Tried to have 4 strawberries for Breakfast this morning, but i don't think it agreed with me. Not long after i was vomiting white foam 🤢
I felt better about an hour or so later. Maybe it was too soon? I'm almost 3wks out of mini bypass surgery.
Anyone else had this? I'm one of those people who absolutely refuses to throw up and will fight it to the end.

    I'm 4wks out of a mini bypass.
I've noticed I'm having trouble sleeping or staying asleep. I wake up about every 2-3hrs
it's not pain related, as I'm pretty much healed now. I'm just very restless.
anyone else had the same thing?

Sabs211 got a reaction from NovaLuna in Hypothyroidism and Gastric Bypass
Has anyone been diagnosed hypothyroidism and had a gastric bypass?
I'm 4wks post op and been so tired and lost a lot less weight than expected. Typical hypothyroidism symptoms. I can't get my blood test done for a while due to COVID-19.
Just wondered if one of the internal changes after surgery were thyroid hormone production?
    Thanks

I was going to go for the sleeve but my surgeon recommended the mini bypass.
Same recovery time as the sleeve but better long term results.
    I am 4wks out, started at 290 at 5'3. I'm 271 today i also have hypothyroidism.
But at the end of the day, it's upto you. Does your surgeon have a preference?

It is - that's what makes it easier for surgeons to do, instead of a tiny pouch like the RNY.

Sabs211 reacted to Ellf in As of Yesterday, 200 lbs lost from my heaviest
Weighed myself yesterday morning, and I was 227 lbs. The weight I was that got me to start this journey to begin with was 427 lbs., almost two years ago. Sure, today I fluctuated up 4 lbs. due to Water retention from what I ate yesterday (and not having a bowel movement until after I'd eaten breakfast), but I count that as a win. For reference, I was 360 lbs on the day of my surgery, 13 months ago.

I had mine in March as well. I dumped once (I was not paying attention as I ate 🙄) and learned that lesson!
I ended up getting my surgery done in TJ, as my insurance wouldn’t even look twice at weight loss surgery.

sounds like the three week stall that almost all of us go through (it isn't always the third week - it can happen any time within the first six weeks or so post-surgery). If you do a search on it on this site, you'll find hundreds - if not thousands - of posts on it. I had mine weeks 2 and 3. Just stick to your program - your weight loss will eventually start up again.

    Well done.
I'm almost 5wks (16th March) post op from a mini bypass and barely losing weight. It's so depressing and I'm struggling bad
I've lost 19lbs since surgery and 129lbs total since January 2019.
started January 2019 at 400lbs, 290 at surgery and 271 today.

I had to get into the mindset that the tool is a tool, and it’s forever. Sometimes I just want to sit down and eat for comfort, and that’s not an option any more.

Also, this is a process. I had the surgery and I had this “magical thinking” going on the the weight would melt away. I’m losing faster than ever, but it’s a pound at a time.

I was diagnosed with hypothroidism in July 2019, and had Loop DS. I've had a helluva time the last month or so with dizziness, fatigue, etc. My primary care doc did blood tests to check some things and found me potassium deficient and my thyroid underactive... again! I had been on the right dose before surgery, but your body goes through changes and so she had to up my dose. I've been losing slightly more weight in the last week since she upped my dose as I lost five pounds instead of my average of 3-4 so I'd say it's working. Hope they figure out what's going on and if it's your thyroid find the right dosage!

Being tired is a very typical symptom for anyone with rapid weight loss after a surgery! Our bodies are going through a major change right now!

Consult with your surgeon, but my bet Is that he will tell you that is normal.

Give yourself some love by not trying to do so much. Your body is still in recovery mode. It will get better & then you will have way more energy then you have had in a long time!

I didn't want the "dumping" syndrome so after having a failed band I had a sleeve. My surgery was the end of July and I'm down 95 pounds. I have no regrets.

Wow, thank you so, so much for replies! They were super helpful and I have actually made up my mind finally, woo hoo! I have decided to go with the bypass due to my bmi and due to issues with my metabolism being slow from my hypothyroidism, but mostly because I feel I can definitely meet my goal weight and stay at that weight successfully with this surgery. I am new on here, so I really appreciate the thoughts and insights!

Some of the afternoon fatigue and sleepiness may not be due to low calorie intake,

I'm in the UK so it's different but I think they'd rather have the tests done so they can schedule your surgery as soon as everything starts to become normal again.
Tests should be valid for a few months providing your health doesn't get worse
    good luck xx

I had my pulmonary and cardiac stuff done in August. My surgery was in January. So it can be done months in advance. Or at least here in California it can. Under my health insurance lol
