July 5- Ladies who are new bandsters, how are you feeling?
I was banded on the 3rd. I'm done with pain meds, feel pretty good. Walking and sipping Protein shakes, burping and um... pf (productive farts!) LOL, hope that wasn't Too Much Info! Going to take a shower and get outside the house for a little walk.

July 3rd!
Day before pre-op I was ordered to Clear liquids only. Not a problem but I did leak a little on surgery day. Post op day 3 and I'm doing fine. No pain meds needed since yesterday morning.

Out Patient or Overnight?
I stayed overnight, but that was because I use a CPAP machine. The other bandsters got to go home.

18 days away and nervous....
I was just banded on Thursday morning. The hospital was great, when I woke up in recovery I had pain, but the nurse gave me a shot in the iv and took the pain away. Absolutely nothing else was uncomfortable enough to mention. The sugar free popsicle on my tray tasted great! I came home yesterday, and have followed instructions the best I can. Walk, sip, walk, sip, blow into the breathing thingie... Every day I'm getting closer to a healthier sized me. Good luck to you on your journey!

Surgery tomorrow, a little frightened
Thanks. I'm banded and starting to heal. I know that each day I will feel better and better! Your good wishes are appreciated. Going to try a real walk outdoors as soon as the sun comes up. I am so glad that the surgery is done, and healing can begin. Hope my body loves the new band as much as my head does!

Prayers needed for a fellow bandster

Banded July 1 - Doing Okay
Banded yesterday, I am off the good stuff they gave me in the hospital. I don't feel great, but not horrible either. Made a little walk, to the mailbox and back. Drinking is a chore, but I'm doing it. Going to follow the instructions exactly.

Surgery tomorrow, a little frightened
I'll be driving myself to the hospital in the morning, and I'll be alone. A friend is going to come when I am post op and moved to my room. I have to spend the night because of the CPAP machine I'm on. My son said he would come as soon as he gets off work tomorrow, and I've arranged for someone to come and feed the dogs and let them out. I want to come home in my van, as it is comfortable, and DS's car is not. My daughter in law will drive his car home when I'm discharged, and he will drive me in my van. The hospital is terrific, and I'm sure I will be well taken care of. A valium would be nice about now though! So, surviving bandsters, if you would please - post your support and good wishes?

Pre-Op Diet?
The nutritionist gave me guidelines and I tried hard to follow them. Today is pre-op clear liquids only, tomorrow the band. I've lost about 8 lbs on those guidelines, and am probably sweating off a few more today! Really excited, nervous, excited, scared, you'll know the roller coaster when it is your time.

2 days from Surgery
I'm two days from surgery too. I've cheated too. Scared that my liver is too big, and that I'm a chicken, just praying that I'm ready and will have an easy time with recovery, and NO complications! Good luck fellow bandster! I'll look for your "I:thumbup: Survived" posts on the 4th or 5th!

Why is weight loss so slow?-From a newbie.
My doctor was trying to push me toward the Roux NY - because of my age, my weight (314, bmi 52) but my surgeon said either would be good. So lapband here I come, this THURSDAY!

Questions
Thanks Michee! Still excited and nervous! Curves Lady recommended I take a month off and just walk the dogs while I wait for my Dr's blessing to resume the resistance exercises. Woo hoo, gas pain - here I come! :tt2:

Why is weight loss so slow?-From a newbie.
I've also lost good amounts of weight with diet and exercise. It is when I fell out of habit and pattern that the weight returns. I'm having the lap band so that when my willpower leaves me flat, the band can do its job and restrict. Only me can get me moving, and I feel so much better when I do. So, by trial and error, exercise will be part of my life. It helps that I enjoy walking the dogs and love my Curves women's fitness center. As for slow weight loss, I'm in menopause and I'll be thrilled with 2 lbs. a week! Can't wait, next Thursday is surgery!

Banded June 23
Congrats on your new band. I've been reading that the gas pains are the worst of it, and the best way to relieve that is by walking, heating pads and staying hydrated. Hope that every day brings an improvement! Don't try to do too much too soon.

Trader Joe's
I shopped there today and bought the pre cooked chicken-artichoke patties. I sure hope I can eat them after I'm healed up. Tender and lots of flavor.
-
Uggh! I have to post and are not proud.
I think it is all a learning process. I'm glad you didn't get sick or stuck.
-
Greetings from Missouri...
Good luck! I'll be going in next Thursday. Hope to see you on the losers bench real soon, and hope you will be here to share the experience post op.

Feels like food is stuck whenever I eat.
You are eating a lot less calories than before, right? Are you logging your intake? If you eat less, and are exercising, then your body will burn fat for fuel. Your metabolism sounds a bit sluggish if you haven't lost weight since the liquid diet. Talk to your doctor, something might be wrong.

Questions
This time next week I'll be in pre-op. I'm really getting nervous! Will I feel band and port inside me every minute? Will I ever do the whole circuit at Curves again? Will I gurgle when I drink ~ and will everyone in the room hear it?

Who's Getting Banded in July?
Excited, scared, afraid of what I don't know. Just had major household upheaval too. Stressed and a wee depressed but this has been a long time coming and I pray that I can be a success! I sure want to do everything I can to give myself, and my surgeon, the best possible chance for no complications. I haven't ordered the unjury yet, but will do that soon. I'm cleaning out the cabinets of what I know I won't be eating. Will be looking for pre-op countdown tips on how to deal! I'm alone, except for my pets.
