Hello everyone! This is my first time posting anything to a forum, so please bear with me! I am 5' 5" and 225lbs. I went into my first surgery consult last night thinking that I wanted to have the gastric sleeve. Because I have a history of heartburn, and already take Protonix, my surgeon also suggested a gastric bypass. He said that there is a much greater risk of my heartburn getting much worse with the sleeve procedure vs gastric bypass. I also have type 2 diabetes, with A1C's always at or below 7. I take Jardiance and Metformin, although the Metformin had been prescribed originally for my PCOS. What has your experience been? How did you decide which surgery was best for you?

I kind of want to tell her my body my choice but that wouldn't go over so well. Although isn't that what women preach?

My wife isn't large. Never had a weight issue but shes put on a few since our first child.

You can't collect on life insurance if you kill someone where you are the beneficiary, lol. I used to work for insurance company and heard some interesting stories about that. As to WLS being a scam let her know RNY has been done for over 50 years. Also show her some of the before and after pics. That was one of my motivations, wanting to look like the after pics after spending all my life looking like the before pic.

For me pureed food included refried Beans. I mixed them with a little mild enchilada sauce and some reduced fat cheese. Also ricotta and cottage cheese is considered pureed. The only thing I couldn't puree was meat. I did a can of vegetable Soup in my blender for a minute and it was smooth. I added some parmesan cheese and a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder after heating it up. I suppose I should have added the Protein powder while I was blending it. Just do a search for bariatric pureed foods and you will find a lot of recipes.

I am starting to get a little hunger back. Nothing like before surgery. Eating a quarter to half cup of food satisfies me though. I still have a little bit of head hunger at times and like mentioned above me eyes can be bigger than my banana stomach. But I just save the leftovers for later. Been averaging about 600 calories a day with 60-80 grams of Protein.

Good Morning all you beautiful ladies. I haven’t been posting much since I have the same ole clothes. Nothing new lately. I think I need to change that. Just another work day for me. But I feel alive again since I’ve been sick. I hope you all have wonderful days.

If your plan includes it... Go for it (carefully) however
there are soooooo many alternatives that surely you can find something else if that doesn't work.
I saw these on Pinterest/Instagram and thought they were simply ingenious
    Good Luck 💚

    Hello all,
I got my gastric sleeve done on January 23rd and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m on Stage 3 now and I am so happy I can eat. My first meal was straight from the “book” and boy were my eyes bigger than my stomach literally. I can do it, you can do it, we can do it.

I had my sleeve on the 30th, along with a surprise hiatel hernia repair. I'm off all the pain and nausea meds and desperately tired of Jello and the other Clear Liquids. The only thing that is saving me is the bag of ice we bought at Sonic. I'm crunching that stuff like crazy until tomorrow when I hope they will release me from clear liquids on to puree. The lovenox injections are going fine too, except sometimes they leave a giant ugly bruise and sometimes they don't. Weird. I have been gratefully lurking reading all the posts and appreciate all the information it has provided me.

Same! Once I got over the nausea I'm able to eat (drink) plenty. Today I had 1 ounce yogurt, 3 ounces baby food, Protein Shake, 3 ounces pudding, 3 ounces Soup, 2 ounces mashed potatoes, and 4 ounces soup. Plus plenty of Water and tea ! I'm like did they give me extra room!? Haha. I sip all very slow and have one spoonful, put spoon down, etc. Today I feel great and finally had energy!

I'm 8 days post surgery, on my 4th day of full liquids and I'm averaging 66 g of Protein, and 488 calories, no problem getting down 64 oz of Water a day, and sometimes a bit more. It sounds like a lot when I read about the difficulty many are having getting in their fluids and protein. I have to sip, not gulp, but really, that's the only restriction. I'm worried that I'm already consuming too much!

I made this last night & absolutely love it!!! My recipe was a little different - smaller amounts & no egg, so a smaller portion & fewer calories, but basically the same. I baked at 350 degrees for 20 mins. but I might try broiling for the last 5 mins. So delicious! I think it will be my new fav!

Great job!!! Don't stop there, keep going. The more weight you lose before surgery the better it will go. At least that was my experience.

I had that a couple of days ago and it was no fun. It lasted about 30 to 45 minutes for me. I have really worked at setting my utensil down in between bites and taking only one small bite a minute. My dietitian recommends eating only canned meats during the soft food phase as it is cooked during the canning process and that makes it softer than cooked chicken.
