I’m a nurse that formerly worked in a suboxone program. We almost never recommended patients go off their suboxone for any surgery. Our addictions team worked closely with the surgeon on a post op pain plan. You’ve encountered some unfortunate unnecessary stigma. Reach out to another program.

If you do look in to Miami, make sure you do your research. There are super cheap, high volume places that have high complication rates. I chose a surgeon that was on the higher end cost wise for that area but has a private practice and an excellent safety record.

I didn’t bother. My insurance required a year of documentation of failed treatment for infections under my hanging belly skin. Then they pay only for a panniculectomy (no muscle repair). I had a Tummy Tuck, arm lift, and breast lift/augmentation in Miami in January and paid $16,000. Prices vary wildly around the country. I would have paid $30,000-$40,000 for the same surgery in Seattle.

Tonight’s date night dress with the guy who is now official boyfriend status ❤️ He planned a great night at a wonderful Italian restaurant in Portland. Good food, but even better company!

Zero regrets. I’ll be three years out from my VSG next week. I’ve met my goal and maintained it. I’m happy & healthy. This was life changing. I only wish I’d done it sooner.

Thank you, I believe that too. There’s someone out there who will appreciate all of who I am and the journey I’ve gone through. For now though I’ve got to just take care of me and get through this.

I’m a nurse, I was working on an addiction medicine team until late last year. We typically did keep our patients on their suboxone dose post op and treated for pain with short acting full agonist opiates like dilaudid in the immediate post op period.

I’m down nearly 140 lbs. I was also afraid of loose skin, and boy did I have it. However, my only regret is that I didn’t do the surgery sooner. I’d take very flap of skin any day over the health complications I had from being overweight. I had a Tummy Tuck, arm lift, and breast lift/augmentation in January. It was more affordable than I thought, I found an amazing surgeon in Florida where PS is less costly than much of the country.

Over the last year my previously supportive husband has grown increasingly insecure. The icing on the cake was my plastic surgery in January. Although he seems to like being seen with the “hot” wife, he’s also incredibly insecure, and has suddenly, after 7 years, decided it’s important to him to have a subservient wife. Something I’ve never been. No amount of reassurance is talking him off this ledge. Ugh.

I was one of the unfortunate folks affected by divorce post WLS. I started dating about 6 months ago. I didn’t tell people about my WLS on first dates, but would often just suggest coffee or happy hour dates to avoid full meals. I went out on lots of first dates, a few second dates and never told anyone until I met my boyfriend. On our third date at dinner I told him why I eat smaller amounts. He’s been super supportive. I did have plastic surgery a little over a year ago so a bunch of loose skin isn’t an issue, but told him about that as well as I do have visible scars.

kristieshannon got a reaction from Summermoose in Can obesity be a culprit of depression?
It can be part of a whole negative feedback loop. You’re depressed, spend more time in bed or on the couch or self soothing with food, so gain weight, which makes you feel worse about yourself so you isolate more. There’s a big study out of the UK that says the initial prescription for depression should be physical activity rather than medication (although meds are often necessary). It doesn’t have to be rigorous exercise, just getting out for a daily walk is a great start, or even just gentle stretching. (I’m a psych nurse)

Try different temperatures. Warm liquids such as broth were more satiating to me early on. Pho broth was a lifesaver!

kristieshannon got a reaction from Tomo in Thigh lift
I didn’t think I would be heading for another round of PS, but at 6 months post op from my Tummy Tuck, breast lift/augmentation and arm lift I am now planning to get my thighs fixed. I’ll go back to Dr. Earle in Miami for it. He is amazing and I trust him and his team. I’m booked for a thigh lift with him next March. However, I want to get de-bulking Lipo done first after I get back to Seattle after my summer living and working in Boston. Anyone have this done prior to a thigh lift? Anyone here have lipo in Seattle and have someone you can recommend? Thigh pic for reference.

100 is not normal for the PNW. Used to be once every few years we’d hit that high maybe one day out of a summer. We’ve had 3 100+ days this year, and more predicted this week. Climate change 😡

The date was great, he’s very much Mr. Romantic :)

Every doctor and plan is different. If your team says it’s ok give it a try. Just go slow! Also, as catwoman said eggs are a pretty common thing people have trouble tolerating post op. I’m just about 3 years out and still don’t tolerate them well.
