  1. Good luck with everything. Make sure you let us know how you're doing with everything!
  2. Not that I'm SO FAR ahead of her, but I have to TOTALLY agree!!! I looked at my husband on my second day home and said "I cannot believe I am saying this, but I would almost kill someone for the ability to have a REALLY GOOD fart!" UGH!!! The burping will come SOON.
  3. They're not the best things in the world, but I've been doing the Protein shots too. My surgeon considers them to be a clear liquid. I either have to slam them down, or I have a REALLY LARGE plastic cup that I'll put the shot in and heavily dilute with Water and ice. The ones I bought have 42g of protein in them and I have two of those per day. Other than that it's been toughing it out. It hasn't been TOO TOO bad because my husband was on the road after I was home a few days so I only had to "cook" for my toddler. The last couple days though have been a TOTALLY different story with him firing up the grill. UGH!!! I just keep telling myself "NOTHING tastes as good as being thin feels." Believe me, I repeat it CONSTANTLY.
  4. Y'all are going to be AMAZED at the difference a few more days are going to make. I thought I felt fine three or four days after I got home, so I did a MAJOR house cleaning. OOPS! Let me rephrase that, I tried to do a MAJOR house cleaning. The first bath tub with all the bending at the waist did me in. Plus, my parents kept my son for me for a week. I went and picked him up because my railroader husband was going to be working in the railyard for a few weeks rather than on the road. OOPS! Here I am now 11 days out and I almost feel like nothing was done. I can sleep on my side again (YAY), chase after my almost two year old son AND keep the house in relative order. I even went swimming the last two days. YAY!!!! Honestly, the thing I have the most trouble with now is having to cook for the family. I have been so hungry the last few days that it really is taking all I have in me to not just cheat and have a bite. (Especially yesterday when we had friends over and grilled some Hebrew Nationals!!!) Good luck with it!!!
  5. OK...you're making me glad I didn't go to him afterall! I need my hand held too!!! I've only been to one meeting so far and it was at 10am. Supposedly the next one will be around noon or 1pm. I'll post it once Iget the email for the time and place!!!
  6. I was banded on the 14th, and including what little pre-op diet I have done I am down 22.8!!! (Keep in mind it's been hotter than hades here in Tucson though and I think I've lost a LOT of it in sweat! lol)

Urine Spots...For the life of me I cannot remember the name of it, but Petsmart has this stuff that you can spray on your lawn to help green it up faster. Also, come home every evening and water the spots on the lawn and anywhere else in the grass you think they may have urinated.
  8. UGH!!! I was banded on the 14th and have been SO HUNGRY the last few days to the point of nausea. However, I am down 6lbs from surgery day, 18 in total. YAY!!! Right now I am on Clear Liquids until the Weds. after Memorial Day, then I can add in an egg per day. Day 21 I can start in on soft foods. Who knew I would ever want an egg so bad in my LIFE? lol
  9. I was just banded Wednesday the 14th and I am fairly sure the swelling in my tummy has gone down because I am STARVING. My Dr. has us on a clear liduid diet for two weeks after surgery. (I can start adding an egg per day on day 14.) My question to y'all is how do you cope with being hungry when you're not supposed to eat and others in your house are cooking? My husband made a scrambled egg with toast this morning and it was SO HARD not to have an egg with him!!! HELP!!!!
  10. I agree 100%, this is NOWHERE NEAR as bad as a c/s was on me. I'm a whimp about pain so you can take my word for it. lol. I was just banded on Wednesday and haven't taken any pain meds for two days now, and even then on Saturday I only took a teaspoon of the vicodin twice, Friday I also only took it twice.
  11. HORRAY!!! I bet y'all are excited!!! Two nights might be a little much, but hindsight being 20/20, I sure would have loved that extra day in the fancy hospital bed to get in and out of rather than the recliner or bed at home. LOL
  12. I've been buying all the healthy options for a LONG time now, so we should see our grocery bill start dipping down some as soon as I can eat again. Ever since I learned not to be afraid of ground turkey and brown rice I bought those 99% of the time over the other stuff. Plus, when something that has a good shelf life is on sale, I stock up BIG time.
  13. My Dr told me to take in at LEAST 64oz of water per day, more if I am outside in the heat. However, I'm also only on a clear liquid diet for another 10 days.
  14. I think it depends on your Dr. I know the only stitches I have are the two or three that are holding the band in my muscles. (My surgeon used the super glue type stuff on my incisions.)
  15. I've only had my band a few days but here are the positives so far... 1) I am losing weight 2) Recovery is relatively easy 3) I am learning to have a new relationship with food.
  16. I'm glad you had a great experience!!! How aer you feeling today?
  17. Thanks!!! I try to be funny once in a while. Post-op is going VERY well. I almost feel like a million bucks today. (It's the incisions healing and itching that are driving me INSANE.) I hopped on the scale this morning and I am down 5.8 lbs from surgery day already. YAY!!!
  18. Keep your hopes up. I know we all feel pain at different levels, but I am a whimp of sorts and it really isn't bad at all.
  19. The bariatric coordinator told me to not expect a BM for several days following surgery, and even then it wouldn't be solid. Hope this helps!
  20. YAY!!! Y'all must be getting psyched!!!
  21. OK...I discovered the joys of a warm compress today. It helps a LOT!!!
  22. I lol'd too!!! I really have to say I am amazed at how GOOD I feel!!! I am down 3.8lbs since Wednesday myself. YAY!!!
  23. I was banded on the 14th too and I am still in some pain. One thing I can suggest that helped me a LOT was to put a warm compress over the port site. (And I keep up on my pain meds!!!)
  24. I am under strict post-op instructions to cough several times a day, so it sounds like you shouldn't be too concerned. It's more than likely from the breathing tube.
  25. I was just banded on Wednesday and am SOOOO not regretting it!!! Am I a little sore? Sure, but I have discovered the beauty of a warm compress today so I am up and moving around fairly easily. YAY!!! I also have yet to be hungry and I am still on Clear liquids. My only "negative" is that it's almost 100 degrees here and I can't use my swimming pool until next weekend. lol. I am rather impressed on how it's been so far!!!
