  1. man! you hit the nail on the head with this one! I have been having a really hard time for about 3 weeks... then today, all of a sudden... I could eat!... and eat I DID! still didn't overeat, but I ate more than I normally would have, and it felt good! Still, it gets frustrating trying to figure out why the band seems tighter at times... When I try to eat something and I feel like I am going to PB, I sneak off by myself because I don't want my "well-meaning" loved ones to know that I am doing that; I know they will say something, and what am I to do? I wanted restriction.. well, I got it... and I am in it for the long run! Is it worth it? Ask me after the first 100 pounds are gone!!
  2. hang in there! you'll get there! I am only 4 months into this thing, have lost 35 pounds, and I envy 115 pounds you have lost! I really look forward to buying clothes and not having to go to the "Plus Size" department! lol
  3. Got a great start there! Keep up the good work!
  4. I see you have some of the same problems I do... I can ONLY eat eggs from the Omlette Shop (CHEESE OMLET...they are fluffy and go down easy).. I have found that the Cracker Barrel is a good place to eat on the go. You can always find some mushy vegs if you are having a bad day; I find the Chicken dumplings filling and they go down easily, just be careful with the chunks of chicken. I have the PB 3-4 times a week, and I am constantly worried about damaging my band, but then I get back on track and I have no real abdominal pain........ trying to stay on top of things. Good luck! 70 pounds is a BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT! congrats!
  5. Sorry you have had such a bad experience! I had my band in Mexico and I live in Tennessee.. I was very fortunate, however, to get into the Fill Centers USA... They have been wonderful! They call for followups after my fills.. They call between times just to ask how I am doing. I do have the PB, but I just figure it goes with the territory. I guess I am just DETERMINED to get this weight off and get back to living life to its fullest! I have only lost 36 pounds, but it has made a major difference already! I am enjoying my German Shepherds, which we raise, breed, and train. I also just purchased my first Tennessee Walker horse, and I have been riding every day! I am loving life! Hope you find your place and happiness! God Bless!
  6. I know your frustration! I have plateau'd after my first fill. I still have restriction but I have been guilty of "eating around" the band. I eat what I know will not get stuck and end up eating too many calories.. Finally started counting calories again, something I had hoped would not be necessary, but I did not come this far to fail now!
  7. Thanks lfoss! It certainly does help! I was doing the same thing. I am in the process of reeducating myself also! Thanks! And Congrats!
  8. don't worry... that is normal. They do not leave any saline in the band during surgery. I had a followup appointment (which turned out to be a consult with no fill) and then my first fill nearly 3 months after surgery! I was able to keep from gaining anything, but I am only losing 1-2 pounds a week. Would like it to just "go away," but I think I am on the right track now! Hang in there! we will make it!
  9. Bless your heart! I KNOW EXACTLY how you feel! I had NO RESTRICTION either after my first fill... then 2 weeks AFTER MY FILL, my band got tighter.. and I mean REALLY TIGHT! I thought for a while I was going to have to have an "unfil," because nothing would go down! It is relaxing a bit now.. Don't give up... I was banded on June 20 and have lost only 32 pounds! I really wanted to lose faster, but I do feel I am on the right track.. just SLOW GOING! Keep your chin up!
  10. it is sooooo good to hear that I am not the only one having these problems! I was worried my band had slipped! I am able to drink fluids and I take liquid protein drinks.. but last night, I couldn't even keep pudding down! Seems there is only a certain time of day I am ALLOWED to eat.. about 2-4 hours after I get up, and if I miss it, I miss my meal! lol! I am hanging in there, trying NOT TO GET an unfill.. I wanted RESTRICTION.. I HAVE IT! lol!
  11. what kind of band did you have? this is the first i have heard of this!
  12. you will find that the chicken broth they bring you on the 2nd day is a God Sent! I keep it even now for the days I feel more restriction (happens sometimes 2-3 weeks after a fill) and I go back to liquids... the chicken broth is the only thing that seems to satisify me... Good luck! and CONGRATS!
  13. thanks for the info! This happened to me also! you would think after the first week post fill you wouldn't experience the "overfill" sensation! Glad to know I am not the only one exsperiencing this! i was a little worried for a while! Keep up the good work!
  14. Lisa, I just got my first fill (2-1/2 months) and am finally back on track! Don't despair! My first post-op visit was merely a "consult" and then I finally got a band fill, and i am finally losing again... lost only 25 the first 2 months. Hang in there! It WILL GET BETTER!
  15. I had my surgery done in Mexico.. They repaired my hiatal hernia at no extra charge! I was able to come off medications I had been on for 20 years! Heartburn is gone! Feels great!
  16. I had my surgery done in Mexico, and they repaired the hiatal hernia at NO EXTRA CHARGE! I came off my stomach medicine that I had been on for about 20 years! It is great!
  17. I actually found the lap band forum while researching a hiatal hernia repair! They repaired mine when I had the band... Was worth the money to get that repaired!
  18. You know you have good restriction when milk sours and comes back up BEFORE you can actually swallow it!
  19. Thanks BandPal! I enjoyed this! And for the past week, all of the above have applied to me! lol!
  20. Hey there! I am heading for Lap Band on the 20th of June. I was glad to hear somebody say you didn't have to wait 8 weeks before going swimming. I have my own pool, and I can't see waiting that long. I understand going to a public pool because of the dangers of infection. Hope you are doing well with your weight loss! I am feeling good about my decision. I feel like I am finally taking control again!
