October Surgery Roll Call
My nutritionist has me doing liquids 2 weeks before (mostly shakes but allowed one small meal of 3 oz. of meat, cup of veggies and 1/2 cup starch). They tell everyone to do it, regardless of weight, in order to shrink the liver. I've been watching what I'm eating since beginning of July because I didn't want the liquid diet to be a crazy shock. Now that I'm 5 weeks away, I'm all of the sudden fighting the urge to have McDonald's and other things. I say (on no authority, lol), it couldn't hurt. Best of luck We'll all do great!

Can you take CBD products before surgery (no vaping)
I could ask. I just decided not to take any CBD. I'm just going to keep using my xanax when needed, as always and not use any products with CBD in it until I see all my docs next week. I was curious about this because I thought it was weird when someone said you couldn't take CBD. I just air on the side of caution. Thanks all!

Can you take CBD products before surgery (no vaping)
I wasn't intending on stopping the xanax yet, I am being tapered off under dr. supervision. I was asking about the mask form because I know a mask was purchased for me with CBD in it and that it can be absorbed into the body. I was only asking because I don't know if you're allowed to have CBD in your system, at all, before surgery. The post I saw by a person in some forum made me question that, and I don't want anything to hinder me getting the surgery or being denied. If anyone knows the answer there, let me know. Thanks!

Can you take CBD products before surgery (no vaping)
Hi All - I saw on one forum (not sure which, I'm on so may now), but I know some of you seem very knowledgeable (like Fluffy Chick). I haven't tried CBD oil at all yet, but I wanted to (I have anxiety and take xanax, but I want off and know not to mix the two). My sisters and I are going away this weekend and they have ingestible CBD oil and CBD oil face masks. Is it safe/ok to use before surgery? Someone said you can get rejected for surgery if you take CBD and I don't want to do anything to mess it up. I won't see any docs again until the week of 9/30, but I'll call them if I have to. I also know the person who said this is trying to quit smoking and they vape CBD - the doc probably wants them to stop smoking all substances, which is why they may have said CBD is not ok to take. Anyone know the answer on this?

What are your pre-op rituals/obsessions?
I've been doing to the docs since July 24 (first appointment was made in June, but, as we all know, it's a waiting game). I have my endo (re)scheduled to 10/3 (the first facility didn't take my insurance ?) and my pre-op with my primary on 9/30. My surgery is set (as along as all tests are good), for 10/28/19. I've lost 36 plus pounds on my own. I watch everything that goes into my mouth and I exercise. I also obsessively go on this site and facebook grounds about bariatric surgery and watch my 600-lb life when I'm not feeling motivated enough (I will tend to go for a nice, long walk after seeing their struggles). I read stuff every day. I feel like I'm obsessed! The date seems so far, yet so close. What is everyone else doing to prepare for the big day?

October
Yep, a lot of us are set for October now. I'm 10/28.

Looking for October Surgery Friends
I'm scheduled for Surgery twin! I'm also scheduled for 10/28. As the days tick by, I get nervous and excited. I'm just trying to focus on diet and exercise to go in as best as I can. It's all-consuming, right? I feel like, if I have down time, it's all I think about. I know I'm annoying people by talking about it. I try and catch myself. Those that know at work it's what they ask about (I have down time right now and I'm on here....). Sometimes I wish today was surgery day and sometimes (when I'm scared and nervous), I keep hoping time will slow down.

October 2019 surgery peeps?
Awesome!

October 2019 surgery peeps?
I cut the diet soda, and that wasn't too hard, but I know how hard it is for so many. I will miss the occasional indulge in it though. I have heard different things about carbonated beverages. Since I'm not crazy about them, I plan to stay away. I'm trying to stay as low in calories as I can, without going overboard, so that the pre-op diet won't be too hard. Some days are easy, others are a struggle and I want to eat everything. The days I'm home all day are the worst, so I try to keep busy as much as humanly possible (without neglecting my home, LOL). I find I don't get hungry cooking, so meal prep is a good at-home activity for me. TV, as with most people, is my worst time. I have cut down on my TV. I try and walk or whatever instead. You will do amazing! We all will Whoever says this is all easy.......they have no idea!

October 2019 surgery peeps?
I look forward to continuing the countdown with you. I've lost 30 lbs as of today. I'm counting calories and watching sugar/carb intake on my own. I am eating slow and trying not to have liquids with my meals and having loads of protein (no liquids with meals is HARD). I am ready for whatever the nutritionist will do to help (I have three of those appointments in total, and did the first...my next is 9/12). Good luck to you and I hope to see you on here

October 2019 surgery peeps?
Thanks for the info I know my doc schedules pretty quick, although if I didn't call and ask for my date, I wonder if I would have had it. All of my appointments are set and I've gone through a fair number of them, but I'm still going through things (Endoscopy scheduled for end of September). Hoping to keep my date, that something isn't off and all goes well.

October 2019 surgery peeps?
Anyone out there in October? ? I would really like some surgery buddies, though you don't have to be in October per say. Having someone to go through this with would be awesome. I can get in my own head easily, so I would love words of encouragement, advice, etc. ❤️

Surgery date approacheth
8/27 ladies, best of luck and speedy recovery! I wish I was close. I'm 2 months away as of tomorrow. I made my appointment in June and finally had my first doc visit the end of July and surgery on 10/28. I'm so happy for you all, keep us posted how you're doing!

Chewing Slowly
I had a feeling I got it somewhat wrong. But I had the jist, chew slowly so food doesn't get suck and you don't feel sick. For me, right now, it does help with digestion and getting full quicker. I have to work on the size of my bites still. I still shove it in, even if I chew it really well.

October 2019 surgery peeps?
Hi all, Anyone have an October 2019 surgery date? Mine is 10/28/19 (my surgeon is away for 2 weeks, so I'm at the end of the month). Oh, the holidays are going to be so weird this year (my birthday too, which is 11/19).

Chewing Slowly
I was told by my nutritionist that slow chewing is necessary, not only to feel full quicker, but, once we have our new tummies, they need to have fully chewed food. The "dumping" everyone speaks of that happens, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), is when the food we have isn't fully chewed. That is what causes the sick feeling and even the throwing up. I have been practicing, as best as I can, the chewing slowly. It is helping me to fill up quicker.

Wanting to eat everything before surgery. Help!
i have been trying to eat healthy since before my consultation late July. My surgery date is 10/28/19. I'm not having food funerals, and I'm exercising and I've lost almost 30 lbs on my own. Last night, after a weird craving I haven't been able to fight, I had a piece of carrot cake. Let me tell ya, it wasn't worth the crappy way I feel today. If there is something you absolutely must have, have a tiny bit now and move on. I think things are all in our heads, because we feel we may have to part with some food forever. Some, our soon to be new tummies may not like, but other foods we may have again in the future, in moderation. I'm trying not to see it as an end to my favorite stuff, but a beginning. This is all very hard. I have doubts about doing the surgery every day, but then something comes and reminds me of my why. Good Luck, you'll do wonderful!! ❤️

Anyone else feel like it's taking forever
That's awesome! Good Luck. I'm going to call my surgeon once I see the gastro doc next week and see if I can get a date before I have the endoscopy.

Anyone else feel like it's taking forever
It is indeed. I will probably have a date for October or November. Hoping for October because November is my birthday. Not that I'll be having cake anyway, LOL. I just want to feel good for the holidays.

Anyone else feel like it's taking forever
Yeah, I was told by the nutritionist to call the doc as soon as my EGD is done, and they'll schedule me then. So that's what I'm waiting for (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, LOL).

Anyone else feel like it's taking forever
I went to my consult with my doctor July 24th. I have been through my psych evaluation (only one required), went to one nutritionist appointment (I have 3 pre-op) and I have my appointment with the gastro doc on 8/27 (the EDG isn't scheduled yet - it will be after this appointment). I just want to get my date already! My insurance only requires a three month period but it still doesn't seem real until I know my date - and then I can go to my primary doc for the rest of the pre-op tests. I have lost 30 lbs since I started trying 7/14/19 to lose weight, because I wanted to be healthy. I'm happy I'm losing on my own but I'm ready for the next step. I feel like all I do is obsess about having the surgery and looking at everything about it, every day, from the procedure, vitamins, people's before and after pics, etc. I also don't want the doc to schedule my surgery for the date my father passed (10/21). I found out it would be a Monday and, sure enough, 10/21 falls on a Monday and I have this weird feeling that that will be my date. I hope I get a choice because I feel bad karma around that date. But I want it as soon as possible. Sorry, I just had to vent somewhere where people understand.

What shakes are good?
I have tried a few. Really love premier protein shakes. I'm going to try the suggestion of having it in a (decaf) coffee. I'm trying not to have caffinated drinks and I'm doing ok. I have been losing weight on my own. My first nutritionist appointment is this Thursday and I'm down 20 lbs by upping my protein and drastically cutting my carbs and sugar, except natural fruits in sugar. I'm exercising as well. I had a bad blip on Sunday, when I had Chinese food and my stomach was in agony, so I can't even imagine how people feel when they're post op and having the "dumping" syndrome. I think I'm off Chinese food now. The only bread I've craved is a good bagel (I live in NJ - we make good food...) or a slice of pizza. Thank you all for the advice
