Suggestions For Mushy Foods
if you are from the South, grits... I like applesauce but am unable to eat ground beef... red meats are a no-no for me... when I am having trouble with everything else, though, I can go back to my Protein shakes.. trusty shakes.. you actually get to where you WANT them! lol

Missing Fluid In Band??
I wouldn't worry. I have had this happen on a couple of occassions, and the next time I went back, it was correct. I am obliged to agree with your doc.. there are pockets and kinks and things in there where the fluid can sit, depending on your position at the time........ and those needles are so small with such minute settings, it would be easy for a doc to misread them also. keep up the fight.. you'll get there!

Need a Buddy/Mentor/ I'm desperate and failing miserabily
So sorry for your struggles! Main thing is don't give up! Remember why you started this journey and re-commit yourself daily.! I too can and have sabatoged myself in the past and eaten around the band. I have lost 92 pounds but have plateaued before reaching my goal... but every day I try to start anew... Hope you get back on track! God Bless!

Cant keep anything down??
I wouldn't get in too big a hurry to get more restriction... I went through the same thing a few months back. I had an "unfill" of about .5 cc and could eat anything right after.. but a week later, I found restriction again.... it really is strange.... my band is so fickle, can eat anything one day and nothing the next.. take a little "break" but be careful about over indulging... Good luck!

Cant keep anything down??
No jena, You're not alone. I have always had the "slime" but I don't throw up every day. I walk when I get it and the food will eventually go down. I am glad you are doing better. Keep up the good work!

Cant keep anything down??
Glad to hear everything is going well! I have had the same symptoms as you for about a week now. I haven't had a fill in about 4 months and all of sudden, seems like it got tighter. I went back on fluids for a while and all is well now. I had a "stuck episode" one day last week (steak.. big NO NO!) .. and I am pretty sure I irritated my band and it was swollen. At any rate, I am relieved taht things are back to normal now. I am self pay and really cannot afford to have a revision if the need arises... Keep in touch.. Hope all goes well from here on out.. and even with the aggrevation........... WOULD DO IT AGAIN in a heartbeat! My life is soooo much better, even though I am not at goal yet. But I will get there. As some of you said, have had a lot of stress and set backs, but we must keep pressing on. Hope to see "LESS OF YOU" in the near future! God Bless!

2 kinds of feeling stuck
Glad I found this... It sounds like we all have similar episodes. The thing that has blown me away this time is that I haven't had a fill in about 4 months... Was gonig along well, eating most anything I wanted and not getting stuck. All of a sudden, it was like my band tightened on its own again! I have had to go back to liquids and mushies this week (lost 5 pounds) but that is the hard way to lose! I am glad to see I am not the only one with a fickle band.. but it is still the best thing I have ever done for myself! Keep in touch. God Bless!

2 kinds of feeling stuck
Welcome to the life of Banding! LOL! Yes, steak is the one thing I have to really avoid. I can eat MAYBE one bite if it is not too well done and I have to chew, chew, chew until I feel like I have eaten the whole steak! lol! .......and steak always was and still is my favorite! I have been on this road 3 years and still have probs sometimes. most of the problems I have is when I slip into my old ways and do not chew as I should. Thankfully, so far (knock on wood), even with the slimming and PB'ing, I have not had a slip. but everytime that happens, I still get that feeling in the pit of my stomach taht I have somehow messed up my band and I am scared to death of losing it! When you get that feeling like you are going to have to throw up, if you can walk around a bit, sometimes it will go down (you can actually feel it when it goes down), and we all know it is better not to throw up if at all possible... good thing is, when you start feeling like that.. all of a sudden, you are not hungry anymore! Hard way to lose though! Good luck and keep us informed about how things are going for you! God Bless!

What do you think>>>
Just trying to find out.. What ever happened here? Did you have a slip? You described my symptoms above. Really scared i will lose my band!

checking in
Hey Tonya! Yes I am struggling to get the rest off... I did gain through the holidays and took 2 months to get that back off.. now, I am trying to get back on track after minor surgery (not related to band) and trying to get back to exercise. I have found I tend to eat a lot of "sliders" which is not a good thing. I do not drink sodas, however, and I do drink my Protein shakes. I have to be really careful not to overdo the shakes or I will gain also. I am just glad I have the tool I need to get back on track when things like this happen (unlike pre-band when I would just go out and buy bigger clothes!)... Don't give up! I'm not! Hope to see "less of you" soon! Good luck and God Bless!

negative feedback
i am self pay too.. now, I need another fill. But it is WORTH EVERY PENNY! My life has made 180 degree turn! Life is good! Make the best of it!

negative feedback
I agree wtih the others on here.. Lose that trainer! I stay away from all negativity (even if it is my family/friends)... We just avoid the subject. I have found that most of the negativity comes from people who either have never been where you are or.. those who are where you are but refuse to take the steps necessary as you have to make a change in their lives! Congrats on your decision! Stick to your guns! You will not be sorry! Hope to see "less of you" in the near future! God Bless!

I'm just not losing weight
Hang in there! Sooner or later, it will start falling off FAST! I didn't start losing until about 4 months into my journey.. talk about frustrated! But it started coming off and even through many, many personal battles it is still working! Just had another surgery and need a fill soon, but I am maintaining and looking forward to getting back on track! just don't give up, IT WORKS! Hope to see "less of you" soon! God Bless!

Denver area, still investigating
I can tell you.. I have had 2 children (10 lb 4-1/2 ounces and 10 lb 14-1/2 ounces)... I have had an abdominal hysterectomy with the "smiley" incision. Though I have a little bulge over the incision, I have lost 92 pounds (gained some back after total knee replacement and working on getting that back off) with 40-50 more to go. I am very active, ride horses, stationary bike and exercise when possible.. I do not as of yet, have that "dreaded apron" you speak of, but I still have 40-50 pounds to go. Even if we do have that, it is a lot easier to hide that with proper clothing than the "fat" I have been trying to hide for years! Good luck and God Bless! Keep up the good work, you are on the right track!

HELP...
Everyone has to make this decision... it is very personal! I can tell you the ONE REGRET I HAVE.. not doing it when I was younger! I was 51 when I had my surgery, had battled my weight ALL MY LIFE.. I still have 40 pounds to go, but have lost 90! Believe me, you WILL NOT REGRET IT! I would do it again in a heartbeat! Yes, there are pros and cons. I have a husband who married me heavy and has supported/loved me through all my battles and at every weight! But I was recently able to walk 5 miles with my 12-year-old granddaughter, and she had trouble keeping up! Life is good! Don't waste it on a couch! I had trouble fitting into plane seats (fit but barely) and was so ashamed to get on the "multiple-person scales" at Dollywood for the rides thinking people would "figure out" how much I weighed (like they couldn't already see that I was overweight)! The heat really bothered me when we took vacations, went on cruise, etc. I was active, but very conscientious about my weight. Life is too short... Good luck in whatever you decide! God Bless and keep you! Congrats on the start of you new life with hubby!
