Any August 2019 people out there?
My surgery is on 8/5 and I also did a hardcore food funeral. All your fears are normal. Its exactly what I've been fearing. Its scary to think that our lives are going to change so drastically. For me, its such a fear because food is all I know. I associate happiness with food, celebration with food, fun with food, and the list can go on, but that's about to stop. To imagine another way of life is almost impossible. I even posted a topic a few weeks ago about how I felt like this surgery was ripping a part of my heart out and tearing my culture away because food is a huge thing for Peruvians. To be honest I haven't fully conquered these fears and my surgery is this Monday :O Last night, I stayed up late second guessing my decision and thought about why I decided to take such an extreme approach. I asked myself questions like: Why cant I just be "normal" and diet instead of cutting off 80% of my stomach? why cant I just do this without surgery? My answers to my own questions began to calm my fears and made me realize why I'm doing this in the first place. No amount of fear can outweigh the want to be HEALTHY and LIVE a life worth living. Try focusing on whats more important... Its not easy but you got this!

Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having
Isn't it exciting!? I already had my last visit with my surgeon last week and tomorrow I do labs at the hospital to get ready for the big day on Monday. That's reassuring to hear about your sister-in-law! I sit all day anyways so hopefully it isn't too bad. I'll keep that virus thing in mind lol. Good luck on your recovery and with this wonderful journey!

Fitting in all my favorite foods
I had a food funeral too I tried to focus more on meat since I hear its hardest to digest after surgery. I had Korean BBQ, Ramen, steak from Longhorn, cow tongue tacos (I know, weird lol), and a few other things. My family also cooked some of my favorite dishes a week before.

Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having
No worries! That's a good explanation for the weight loss. If my coworkers were decent enough Id probably come clean but they're not. Hopefully you get to be honest and feel comfortable. I just happen to work in a small office with horrible people. Good luck to you too! My surgery is on 8/5, this upcoming Monday. I told my coworkers I'm going on vacation to Mexico lol. I only have a week off though. I'm scared its not enough. Did u have your surgery yet?

Day 1 on the Pre Op Diet!
Nice! Just one day after mine! Your diet is similar to mine too except I need 4 shakes a day and the one meal. Id be terrified with weight goals. Definitely adds the pressure but its good they want you to stay on track. Congrats on making weight! Today's day three of this diet and its getting harder. I find myself very hungry after work, especially at night. I've been sleeping early to avoid eating... not the greatest thing but I guess I'm more energized when i wake up. Thanks for the support! I've been feeling a bit down lately and just afraid of failing. Gotta stay positive and focused!

Day 1 on the Pre Op Diet!
My nutritionist told me to stick to minimum 15 grams of protein per shake and four shakes per day. I've been drinking Atkins protein shakes. I'm going to switch to the Premiere water and shakes because they have less calories of fat and more vitamins then the one I'm currently drinking.
-
Day 1 on the Pre Op Diet!
Thanks! Ill definitely try that! Do you think it will work the same with protein water and be just as filling? I just bought a pack of the orange mango premier protein water and I noticed it has less calories than the Atkins shake I'm currently drinking.

Day 1 on the Pre Op Diet!
Nice! Congrats! Just two days before mine I feel the same. Its a psychological thing for sure. We gotta do everything possible to stay strong! I've been trying to think about it this way: If I cant do the pre op diet without cheating then I cant do the diet after surgery and I wont have long term success. Good luck! ❤️

Day 1 on the Pre Op Diet!
Wow! Sounds like you're doing great! I guess once I start losing weight on this diet I'll continue to stay motivated. Maybe I should start sleeping early because I also get hungriest at night. You're right, protein shakes are not really weird to be having but I'm just trying to be extra careful so that my coworkers don't find out I'm having surgery. I ended up pouring two shakes in a container and added a ton of ice. I've been sipping all day and just finished. One of them asked me what I was drinking this morning and the first thing I blurted out was horchata lol. Good luck to you too! You're a vet, you got this!
