kellym1220 reacted to Greendragonfly in Lying about not getting surgery is awful
I dont understand why anyone would consider not telling people that you had WLS a LIE?? If someone has the nerve to ask me how I lost weight I would just say I decided to get healthy. That isnt a lie. Its keeping my personal business private. If someone asks you how much your mortgage is or how much you paid for your car do you just blurt it out? Personal is personal. Honestly, what I weigh and how I did it or didnt do it isnt anyones business other than those I chose to tell. Unless it puts someone in harms way or hurts someone it isnt anyones business and I personally think its rude for people to ask.

I'm a whiskey guy. I started to drink occasionally at 6 weeks, even though my plan called for one year of no alcohol. This is not advice. I'm just posting what I did. For me, I needed as much normal as I could have, without jeopardizing my progress. I have been very successful so far.

I was going to the beach and grabbed one of my Rip Skirts, that I bought 3-4 years ago, when I was about 30 pounds lighter then my heaviest...it was WAY too loose for my waist, but did rest comfortably on my hips. I should be able to have it adjusted (with more velcro) but it was WAY TOO BIG! And...I went to the beach and wore a bathing suit!

Did you get an antacid prescription with your surgery? I never had stomach acid issues pre-surgery, so I didn't bother taking it. Then someone advised me that stomach acid can mimic hunger and that did the trick. I also got Soups from Panera (Summer Corn Chowder, YUM) and strained them. Thich enough to feel more like food...probably not a lot of Protein though!

I understand your concerns, but you should follow your nutritionist's advice (and possibly also see a therapist). I think you need to focus on fuel and energy, not empty calories. So if you need to add 200 calories to your diet, add some fruit to your Breakfast or add some complex carbs like oatmeal or brown rice to your meals. Don't eat something that you know might trigger you, like Cookies or ice cream.
    Take care and good luck!

Agreed. I think this one will not be a sprint, but more of a marathon. Just remember what your goal is and stay focused on achieving that goal. Go back to basics and start getting in the Water, tracking the food, starting to move more...it all adds up. Good luck!

kellym1220 reacted to Kap143 in Surgery yesterday- my experience
I had a sleeve done yesterday, late morning, and I am about 24 hrs out.
My doc put me on gabapentin the day prior, and I had some dilautid in recovery. SO much LESS pain than I anticipated. I was about to drink Water and broth all afternoon and night with minimal discomfort. Walked twice up and down the halls... today am feeling well enough to get out of bed alone use the bathroom and walk without assistance. Had a tiny (1/2) dose of some narcotic overnight, more as a precaution, otherwise have been comfortable with Tylenol and torodol.
Good luck to all the upcoming surgeries!

Surgery was the best medical decision I ever made! I just wish I had done it 5 years sooner!!
It's embarrassing to admit how much I was obsessed with food prior to surgery. I was at a fast food drive thru at least once a day, if not twice a day. Parties were more about the food than they were about the people. Vacations were planned around what restaurants we would we go to.
Not only do I have a brand new body, but I have a brand new mind! Now that I'm not thinking about food all of the time, I have this mental clarity that allows me to think about things that truly matter. I'm a better mother, better wife, and better friend.
I truly love myself -- both inside and out!!!

Scrambled eggs (for breakfast), yogurt, chili...not sure how cooking creative you are when camping, but what about taking foil packets with salmon and zucchini? If you will be using a camp stove, refried Beans with cheese (maybe make fajitas for the husband). You could probably eat a hot dog or hamburger, if you chewed it very carefully.

As someone who has had three LONG stalls, back to back, I still weigh every day...I just only record the drops below previous recorded weight. Otherwise, it's up 1 pound, down 1 pound, up 2 pounds, down 1 pound (ugh), up 1 pound, down 4 pounds...hit record, 2 pounds down!
