This is me pre-op (left) and 5 months post-op VSG (right). Will update after this stall ends and I start losing again.

My surgeon's office says to expect it to take 12-18 months. Apparently I'm a slow loser, so it's going to take every bit of that. But I'm still happy with my progress, as any weight lost is better than no weight lost.

Surgery is just a tool and won't help you with the head hunger or choosing wrong foods to eat or night eating. Have you thought about going to the group therapy classes offered by your surgeon's office? The head hunger is more of a battle than physical hunger.

I had disappointing news yesterday that I was going to need two crowns on my teeth costing $1800. At first I thought of "comfort food" but thankfully those feelings went away quickly and I recognized that this wasn't a problem that was going to be solved by food and that I just needed to deal with my dental issues. It worked, I didn't eat anything in a panic!

You've got to get rid of that head hunger. The surgery is a tool to help with your real stomach hunger, but the head hunger is up to us to manage. Have you considered therapy or group counseling at your bariatric office?

I'm so excited, I'm doing the happy dance! I just got a message from my pulmonologist's office letting me know the results of my in-home sleep study last week. I've had Obstructive Sleep Apnea for 3 years and using a CPAP. I had gastric sleeve surgery 12/11/18 and have lost 35 pounds since surgery/50 pounds overall and so I felt like maybe I no longer needed the CPAP. She said the results are that I NO LONGER NEED A CPAP! I don't have to sleep with that thing strapped to my face anymore! The weight loss did it!
Now this one deserves a happy dance too, but I didn't get an exciting phone call about it . . . I also no longer have GERD since my sleeve surgery 3.5 months ago! I've had GERD for 10+ years and had it pretty bad in the first couple of weeks after surgery, but now it's gone away completely. Woo-Hoo! Woot-Woot! 🙂

I know how you feel. I'm 50 pounds down but I feel bigger now than when I started because I didn't realize how big I was when I had surgery. I just couldn't see it. I was in denial. Now it's right in my face and I see every pound and inch of it.

It's just normal Water and weight daily fluctations probably. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I totally understand , somehow what I thought a 70 lb. weight loss would look like doesn’t coincide with what I DO look like and obviously I am looking at how much longer I have to go instead of where I have come from. I also don’t believe it when people tell me how good I look . When someone compliments me I rattle off how much more I still have to go. I wish I could accept my success. Sometimes all I see is a wrinkly neck and sagging skin... but there are really good days as well.. is still never go back and the good way out weighs the bad. All we can do is change what we can and accept the flaws and not expect perfection .

So far I've been to the gym every day this year in 2019 (all 13 days, haha) but my goal is to work out at least 4 days per week. I do 30 minutes of cardio and 10-15 minutes of strength training each session, but I want to eventually ramp up and work out harder/faster/longer, but I'm only one month post-op so I'm still healing and don't want to push it yet.

Mine aren't firming up no matter how many arm exercises I do, so I'm just choosing to live with them. I like bats. 🙂

I had to do an h pylori test. I had already had test results from an endoscopy a few years ago. I did a psych eval. I had to get clearances from my PCP, cardiologist, and pulmonologist.

I am six months post-op and have clinical depression. I went through a small "cycle" of depression about a month ago with no apparent trigger, although it could have been surgery-hormone-related, but it's cleared up now. Hang in there.
