  1. I have heard on here that the weight loss is definitely slower after revision than the first time around. And it can sometimes be less than the initial surgery. But everyone experiences super slow loss those last few pounds.
  2. I believe the insurance company has 30 days to respond. Don’t quote me on it but I heard that somewhere.
  3. Sounds like your team is just having you get all the hoops taken care of right away. Insurance usually dictates quite a bit about the time line. It’s possible you are one of the lucky ones that will not have to do the Six months of weigh ins that insurance often requires. Fingers crossed for you.
  4. That’s weird. Does the waist of your pants feel tighter?
  5. Well said lizonaplane.
  6. Yay. Congratulations on reaching maintenance. Just go slow and you will figure out right where you need to be.
  7. I didn’t experience this so I don’t have first hand advice but one thing you can try to rule out that you aren’t chewing enough is to go back to a purée meal and see if it makes you feel the same way. You could also be eating too fast? Are you waiting plenty of time between bites?
  8. My husband just went through COVID recently and it kicked his butt. He was only actively feeling sick for about four days but he said he felt off for quite some time after. Its a weird little virus in how it hits everyone so different but just give it time. All you really can do. He didn’t really want to eat for a while either. Just said nothing sounded good. He made sure to at least force down a protein shake or two. Maybe warm up a chocolate one and drink it like hot cocoa. I haven’t ever tried that but it doesn’t sound too bad for cold weather. Feel better soon.
  9. I agree with sleevesk about the therapist. A lot of people swear that they help so much. I wish I could find someone near me who specializes in disordered eating. I am 16 months post op and got down to my easy goal but not my dream goal. I am on medications that can cause some weight gain so they warned me that may happen. I would’ve been happy enough to maintain there but now I am dealing with some life stress and a medication change and my weight is already starting to creep back up. Not trying to scare you but I am an emotional eater and I know that this would’ve been easier if I had the tools that are learned in therapy. I say you have come this far, may as well do whatever you can to set yourself up for long term success.
  10. Ooh that’s awesome news. Congratulations on your new surgery date.
  11. I want to say it was every hour that I got up and walked when I was awake and at night I got up to pee a few times. If you are high risk for blood clots they will probably give you injections and compression stockings and you may have to be more strict. I always get up every hour though and walk around a bit while I am awake. My Apple Watch reminds me to get up. I would ask your team how often you must get up because I may have done more than was necessary. Like I said I wasn’t in a lot of pain so it may have been different if I was.
  12. Ooh that really sucks. I’m so sorry. Hopefully they can put you on a stricter pre op diet and you will be fine.
  13. Good luck to you both today. Update us as you as you are feeling up to it.
  14. They should have singles mixers for patients of bariatric clinics. That would seem to be the ideal scenerio to meet someone who totally understands and is in the same place in life. Maybe suggest it at your support groups.
  15. If I were you I would ask your surgeon his statistics. How many of his patients have had to convert to bypass because of GERD. From what I have heard on here for the past 16 months it seems like for the most part it is people who already had some issues with GERD and it gets worse post surgery. And many times it’s manageable with PPI’s but I do see those who have to convert to bypass.
  16. For a short while perfectionism isn’t a bad thing. It’s pretty important that you follow the post op phases to protect your healing tummy. Most of us do our best during the weight loss phase as well but in maintenance you definitely don’t have to be perfect all of the time. You can have some of your favorite foods in moderation.
  17. Hello and congratulations on your surgery date.
  18. They are once a day multivitamin and they include your iron. I was also advised to take calcium citrate as well. I took the bariatric advantage chews for calcium in the beginning but later switched to an over the counter brand of calcium citrate that is a large pill.
  19. For the first couple days you will definitely be taking small sips so you may want to go the chewable route if you don’t think you can swallow a pill that way. I found the bariatric advantage chewables to be tolerable. I switched to pro care health capsules soon after I was sure I could swallow them though because they aren’t cheap. I got samples from my nutritionist. I believe if you contact them they will send you samples through the mail.
  20. Omg I can’t even imagine dating at this point in my life. I have so many little things I don’t like about my body. If I could afford plastics I would be doing that as soon as they would let me. I’m sure that it’s pretty uncomfortable for anyone that’s not in their 20’s anymore though. Surgery or not. Most of us have our little hang ups over our bodies. But I’m sure if it was a serious relationship you would go places that required less clothes so slowly your secret would be let out even if you didn’t tell. Like if you went to the beach especially.
  21. Yea I don’t have any issues with constipation or anything else you mentioned. I’m pretty sure 45mg is where my clinic starts most people though. It’s in a book that they gave me in the very beginning that unless told otherwise we needed 45mg.
  22. Well I’m not anemic or anything and I was told to take 45mg but I’m 16 months out and labs are still great so I guess I needed it then.
  23. Well they changed the Home Screen I think. At least for The version you get on your phone and I can’t seem to find the old page that lists the forums first and then the threads. I hope they change it back. I just have to be more careful in the mean time.
  24. Of course you can still enjoy cooking anything but why not challenge yourself to make healthier versions of things that still taste great. I for one would love to hear of any recipes you come up with
