  1. I wouldn't do watermelon early out because of the seeds. I unfortunately do not remember when I was allowed to have it but I know it was not allowed at 5 days out. Maybe ask your nutritionist about seedless watermelon but even that may be too soon at 5 days out.
  2. It could also just be a sore throat which unfortunately was the first symptom my husband just had with COVID last week. I would get a test.
  3. I was lucky to have a friend of a friend who just had the sleeve surgery so I was able to ask her a lot of questions. I made up my kind to do it because when I exercised it causes knee pain at a BMI of 35. My doctor told me to take some time off of the treadmill and as a result I gained part of the weight back I had struggled to lose. I could just see how things were only going to snowball and the heavier I got the worse the knee pain and then I would get even heavier. I decided to stop the cycle the only way I knew how.
  4. Hello and welcome. And congratulations on your surgery date. The main piece of advice I have to give is not to compare yourself to others. We are all here to cheer you on but your journey will be your own.
  5. You don’t have to eat more to slowly increase your calories until you find your maintenance amount, just add in some healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, nut butter or a small amount of olive oil. And as catwoman said you will most likely gain a little weight back so keep that in mind when you decide if you really do want to stop losing.
  6. No regrets here.
  7. Have you tried the gas station? I haven’t seen them specifically but some of the smaller ones go to Sam’s or Costco to buy their products and of course sell individual drinks.
  8. Yea, just take your time, the cleaning will wait. You just had major surgery and you have to give your body time to recover. Things will get back to normal soon enough.
  9. I have an adjustable bed and that was amazing post op but if you don’t have one and can’t find a comfy position in bed or in a recliner you may want to get a bed wedge. They just put you in a little more upright position. Which is also good for getting in and out of bed easier. They have them at medical supply stores but they also sell them on Amazon.
  10. I am going to the movies tomorrow. I was thinking about bringing in skinny pop in my purse. I figured I will put it in a ziplock bag so it’s not as noisy. My only problem is that popcorn is a slider food for me so I will still want more when I’m done with my small portion but I guess I will just have to deal with that. I’m used to eating the popcorn the whole movie but obviously that’s what got me in trouble before.
  11. How are you able to do with your fluids? Do you have signs of dehydration such as dark urine?
  12. I did not have those kinds of issues but I have heard people who have. Did you try going back to the previous food stage?
  13. Good for you. I am so jealous. Even at 179 I can’t handle heels. I guess I am lucky I am on the taller side cause I can Only wear them if I am going just to dinner or somewhere I will not be walking too much in them. My husband laughs at me because I just collect them even though I rarely wear them. Lol
  14. My husband drinks them and he doesn’t even have to drink protein shakes. I have read that we can only absorb so much protein at a time though so I wouldn’t drink it all at once since if that is true you would basically be wasting money and not getting an accurate count of your protein for the day.
  15. Welcome and congratulations. Yea I said that even for people that are self pay that they should probably make them wait ar least a short time because there is so much information to learn that it takes more than one appointment to absorb it all.
  16. Good for you. The more you lose now the less you have to lose post surgery anyways. Just know that you may not lose as much as some people do on the pre op diet since you have already been dieting and lost that water weight. The goal of the pre op diet is not to lose weight anyways though it’s goal is just to shrink the liver. Also know that you are very lucky that you get to have meat and veggies on your pre op. I didn’t realize how lucky I was until I hung around here for a while. There are some people on here that have liquid only diets.
  17. No, I do not. I have only heard of one person on here who said she developed allergies post surgery. Of course it could just be a coincidence.
  18. Hello and congratulations on your surgery date. What are you allowed on your pre op diet. Mine was 2 weeks but I was allowed small portions of lean meat and non starchy veggies. I had a lot of grilled steak and onion since I knew I wouldn’t be eating steak for a while.
  19. I think that the whole issue may be that it is so difficult to interpret tone in a text message. I have found the people on this site to be so incredibly nice and helpful and I hope you will reconsider giving the benefit of the doubt and stick around so that you can see that for yourself.
  20. I second this. I have been on this site for almost 15 months now and I have NEVER heard anything but encouraging and very helpful advise from Arabesque. Congratulations on your NSV.
  21. Idk what tostones are but if they are carbs and you are having them every day you may want to try cutting back. Especially if nothing else works.
  22. You will probably get mixed responses on that one. I did not ever cut them out completely but some people do. Some find eating them on occasion is too difficult and some nutritionist think they should be cut out completely during the weight loss phase. Mine said if you can eat them in moderation they are okay.
  23. It varies so much between practices. I didn’t even have a pre assessment. You will get a much better idea of a timeline if you talk to the insurance coordinator for your surgeon.
  24. It is pretty normal to have a healthy amount of fear about the surgery. If it’s more than just jitters though, perhaps you could meet with the bariatric therapist to try to work through your fears. Or the surgeon (or NP) if they are about the technical stuff.
  25. I guess it could be related to your surgery but it could also be something else entirely. I would probably call my surgeon but I would also make an appointment with my family doc.
