I feel too guilty to start a million threads of random stuff that goes through my head - noone needs that much Umm Yasmin in their lives, so here it will all be in one glorious thread. Do make one for yourself too, I love reading your posts!

Follow up to: I know this is long, but please read it. I got some big news about my situation
Plus, I'm Australian - we don't really have a suing culture. You can still write letters of complaint to medical board, hospital etc. At the end of the day you have to weigh up risk vs benefit.

Wow, what a huge development. I'm so pleased you got approved for revision surgery! I'd be reluctant to go the malpractice route because I have an allergy to anything involving suing (stress, lawyers, fate in the hands of others ack!).

Well now I have one of those tickedy-boo things, lads! And to my surprise I've lost 40 kilos since my original Lapband in 2009. Half of that is since my gastric bypass surgery in Oct 18. Actually, maybe I'll reset the ticker just to show my bypass weight loss - it's more meaningful to me these days.

After my surgery I'm looking forward to...............
Thought of another one. I want to take a bath where my body doesn't create a suction vacuum behind me, and for water to be able to cover me!

Why don't more people get the MGB? I love mine!
I don't mind being on it, hey, what's another pill right. Although the "for life" thing surprised me coz most peeps here only seem to be on it 6 months or so. I think I better email and ask.

To be honest I can't remember exactly why I'm on it. He talked fast and he was Belgian. But it's definitely there in the doctors notes he gave me for my GP (I took a copy).

General Calorie Intake Post Surgery Question
Everyone eating same calorie load to have same results is an absolute myth. There is so much going on in our metabolisms and unfortunately for us, we won the genetic lottery of being REALLY REALLY good at extracting bang for our buck out of our calories. So the reality is, we are probably going to need fewer calories because our metabolisms just work that way. Increasing exercise helps somewhat because there's a bunch of science about insulin uptake and exercise etc. I think there might be a Peter Attia TED talk about this somewhere.

Hmmm interesting. I wonder why my surgeon wants me on omeprazole for life. I just assumed it was b/c of the potential bile reflux problem.

I do similar. It also allows you to experiment with flavours.

Sounds like a good idea to take a break for a while. I found when I'm high (bipolar here) I get obsessive with twitter and it consumes me so I need to stop cold turkey. It must do something to the wiring in my head. My shrink has a neat trick for when obsessive thoughts are getting to you - everytime you find yourself worrying about weight, scales, food, whatever is giving you brain cooties, then you need to interrupt the neurons that are strengthening that particular brain pathway. It's like you're cutting a groove in a record that the needle will jump into ever more easily. So to interrupt that negative process she has a trick. First one is, count to 100, out loud, as fast as you can without slurring the numbers but literally as fast as you can. You can't think about anything else whilst you're doing that. So it re-directs your neuron firing pattern. The other one is focus on your feet to really concentrate on every little thing you can feel about them. But yeah, maybe give yourself a break from social media for a while. *hugs* Mental stuff is hard!

Did you have symptoms with the bile reflux?

Kidney stone? Who knows?
Thanks [emoji106] yeah I went to my GP before the emergency dept yesterday - it's kinda how it works here. I had stones about ten years ago and it is no joke that is for sure.

NEW RULES
I've just washed a winter coat to give away that I only wore half a dozen times. It's swimming on me now. Plus I put another skirt in my too big pile. I now have no skirts that fit me.
