  1. Not a problem! Best wishes!
  2. Yes, I had a robotic assisted sleeve on 1/8 and had zero complications. The scarring seems to be super minimal as well, I'm thinking maybe due to the robotic assistance? I'm amazed to be honest
  3. Tons of broths, tomato soup, protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, and the occasional Gatorade Zero
  4. Just want to say congratulations to everyone in our January group! We made it! Now on to healthier lives and new eating behavior!
  5. Did anyone experience sore muscles (mainly leg and glutes) a few weeks after surgery? I'm super focused on hydration right now because I've been lacking the past few days, and now I'm thinking I'm low on protein and that may be the cause? Any ideas appreciated! (I'm taking my vitamins as well as Ferrex 150 mg and vitamin c 75 mg)
  6. Yay for UPMC! (I got my surgery through UPMC and they have been fantastic!)
  7. Maybe try going to see a therapist or a priest or even just a friend to talk out your emotions? Don't be afraid to let it all out, it may help you turn to food for comfort less often. Best wishes and I'm sorry for your loss.
  8. Welcome and good luck!
  9. You'll do great. I was sleeved on 1/8 and had no nausea, and was able to take tiny sips right after surgery with not too much pain. The hospital will take good care of you, and don't be afraid to ask for your pain meds, you'll want to be comfortable so you can walk. The day of surgery and until the following day around noon I was on a Patient Controlled pain pump with dilaudid, any time I had pain I'd push the button and poof, back to sleep. Recovery at home is much less painful, I think I only took the pain meds for 3 days and then the pain was minimal. If you haven't yet, I would say invest in an abdominal binder for post op, I woke up with one on and it helps a ton. I hope this helps a little! Know that you're making a life changing (for the better) step and your family will get to have a happier, healthier, longer living you!
  10. Wow, I'm glad it's not just me!!!!
  11. Lol brian10x, lots of cold showers
  12. Thank You! It's not a ton but I'm okay with it lol
  13. I agree with catwoman. The pre op diet is much more difficult than post op, but it does mentally (as well as physically) prepare you for what is to come. You've got this!
  14. Hope everyone is doing well [emoji173] finally got to switch to purees on Tuesday (surgery was 1/8)(cottage cheese and eggs are my staples) and so far so good! Down 13 lbs since day of surgery (I've only been weighing once a week so could be a bit more now). There are some head games still, but overall, I'm extremely happy with my decision to get the sleeve! (My clothes are already more comfortable and I don't feel like I'm stuffed into them anymore, big win!) Also I've discovered that I can now eat about the same (sometimes less) portions as my 18 month old, so we've been sharing most meals lately, which saves me time and money... score!!!
  15. Oh my gosh. I am so sorry you are going through this, especially right now. Know that even though we're strangers, we are all here for you if you need to talk [emoji173] keeping you, your son, and your family in my Prayers.
  16. Lol I completely agree! He is awesome
  17. Just wanted to share this video, as I found it to be super interesting, along with most of this Doctor's other videos. I'm definitely not a Doctor, so don't take this as gospel, and please follow what your surgeon tells you! Warning: Some Profanity, so make sure your kids aren't nearby!! (He tells it straight) [/url] Edit: I forgot to add the most important part -- this is only regarding immediately post op up to around 6 months post, not forever. My apologies!
  18. A hot shower and a nap... also lots and lots of water. Hope you feel better
  19. I had surgery on the 8th and jello is really the only thing that still hurts going down....i suppose maybe I'm not chewing it enough but it's the only time when I really still get that sternum pain like gas is trying to escape.... sugar free popsicles have been my favorite treat lol
  20. How is the puree stage treating you?? It's so odd the different diets each surgeon suggests... I assume they had you on one week of liquids, how long do you have to do the puree phase? I know each surgeon is different, so not judging!! Just curious! Take care!
  21. Here are some more suggestions from my surgeon
  22. Have you tried Quest? I really like their chocolate shake and the reviews on their cinnamon crunch shake are awesome so I'm thinking of trying some of that flavor. Good luck!
