Pre op diet and cheating
My surgeon says liquids only for the preop diet so shakes must become your best friend also because you're on liquids post op as well for a while. I've started my own high protein diet before my preop just to shed some lbs. Cut out all fat and sugar and carbs. Gave up energy drinks and all junk food and count calories everyday. I've found with high protein I'm full quicker and for longer and already shed 20lbs in 8 days, I get that it was mostly water weight at first so it will get harder as the weeks go by but I'm doing everything in my power so that when I go see the surgeon next he will be impressed with me. I feel it is better to get into the routine of diet change before surgery otherwise you will suffer post op with falling off the plan and in turn causing yourself issues with getting the best results. We see all kinds of people with all kinds of results and if you ask those who lost 100lbs in 6 months it will most likely be that they were strict on themselves from the start. If you're having trouble adjusting you might benefit from seeing a bariatric psychologist or nutritionist to help you. Good luck everyone.

Skin folds!
I think men have easier chance of skin bouncing back due to our muscle mass. I remember 2012 I lost like 90lbs and had minimal loose skin. Of course I'm older this time but I'll be looking into exercises soon enough to help.

New to Bariatric Pal!!
All you really need is a good quality high protein powder to make your own shakes if you like high protein is important while limiting carbs and sugars preop! Also if you can start to cut out sodas and alcohol it will help a lot.

Changed from Sleeve to RNY Bypass
Is best to go with bypass as there are so many ppl being revised to it from sleeve anyways for numerous reasons. One post I seen this lady had to be revised only weeks after sleeve. Yes the bypass is a little more complex but It is better for long term success !

IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT EXERCISE???
Just curious like I know people exercise to burn calories. But if someone was only eating a small amount of calories compared to normal is it possible to continually lose a good amount of weight long term or will exercise need to be added?? I'm eating easily 1/3 of the calories I used to plus adding more protein everyday just I don't get much activity in! How long will it last before I need to add exercise/burn calories?? Tnx

Can't tolerate protein supplements.
You'll need a vegan protein or ISOLATE which will help with stomach issues...

Is 1000kcal a day too little PREOP???
Hello everyone. I'm currently 8 weeks out from the surgery date I have at the moment. I've just decided to start dieting as of a few days ago mostly shakes and tuna/salmon cans and maybe 1 teaspoon of peanut butter. I'm getting around 1000cal per day and maybe 100gm protein. I've cut out carbs and sugars and being quite strict on myself. Am I being too strict? The protein makes me feel full for longer and I'm not craving like I used to? I'm seeing surgeon 4 weeks and really want to show him a good effort on my part!! Thanks for your feedback everyone!
