  1. I had a hiatal hernia fixed during my sleeve surgery. I didn't have GERD before and I also do not now. But I am only 3 weeks out.
  2. Perfect timing. I am going out to get some protein powder and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the question and the answers!
  3. Yes, you have to take vitamins, I assume forever.
  4. I am on the pureed diet right now and my plan says I can have egg drop soup. You know I made my husband go get me a large egg drop soup. But how do I know when I am full when it is just liquid? For now I am just measuring 4 oz and hoping that does it.
  5. I had it for about a week. I attributed it to the tube during surgery. Hurt like hell to cough though.
  6. I didn't even tell my husband until about 3 weeks before surgery. I had told 1 friend because she has also been considering it and she was the only one who knew up until I got my surgery date. Then I told my husband, my boss and 1 person at work who had the surgery last year. My kids found out about a week before and my in-laws 2 days before. I still haven't told my parents and I am 2 weeks PO. Once my weight loss is obvious, if people ask, I will tell them. I am not ashamed of it. I just didn't want to jinx anything. I literally wasn't approved until 60 hours before I had to be at the hospital for the surgery.
  7. I had no preop diet so I had wine every night leading up to surgery knowing it would be a long time before I had any again. I got so many bottles for Christmas so I was trying to drink them all before my surgery date of 2/1/21. I did not actually succeed.
  8. I am also in NJ and I did not have to do any pre-op diet. I finished my 2 week clear liquids and am now on pureed foods. I wonder if we are using the same surgeon.
  9. I got some Silk Ultra Protein Soy Milk that I plan to mix a couple tbsp into to fluff them up a bit.
  10. Sounds like you are doing well. I just told my husband and daughter I can't wait to eat a scrambled egg on Monday morning when I can finally switch to pureed foods.
  11. Doc said mine is due to the hiatal hernia repair that was done during my sleeve surgery.
  12. Can this pain be on the top of the shoulder? I also had a hiatal hernia fixed with my sleeve on 2/1 and I have pain on the top of my shoulder like between the shoulder and neck. I am going for my first follow up today so I plan on asking my surgeon when I am there.
  13. That is how mine as too. But I was clear liquids for 14 days. I can't even do the protein shakes or cream soups. I have my first follow up appointment today.
  14. I was also done Feb 1st. I felt regret days 1 - 2 but I am feeling much better now. Does your team have you drinking any sugar? I am hypoglycemic and some days I wake up feeling awful because my sugar is so low. My team said for the first 2 week while I am on clear liquids only I can have full sugar gatorade or powerade, cranberry juice or apple juice. I had to do half drink and half juice. the days I feel really bad I will have 8 oz cranberry juice with 8 oz water. I also got Protien20 water to get some protein in while on clear liquids. I hope you start feeling better soon. It will all be worth it in the end.
  15. I made it back to my stomach by the 5th night. I'm glad it didn't last too long.
  16. Great news! I am surviving on cranberry juice, broth, protein water and plain water. Hope you get some sleep at home.
  17. I'm not even attempting protein shakes yet. I am all clear liquid so I do have protein water and broth but that is the extent of my protein at this point. I don't start protein shakes for another week according to my program.
  18. I also ended up having a hernia repair during my surgery. I had no idea it was even there Docs found it while they were inside and fixed it. I'm hoping that is where the majority of my pain is coming from. I'm happy to hear you are doing well. I gained 11 lbs in the hospital. That is now gone plus 5 on five days out.
  19. The only things I used from my bag were: underwear (I couldn't stand to be commando even for 2 days) lip balm hand cream phone and charger It was even too big a hassle to get unhooked from everything to bother to brush my teeth. I brushed before I left home and then when I got home 31 hours later. I had french braided my hair so it wouldn't be an issue during my stay.
  20. Good luck!! You are probably in the operating room right now so I will send up some good wishes for you.
  21. They probably want to reach out to the insurance to see what the requirements are so they can tell you exactly what to do when you do go in. No need to go in if you don't know what is necessary after that visit.
  22. My weight was 250 but I am 5' 7" tall.
  23. I didn't have to do any pre-op diet. I got home yesterday and my headache has finally subsided. My incision definitely hurts but it may be because they found a hernia and repaired that while they were in there. Good luck with your surgery!!
