Food Before and After Photos
Ordered pizza for the kids after having a Mother’s Day photo shoot with my mom and siblings and giving her the ring my dad ordered for her before he passed away. Still managed a whopping 400 (approximate) calories for what I ate. However, I’m more shocked at the nearly 1300 calories my 7yr old (he’s below weight for his height because he never stops moving!)

Revision after only a year of Gastric Sleeve

Revision after only a year of Gastric Sleeve
I had a revision at 8 months after sleeve for a hiatal hernia of almost my entire gastric sleeve causing gerd which was so bad I had hiccups from the time I woke up until I went to bed. Life is so much better after revision. I rarely get reflux now and no more hiccups.

Food Before and After Photos
My mom wanted to go to lunch today as a family so we went to my dad’s favorite Chinese buffet. They make these amazing garlic green beans so that’s mostly what I ate. I didn’t even touch the rice I got. After, I spent a few hours gardening and picked my first strawberries of the year! So good! This was dinner tonight. Plate and calories (148 total) adjusted- And my plate after the poachers got to it!

Tonight’s kid friendly dinner- tomato rice (it’s basically lazy risotto- washed rice in the rice cooker with water to your first knuckle, a couple spoons of minced garlic, a pint cherry tomatoes, a couple heavy pinches of salt. When cooked stir in shredded Parmesan and either 1/2 cup milk or heavy cream and more water if needed) and Caesar salad. I basically just pushed around the tomato rice after eating a few bites.

Coping with grief after WLS
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Starwarsandcupcakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AThank you all so much for the condolences. He was the kind of man you always remembered meeting. He never knew someone as a stranger and even while sick would remind us that “any day above ground is a good day.” I now see the irony in him opting for cremation instead of burial- to keep making every day a good day.

Coping with grief after WLS
If you’re familiar to the food before and after thread then you’ll already know my father passed away April 17th. While it was unexpected in place and timing but he had been in declining health for some time so I suspected it was coming. My hope is that this thread will help someone else in the future with positive ways of coping that don’t involve food. Things that have worked (somewhat) have been- Taking a walk- this for me has been a moving forward Visiting their favorite places- my dad loved to fish so for me that has been anywhere you can drop a line. Hobby- either one of a loved one (my dad was a tinkerer so he did loads of things) or one of your own. This has helped me connect in ways that are deeper now than they were before. Talk therapy- while I’m personally not a crier being able to talk and share stories has helped tremendously with loss. If you have any helpful ideas, please let me (and others) know.

I’m too… all the things to cook so Chinese takeaway it is. It was pretty greasy this time but at least there were vegetables.

In case anyone is actually wondering what happened to those blueberry lemon cheesecake tarts I made for my trip to make final arrangements for my dad. Ah, the “perks” of traveling with a child with ADHD. I’ll have to remake them because siblings were looking forward to them and no one got any. Anyway, food choice have been poor lately but one day at a time. I promise to eat a vegetable today.

Food Before and After Photos
Today we’re road tripping to NY to pick up my dad’s belongings. Will be on the road a few days so I packed kid, adult, and grandma snacks. Lemon Blueberry cheesecake tarts, spinach ricotta rugelach, chocolate chip cookies, fruit salad, lemon poppyseed muffins, 6lbs of strawberries (because we won’t be home to use them), 3 clams of raspberries, Chex mix, chocolate covered granola bars, clementines, tuna packets, a skyr (for breakfast) 2 Greek yogurt bars, 8 protein shakes, individual salads, turkey, chicken breast, eggs, croutons, applesauce and yogurt pouches, and homemade pickles, zucchini chips and beef jerky. Kids also managed to sneak Reese’s pieces, Reese’s cups, gummy worms, airheads and Cadbury eggs into their luggage. ?♀️ I’ll eat again when we stop but today I’ve managed a protein shake, a rugelach a strip of jerky and about half the bag of zucchini chips (so about 2 zucchini!) Thank you all for the condolences, they’re much appreciated.

Food Before and After Photos
Yesterday was a crap day for food. I drank a 100 calories protein shake mixed in coffee while having a Reese’s cup for breakfast. Then I tasted stuff as the day went on with baking. Followed that up with the news of my father’s death, so I wasn’t hungry. Even with tracking everything including this honey lavender cheesecake… still didn’t break 1000 calories. Today will be rough but hopefully I can just get through.

Help with protein
Try silken tofu in smoothies! I forgot all about it. It’s smoother and not as grainy as regular tofu and blends great. Also maybe see if you can find collagen powder. It might sit better as it’s a different protein structure than whey, pea, or brown rice.

Help with protein
I haven’t read through all the replies but- bone broth- has protein and the added bonus of liquids. You can make high protein milk- 4 cups skim milk with a cup of dried milk powder stirred in. The bonus to this is liquid and you can use it to make soups to add variety. Ricotta bake- it’s basically ricotta cheese, a couple eggs, spices and topped with marinara (or can add after) and baked. I used to make them in muffin cups to warm up later. There’s tons of recipes out there for it. Maybe try a plant based protein shake to see how that goes. Many of the prepared ones and powders are whey protein as either concentrate or isolate.

Food Before and After Photos
Here’s todays meals and calories- breakfast was a protein shake with special k protein cereal (a whopping 39g of carbs per serving- I probably won’t but it again). And obviously coffee was needed with the rest of that protein shake because clearly I can’t even function to make it. Lunch was fajita meat and veggies and pea salad. I counted what I ate while making it but was done after the meat and veg. Dinner was surprise, another salad! The lonely piece of chicken didn’t make the cut into the digestion club. ? Also, in case you’re wondering what I do with ALL that fruit I buy. Tada- fruit salad! A mini watermelon, a whole fresh pineapple, 2 containers of blueberries, a 2lb container of strawberries, 4 apples. It made about 2 gallons of fruit salad and almost half has already mysteriously disappeared but I think it was the children. ?

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
@Vivis I know both my sister (she has gi issues) and myself (no gi issues) both had looser stools on the pre-op diet as it’s mostly liquids and no real fiber. It only lasted a couple of days for me and about a week for her. Hopefully it gets better for you!

Chicken breast, baby broccoli, and baby carrots with everything bagel seasoning. The chicken ended up getting dry so I couldn’t eat anymore.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Honestly it was accidental ? I just wanted to add unflavored protein powder to my broth but it basically turned into cheese curds because the protein powder was whey based. If you like cheese curds you might like it.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
I was only allowed 3-4 shakes a day, 2 cups of broth, cucumbers and celery. I found that freezing the ready to drink shakes for a couple hours made them slushee like and I could eat them with a spoon. I also used a cirkul bottle for water so I could switch the cartridge flavors pretty often and adjust the amount of flavor as I wanted. They have some good ones now like green apple and watermelon. I also mixed unflavored whey protein powder with bouillon powder and boiling water to make it into flavored “cheese curds” to eat in broth. Or I’d thinly slice celery and boil in broth to have a sort of noodles (not helpful for you I know, sorry.) Also freezing prepared crystal light into popsicle molds wasn’t against the rules for me so I did that so I could eat those.

Post Op Stomach Injections
I bruise easily. I also got several lovenox injections in that area before leaving the hospital. I also ended up getting an iron infusion before discharge because my hemoglobin was a 7.1 thanks to period related anemia and surgery the same week.

Made a monstrosity of a 3-cheese and onion quiche for dinner tonight. Ate a whole 34g before my stomach said, “yeah, maybe not.” At least I have my blended protein shake as backup. ??♀️

Food Before and After Photos
Mostly for price, quality, and taste comparison. I have teenagers who have claimed the remainder of them all mixed together. ? My usual order is usually a Starbucks venti mocha made with nonfat milk and an extra double shot of espresso. If I go out for coffee. At home (and work) I drink the equivalent of about 4 cups of strong brewed coffee a day on top of a couple Diet Pepsi bottles and about 80oz of water. My dolphin mug in my pictures is my coffee mug and I drink 2 of those most days. ??♀️ I’m actually surprised it flies with both my cardiologist and bariatric team.
