I won’t miss “losing” the remote and then finding it under me when I stand up.

    Sweating (I’m perfectly climate-controlled now).
Hiding from cameras (I loooove getting my pic taken, like ALL. THE. TIME.)
Snoring (I dont notice this, but Mr. is quite happy)
Packing a sh*t-ton of clothes whenever I leave the house for vacation or a day trip (Now, everything I need fits in my purse)
Being tired/winded at the tiniest exertion (I’ve got energy for DAYS)
Feeling shy/uncomfortable/self-conscious (i have so much confidence now its quite disgusting)

A fun thread! No matter where you are in your weight loss journey, what are some of the things you WON'T miss about being fat?
    I won't miss:
Wearing black stretch pants every day b/c they were the only thing that fit.
Avoiding social situations (high school reunions, etc!) where I might run into people that didn't know I was fat.
Chub Rub! (even though it's my BP name!)
Hiding from cameras, and worrying about others posting pics of me on FB.
Worrying if I would fit in the airplane seat.
    Crying in the shower.
Going to back to school night and watching all the skinny moms sitting at their kids desks and looking perfectly comfortable, while I tried to squeeze one butt cheek on the chair.

I'm sure I will think of some more, but here is my starter list for now!!!

I am officially 7 months post surgery and am incredibly happy with my progress so far. I'm down 122.4 lbs total, and 80.8 since surgery. A few of my NSVs:
    - The arthritis in my knees causes significantly less pain
    - I am walking 2 miles most days, and hiking when I get the chance (up to 6 or more miles)
    - My strength and endurance is increasing. I still get winded and need to take breaks (especially on inclines) but there's no way I could have done some of the hikes I'm doing pre-surgery.
    - I'm down from a tight 2X to a L or XL.
    - I have collarbones again
Below pics is from shortly after I started my journey (pre-surgery) to this morning.

Well these pictures are a couple months old, but I started at 284 pounds and I’m 5’4. I’m now 181 in a little less than 7 months post op. So 103 pounds lost!

yes, totally. i call it eye hunger, or memory hunger. my stomach is not telling me i am hungry, but i so badly desire a chipotle bowl or a slice of pizza or even a big salad with tons of stuff in it. only 2 weeks out. i have notice that if i take too big of a gulp of my chicken broth or Protein Shake, i get a very uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, so that sort of tells me i am not hungry. lots of talking to myself these days to change old behaviors. you will get there too.

I did too for at least 3 weeks AFTER surgery, then I got used to it.
If you want a good alternative to chips - get Quest Protein chips. They are a great protein source (19g) with low net carbs (4g) and only 1g of sugar. The Ranch flavor tastes just like Cool Ranch Doritos. They are kind of pricey though.. but Sam's Club and Target carry them.

Before surgery, people repeatedly suggested that I log my food at MyFitnessPal and weigh the food every day. That was way too burdensome for me.
But when I reached maintenance weight a year post-surgery, this became my life-saver. Through MyFitnessPal, I discovered that prior to logging, I was eating about 300 calories a day more than my daily required caloric needs (1200/day) and was wildly off when I guesstimated how much food was in a cup. (I always overestimated). If I hadn't started logging and weighing, I would be quickly regaining all the weight I had just lost.
    Yah, it's a pain. It's time-consuming. And it's burdensome.
But it may be what helps you lose those 10 pounds and shed even more.

you're not going to feel the restriction right away. First of all, some nerves were cut during surgery, and it takes awhile for them to regenerate. Secondly, most of us don't feel restriction until we start eating solid food. For now, you're going to have to measure your food and just eat whatever you've portioned out (following the guidelines given by your clinic). It's hard because you're not going to feel "full" for awhile - but just eat what they tell you to eat.
I highly doubt you've stretched your pouch - it takes chronic overeating to do that - but don't get back into the overeating habit. You're just a few days out. Trust your program.

When I'm awake I don't really miss the bad foods all that much. But when I'm asleep I dream of eating all sorts of forbidden things, and then freak in my dream that I'm gonna dump. Also I'm a vegetarian and I dream of eating hamburgers all the time. It's such a relief to wake up and find out that I didn't really eat the forbidden fruit...

Almost everyone who's on a diet (especially a low calorie one) will experience this sooner or later, usually rather sooner than later. You're depriving yourself of the foods you like a lot and it's pretty normal that you're craving them.
Expecting not to miss or crave foods you like and used to eat will just set you up for frustration.

In the same boat. My husband cooks for the kids and I have to see/smell macaroni, pizza, Pasta, and Cereal. I have chewed a few items and later spit. I'm also a good week away from pureed foods. You can do this!

What an attractive dish! The shrimp is seared to perfection. I'd expect nothing less. Now I want shrimp! Was it hard to leave behind the fettuccine Alfredo? I just want to dive into the image - grab my fork, twirl the Pasta and dig in. Looks yummy. ;]

My surgeon said that if I have issues with purées or soft foods, I should go back to the previous stage for a few days. Maybe you can try going back to purées or liquids for a few days, give your stomach a break, and then try food again. And try some different things. Maybe you’ll find something you tolerate better.

Best of luck Melanie. This isn't a big secret, exercise and watch what you put into your body nothing we all haven't heard 1000 times. I wish you all the best. I would however do something now though and don't wait until you're out of onederland.

are you still following the program and logging everything you eat? I still have to do it at 5+ years out, otherwise, my weight starts heading north again pretty quickly...

I am only 5 days post op and I am feeling so hungry. Is this normal? I am getting my 64oz of fluids in but having to make dinner for my daughter is making me hungry. Can anyone help me? This Liguria thing is killing me.

I don't think it's reflux, reflux doesn't happen when you're eating. Pressure means that you are getting full or are full, and burping means you are swallowing air with your food. Can you slow down? Put down the fork and chew until your food is mush and well-mixed with saliva? Then wait a minute or two until your next bite. My bypass was 6/29 and I'm still learning about what works and doesn't.

Getting in enough Protein, fluids and keeping up with Vitamins and minerals is important. As long as you are doing that, and your doctor is happy with your blood work - YOU ARE GOLDEN !!
Take care, and be well !!!

I had my 5-6 month check up recently. My levels are looking really good though my doctor wants me to stay on top of my hydrating. I also struggle sometimes with my Multivitamin, so I got a "smaller" one and only take one a day with smaller more specific pills for things im really deficient in. I take a multi Vitamin, Iron, Calcium, B12, Biotin, and Vitamin D throughout the day. The multi vitamin and iron are the hardest on my stomach so I only take them after eating and space them out. So it might take me 4 hours to take the multi vitamin and iron, but then I can take the other 4 much closer together. I'm working on building a fitness routine now also. Try to harden up and increase my muscle mass.

I've lost 101 pounds now, so I cant complain. Getting Protein is a breeze now. Easily get 70-80 a day. My 6 month checkup has been delayed twice now, once for a doctor emergency, and then my reschedule for this week was rescheduled because I got put under a health department quarantine order. Yay. So I have no idea where my levels are. My doc did tell me that I could switch to gummy vitamins at 6 months, so I'm (being the forever child) much happier with them now and it helps me to remember to take them.
