  1. Lol!!! Yes! That's exactly where my negative comments are coming from! I love my mom dearly but she can also sometimes be a bit of an a hole as well [emoji23] good to know I'm not alone, thank you [emoji3590] Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Alright so I had my VSG in January and attended my first large function since the surgery last night. I did get compliments on my appearance but also received some "you look sick/anorexic/too thin" comments from family (it was a cousins wedding). I am content with my weight right now, although I am currently trying to up my protein and build more muscle, but overall I feel fantastic. I plan on having one more child in the near future so I know I will put weight on during that process, so I kinda want to tell people to just back off [emoji23] but I'm a very timid person, so my question for everyone is, how do you deal with comments like this? I honestly wasn't really sure how to respond and felt kinda upset but I see where they are coming from, especially since they haven't seen me in a while. Anyhow, sorry for the long post, any tips are greatly appreciated! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

  4. Yes, that's the biggest issue is people thinking I'm dying of something (I am a pretty pale person too so that probably doesn't help). That is very good to know thank you so very much. I may have been being a bit sensitive as well due to it being *that time of month* lol. I appreciate your reply! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

  8. Are you on anything for GERD? That may be the issue if not? If I forget to take my protonix I get similar symptoms. Hope you feel better soon, best of luck! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

  12. Hey everyone! I'm about 8 months post op and down 110 lbs (which I'm ecstatic about!). I do have a bit of loose skin in the belly area and seem to be getting some kind of rash or infection in/around my belly button. I'm definitely documenting it and taking pics for possible insurance coverage of plastic surgery later, but my obgyn advised not to do any before I get pregnant again (I want one more child). In the meantime, I need to figure out how to stop these skin issues! Anyone have any experience or suggestions? Thanks in advance! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

    7 days post opp

You've got this!!! You are currently going through the worst part, in my opinion. Everything gets easier as time goes on, you'll be so happy with the results! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

    Pre op liquid diet

I was the same way as you are now. Pre op was honestly the worst part for me. I was on a liquid diet for 7 days pre op and I did break down and buy a few of those tuna creations pack and for a few days I would substitute that for one of my drinks. Just make sure they're very high protein and low sugar and carbs (the flavors have different amounts). I'm not trying to tempt you, just letting you know I was there too and it ended up working out for me, I had surgery on schedule and lost 11 lbs on the 7 day pre op diet. Best of luck, hang in there. Awesome!! Congratulations!! Definitely I think confidence and a positive attitude are key! Do you feel better? Like more energy and just better overall? 18. Nerves are perfectly normal, you've got this!! I found this guy's YouTube channel when I was preparing myself for my own surgery, and out of the VSG channels I've seen, his is my favorite and super accurate with no b.s... I'll post the link for one of his videos but the channel is called Fighting 400, he details everything from pre op diet to vitamins to the surgery and recovery. Best wishes Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well! I just wanted to check in and share a personal victory of mine! I have officially made it into the "healthy weight" BMI bracket for the first time in... well pretty much ever! [emoji23] I do need to still work on getting enough protein and water (sometimes I just simply forget to drink) but overall I feel much much better than I did before my sleeve, and I'm pretty pumped about fitting into a medium again!! Anyhow, I hope you're all having a great summer! Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-op Pain/Incisions

Hi!! I had my VSG done on January 8 of this year along with a hernia repair (so my experience may be a bit different). I had five incisions: one in the middle of my belly up towards my ribs/bra line, then the other four were in a line, level with my belly button, about 4 inches apart. The incisions themselves are about a half an inch except for the one that they remove your stomach from, that one is a bit larger, maybe an inch or so (that one was the most sore). I had a bit of bruising around the top incision and the larger one of the four, but not much around the others. My surgeon used surgical glue which fell off within a couple weeks and the wounds were healed, barely any scars. Hope that helps at least a little bit, take care! 21. I won't miss: chafing thighs and other bits, being self conscious everywhere I go, worrying if I'll be able to ride amusement park rides with my son, not being able to physically keep up with my son, being embarrassed to run into people from the past... Honestly I think I could go on and on lol Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

  23. Yep, I also experienced this and have seen many other posts about it so I think it's pretty common. It's almost like being in mourning or breaking up with a partner. I can't remember exactly when it stopped, but I definitely remember thinking "why did I do this, I just want cheeseburger" lol. It does get better, I promise, especially when you start seeing your body's transformation and have more energy [emoji3531] Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hungry post op

You've got this [emoji3531] it's super hard those first two weeks on liquids, I also felt ravenous and wanted to eat everything (or so my brain told me), any food commercial made my mouth water and cooking for my son also was tough. At one point (don't judge please lol) I even chewed a cheese puff and spit it out [emoji23] one of my favorite things during liquid phase was tomato soup with unflavored protein powder. I'm sorry I'm not more help, just know that when you get to the pureed stage you will definitely feel more satisfied and full. [emoji3531] Sent from my Alcatel_5008R using BariatricPal mobile app
