  1. Yep me too. I had the annoying hip and lower back pain for the first few months post surgery. It hurt when I sat/laid down/stood/whenever. I read (and was told) it was because my bones/musculature had long ago adapted to carry the large amount of weight I had, and during rapid weight loss phase, the body was not quite as quick to adjust...hence the pain. Heat application and exercise were my friends. If I recall correctly, the pain went away around 4-5 months post-op (though your mileage will vary depending on how much weight was lost and how long you were at that higher weight). P.S. on the flip side of things, my knees, upper back and foot pain went away in the same period!
  2. Hiya fellow Canadian! ?? My two cents: Unless you have a history/tendency of GERD, then either surgery will work for you (if you have GERD, it is often suggested NOT to get the sleeve as there is a high likelihood that it will worsen) You may read it around here, but when it comes down to it, its not the type of surgery that leads to success, its the person and their actions (barring any complications, of course). With that said, I chose sleeve, because, like you (and others) I did not want to change my "plumbing" too much. This was just a mental/personal thing, and not based on anything scientific. However, I also wanted to keep my pyloric valve intact so that I could theoretically continue to use NSAIDS..but jokes on me, after surgery I no longer needed them. I started off with a BMI of 43, got to BMI 23 in about seven months, and now have been comfortably sitting at BMI 21 for well over a year (I will be 2 years post op of at the end of this month). Get your surgeons opinion, and go with what you feel most comfortable with. Whatever surgery you decide on, so long as you stick to plan, you will lose the weight. Good Luck! ❤️

Let's see 'em! (please) Yeah, I stopped wearing properly fitting underwear about a year ago. They either wedge up my bum or sag like diapers. Le Sigh.
  4. Oh, and bring a pillow to hug on the ride home...helps to hold over your tum when you go over bumps!
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians out there! ?? ? Our spread for this evening: Instant Pot turkey breast (then finished in the oven) w/ gravy; cranberry stuffing, mini smashed potatoes with sour cream, and buttered carrots. My plate: Turkey w/ gravy, 3 potatoes w/ sour cream, carrots: 303 calories. Ate pretty much all of it except 1 potato and 1/2 the carrots (Mr. ate what little leftovers I had, so no after pic).
  6. +1 for the chapstick i also brought a bottle of biotin spray for the unbelievably sore/dry throat that i woke up with after the surgery. (everything else I brought was left untouched in my overnight bag...well except my phone)
  7. Just saw this in Instagram...could be handy for those in weight loss phase (i sure could have used it!) FullSizeRender.mov

My name is <...> and I’m a Shopaholic. I need help. I cant stop buying stuff. This was totally an impulse purchase and I definitely don’t need yet another jacket but it was such a steal, I just couldn’t resist. One of several buys from today: a butter soft Camel coloured leather jacket for $120 (marked down from $600!!!!!) P.S. the temperature around here better not dip too much soon so I can at least wear it for a little while this season. P.P.S. I loooooove the smell of new leather...i can sniff this jacket all day long. P.P.P.S I’m not wearing pants and my undies are embarrassingly too big, hence the censor-cloud, lol

Gee-zus. The results of your hard work these past few months is jaw-dropping. That’s it. Im gonna start using the weight machines in my basement in earnest now. I wanna be ripped too! There. I said it. Now i HAVE to do it. Seriously, super high five to you, Jake.
  10. Being the borderline-hoarder that I am, I had kept all my “skinny clothes” from years ago. I slowly went through all of them all as i lost weight, and when I ran out, that’s when I started buying new clothes. Sadly, i only wore some of those new clothes for a few weeks, but I enjoyed shopping for them and getting to wear them (even for the little time i did) so it was worth it. Oh, and I also started wearing some of the Kid’s hand-me-downs (actually i still do, lol). I will suggest though to invest in some nice stretchy pairs of leggings, and wrap dresses/skirts as the usage of these tend to span a few more sizes vs, say a pair of jeans or a jacket. And get some belts! Good luck! (and happy shopping!)

? Shhhh...its the 3.5 inch booties! **correction: just measured, they are actually 4 inch, lol**
  12. Ok, I need to know what Yum Yum sauce is! This looks delicious...and i think we have another professional food photographer in our midst!
  13. Ooohhh i want. Was it easy to make???
  14. Right? Lol The one with the thickest, greenest soy-wasabi sauce is the winner.
  15. I just noticed that your wasabi packets were untouched?! What is sushi/sashimi without wasabi?!?!

So went to try to exchange my baggage claim suit for a smaller size, but there were none left ?. So I got these 2 pairs of jeans (same style, just different rinses), plus this cropped polo shirt for the same price as the returned jumpsuit + another $4. Triple Score! I heart end-of-season sales.
  17. Brunch with The Kid: Had I eaten the entire thing as shown, it would've logged in as xx734 caloriesxx **Correction: (forgot to add the bacon): 934 calories for the entire thing. Estimated calories based on what I actually ate (i.e., the entire salad, 1 egg & 3/4 of a sausage, 1 tsp maple syrup (not shown)) : 200 calories (took the rest home and it was promptly devoured by Mr.).
  18. The panniculectomy portion of my procedures (Breast Lift, Arm Lift, Tummy Tuck) was covered by insurance, as was the hospital stay and all meds, the rest was covered by my bank account.
  19. Ok, so that yogurt did not do it for me and im still kinda hungry. Soooo next up: a trusty salad: 264 calories.
  20. I’ll be 2 years post-op at the end of this month. ? (time flies!) I got to goal at 7 months, but i lost a few more lbs over the next few months after that trying to figure out the whole maintenance thing. But I’ve basically been my current weight (give or take 5 lbs) for well over a year. As for the whole calorie counting/tracking, its not for everyone, but I’m anal like that so keeping records and data and taking measurements and making graphs and all that sort of stuff speaks to me...I probably even enjoy it a little (ok, maybe alot!). I’ve been called obsessive/fanatical/crazy, but whatevs...its actually fun for me, AND I look great in jeans, lol
  21. Afternoon snack: strawberry yogurt cup with 1/2 fl oz of pumpkin seeds: 142 calories Plus, (not shown) 1/2 an almond biscotti: 55 calories
  22. Me too! My extra battery power actually started about 4-5 days into my 2 week pre-op diet and it's still around at almost 2 years post-op. I actually sleep longer/more soundly now though. I sleep about 6 hours straight uninterrupted on average, and am fully awake and energized throughout the day. I used to sleep maybe 1-2 hours at at time over an 8 hour period, and would be often be tired during the day and would need a nap sometimes. Quite annoying. To the OP, as GT said above, a B12 of Vit D deficiency can contribute to low energy levels. Have you had your labs done recently?

hmmm....methinks you got some nice, fine looking legs hiding under those jeans...i can tell!

@Nermada, oh, I also meant to say something to you way back when I read you post and my thoughtlessness got the better of me... I do hope that things are on the mend at Casa Nermada, and am sending you good vibes all the days long ❤️
