
  24. Instead of posting this as a new topic I’m hoping to get the attention of those who have already had this surgery so I’m posting here. I have a question about SADI vitamins but I think the experience of Duodenal switch is pretty close with vitamins. So I thought I had really found something great when I came across the pro care health Sadi/ DS multi with iron and ADEK. . Then I started googling and the 60mg of iron in them is toxic and potentially fatal for normal anatomy. I realize we won’t absorb as much of some vitamins but since we dont know exactly the degree of malabsorbtion would I be better to start with a little lower iron like 45mg and up it if my labs are low? I already ordered two bottles of those capsules because I had points from this forum and they sell them in the bariatric pal store but now I’m thinking I may just take them a couple times a week or something. Just curious what amount if iron others take who are a little while out from SADI or DS.
  25. Of course she also didn’t know much about my surgery just like the other one. Total waste of money. But it satisfied the insirance requirement. ??‍♀️
