  1. MacMadame- congrats on your weight loss, I can't wait for the day I see the 100's...I haven't been under 200 in decades so thanks for the inspiration. Melanie1- great idea in limiting and measuring, how are you dealing with your head hunger? Mine is very stubborn and still very much alive, but the physical hunger is very little, so that's good. I just can't seem to tackle the food addiction, but I'm working on it. Do you all have any tips or things that have helped you? Thanks, Jeanne
  2. LRrose- that is tooo awesome that averages out to 6.5 lbs a week, totally freakin awesome. I'm averaging 4.5 lbs a week but I'm not getting all my protein and water in, what does your menu look like? Do you have any pointers? Thanks, :w00t: Jeanne
  3. band wanna be, Hey there, I have to say that it was a really wonderful experience...I looked for anything bad about Dr. Aceves before I picked him and I just could not find anything at all...and it is true, the whole staff was very nice, very personable, friendly and kind. The only small hitch was that some of the nurses could not speak english, but they always found someone who did and I got taken care of... Read "Was a bubble butt's" information, she has some awesome insight since she had the band and then the sleeve. Regardless of which one you choose, it's still hard work. The head hunger is a killer for me, but I'm working on it...Good luck with your decision, all the best... Jeanne
  4. Mandi78, Hey girl, keep your chin up, you are on the right path, you are trying to do something about your situation, just please think of the positive, at least you haven't gained anymore weight!!! I know exactly what you mean with the head hunger...I got the sleeve on July 30th and I stupidly found myself eating regular food, even when I was supposed to be on liquids, now why would I do that? Food addiction, hello how crazy is that? I can't seem to control my food choices if the bad food is around. The only thing is that I can only eat a small amount of it...but even though I've been eating small amounts my body is totally fighting weight loss. I've lost 18 lbs in 4 weeks tomorrow, which is great, but not as great as most that I've seen, soooo believe me I know about the head hunger. I'm starting a food journal to write down exactly what I eat to help me see what I'm doing...I am also focusing on trying to get my water and protein in... Don't worry, just try to do your best, that's all we can do right? I'm still worried that I've done damage to my new stomach and I hope it hasn't ripped, torn or burst, I guess I would have felt it if it did. But this head hunger is something else... I would try that Foodaholic program if we had it where I live, maybe they have an online support group kinda like this... but this works too... I feel ya Mandi, just keep trying day by day and hour by hour, I know what your going through...All the best, Jeanne
  5. Hey LRRose, Congrats on your awesome weight loss... I'm having a hard time getting my liquid Protein in, any suggestions? I noticed this last weekend I didn't get it all in and didn't lose as much weight. I'm down 18 lbs in almost 3 weeks, how in the world did you lose 33 in 2.5? That is amazing!!! Any pointers? thanks, Jeanne
  6. I am 17 days out and 17 lbs down from my sleeve surgery and I can't be more happy! I am not at all hungry-I still can't believe it!- still have the head hunger, but that's another story... I was going to do the band, but decided on the sleeve for the minimal after care since I live in a remote area. I am soo happy with my decision...No matter what you have to choose what is right for you, bottom line do your research and alot of talking to others who have had it and you will make the right choice for you... All the best, Jeanne
  7. Thanks LRose, I know that head hunger got me here, but your right I did the surgery and that was hard, so I can't waste my effort on eating bad stuff. I'm usually ok, but the hubby is a total snacker addict! I am buying pretzels instead of chips and SF instead of reg pudding...but I can't get over the whole "full thing," it is amazing! I'm full after 1/2 c, instead of the 2-3 c full over flowing plate, I used to eat, I am so amazed... thanks for understanding & sharing... all the best, Jeanne
  8. LavenderRose- You go girl, you can do this. The sleeve is awesome! I am 17 days out from my surgery and -17 lbs have disapeared! I just can't believe it and you are right I really do not feel hungry. My head hunger is still there of course, but it is sooo awesome not to feel that empty pit feeling. I ate a 1/2 c of soup yesterday for lunch and I was soooooo full I could hardly believe it, that lasted me until dinner time, no problem... It is such a miracle, thank God for this tool! I'm so happy with my sleeve! When are you scheduled? I highly recommend Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, great experience for 9500... PM me any questions... Jeanne
  9. Hello alll, sooo happy that they added this site. I too researched the band and stalked this site day and night, but I decided to go with the sleeve becuase I live in a remote area and fills would have cost an arm and a leg, plus I loved Wasabubblebutt's informaition and decided to go straight for the sleeve...best choice I ever made! I'm 16 days out with a loss of 16 lbs. The head hunger still gets to me and I have made some bad food choices, (and threw up-I know not good, very bad!) but I am really trying to stick on plan, 4 more days until mushy, I can do it... I had 1/4 c of clam chowder at lunch and I am still full, I mean full!!! Thank God for this surgery! No matter what you do, do it for yourself and you'll never be sorry... All the best!
  10. I love it! I too was scheduled to be banded, infact I had to reschedule 3 times due to different happenings, but a friend of mine asked why the band and not the sleeve...I ended up doing research on the sleeve and thought why not, less hassle afterward, no fills or flipped ports... and here I am today. 16 days and 16 pounds down. I can't belive it... If you are considering the band you should really look into the sleeve! I love it! Jeanne
  11. Wow! Thank you soo much for sharing, I know exactly what you mean by fat fort...I've had mine since I was 8 or 9. I too am comfortable in my fatness, but at the same time I long to be thin and trim. I cannot wait to weigh less than my 5'10" husband who is 219 and I am 245 and 5' 5"...just to get under 200 is going to be a miracle...thank you so much for your honesty and enthusiasm. I know its going to take a lot of head work for me, but I'm looking forward to it. I have 6 days and I have surgery and I can't wait to discover my hip bones too. All the best!!!
  12. Wow, congratulations for reals! I cannot wait for my day in 10 days....wheeeehewwww. I know it will be painful so I will keep on the tylenol, gas-x and walking for sure. It's great to know everyone's story just in case ours is similar...I'm soo excited for you!!! Please keep us posted in the post op thread ) All the best, JaJeanne
  13. I have the same concerns!!! Where can we find factual information comparing each band? The whole triangular fit has me concerned, but like its been said there is not alot of data to back ethier one up to be better...anyone have any ideas to get more facts? thanks :blushing:)
  14. That is a great idea!!! I am soooo excited, I can't stand it...All I want to do it to read this site, it's crazy! I am hoping for the best, but preparing myself mentally for the worst. I'm working on my will and funeral arrangements just in case...I told my husband that I could die in a car accident tomorrow so I'd better just be prepared. I find that if I'm prepared then I'm more relaxed and confident so that is what my plan is, but I'm still freakin out. I hope that this works for me. I have a good friend that had a band when they first came out, but it is not adjustable and she lost about 80 lbs and then put 30 back on, so she keeps trying to lose and lose, but she cheats by eating ice cream and candy...so that is why shes not losing...I am partial to Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie, but I only usually let myself have a pint when I'm "punctuating" But this last month I think I had 3 pints...oppps. Talk about last supper syndrome, it really is hard to curbe the head hunger... but that is why we are getting the band, to help us right? I'm sooo excited! I don't think I've been 145 since I was 8 or 9 years old, so I cannottttt wait!!! All the best to everyone, JaJeanne
