Day 4 post op went well still up and walking a lot were both feeling well still other than the pulling feeling. Introduced a couple sips of full liquids and we’ve both lost 2 more lbs! Oh and although I never liked popsicles before, outshine sugar free popsicles are life! Oh and No BMs yet here.

Whoa I think we’re being a little tough on @drbriang here. Everyone’s journey is different there’s no reason he needs to sentence himself to a lifetime of bland and boring there are plenty of healthy nutritious options out there. He didn’t say he was looking to eat a pepperoni pizza all he asked for were some tasty suggestions.

CBC, urinalysis, upper GI, chest X-ray, and pulmonary test is what we had.

We are post op Day 4. We’ve been on clear liquids thus far, today we start working in some full liquids for the next two weeks. Up and walking as much as we can. As of last night. He’s lost 14lbs I’ve lost 12lbs.

I don’t see where we have a thread on the post op side! So I figured I’d make one since very soon we will all be on this side!

Just to clear up the hernia was repaired the spasms were being caused by the sutures in my esophagus

We’re Alive! Husband & I both had VSG done Tuesday. Both VSG were textbook, unfortunately I was found to have a severe hiatal hernia. My esophagus kept spasming during the first two days causing me to vomit 5/6 times in a row every 20 minutes or so. That part sucked but as far as the pain from the VSG there was and still is hardly any just soreness. At the larger incision site. We were up and walking A LOT in the hospital. We are settled at home now sipping on clear protein. No regrets.

Giving them a call just to clarify wouldn’t hurt

This is the list from our surgeon. We didn’t get all of it but used it as a guide. Also not listed here is the "kit" from the surgeon that you purchase the week before surgery with different protein mixes, soup mixes, drink mixes etc. I went to SAMs and bought a boat load of readymade protein, sugar free Gatorade, flavored water, water etc. We normally use UNICO protein but the readymade will just be easier immediately after surgery. And we didn't need to purchase kid sized plates and utensils because there are plenty of those in our house anyway!

Ours is clears until day 4 then full liquids until day 14 then we go to a couple weeks of puree

July 2019 Week 2 Crew is coming in hot! We have finally made it we are just a few short days away! Our new chapter is almost here! Are you guys ready? Packed? Bought your post op groceries? I'm on nights this weekend and for once not struggling to stay awake because I am beside myself with excitement! I am planning to pack us on Monday. We check in Tuesday morning and our surgeries are an hour apart. I cannot believe it is FINALLY almost here! Thank you everyone for the replies. It will definitely be interesting you see how it goes for us.

My husband and I are having VSG on Tuesday. Before I ask this question I just want to say that we are aware every person and situation is different anyway, we were talking about a few other couples we know who’ve done this and how exciting it was watching them lose and picturing ourselves in their shoes soon. I’m just curious on you guys journeys how much had you lost at your milestone appts? Post-Op Apt, 1mo, 4mo, 6 mo, 1 yr etc.

Because of the nature of my career my life is in danger every time I walk into the gate so all the "just incase" insurance stuff has to stay up to day and accessible in the event that something should ever happen so honestly the thought of preparing those things for surgery risks and complications never really crosses my mind because I'm so used to having them all prepared anyway.

My husband is an ex smoker and I've never smoked a day in my life, for us all the pre-admit testing was the same. Upper GI Test, Chest Xray, Full Blood Panel, Urine Analysis, Pulmonary Test and EKG. Luckily for me because of the chemicals I work with I have to do the pulmonary test every six months so I am pretty versed on the process.

We did all our pre-admit Testing & blood work Friday, we are officially cleared for surgery! 9 more days!
