Did you brush your teeth last night?
Yeah, but the point was that if we don't brush our teeth we don't give up on it and call ourselves failures as we would by cheating on the diet. You're right that it's two different things, but I like the point!

Can drink all day!!!!
I just got my band on Wednesday, so I do know what you mean. I think we're not feeling full from it because it just slides right through the band. I think we'll start feeling it once we're eating actual food rather than the liquids. (Believe, it's 100 here and I've gone through a LOT more than 64oz of water today!!!)

I am scheduled for May
That's good advice Judy!!! The only reason I'd say I'm suffering post-op is because my port incision is SORE. UGH. BUT, I'm only 2 days post-op so I don't expect I'll be feeling anywhere close to normal for another week or so. I am finding though that the more I get up and move the less it hurts. I took a five hour nap earlier and when I tried to get up- OUCH!!!! lol.

Post-Surgery Check-In
WOOHOO!!! I haven't been having the spasms, but having a hot cup of tea on the throat does indeed feel SOOOOO good!!! I'm on my second day post-op and feel quite good. I hurt where the port is and that's it. I've been VERY anal about making sure I am sipping Water and my Isopure. I've already got over half my water content down for the day. YIPPEE!!!

Approved by my insurance, YAY!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! That's great news! You can do the 10 day pre-op, I promise. It's HARD, but oh so worth it.

I am now a bonafide Bandster!!!
I got banded on the 14th with Dr. Chaisson down here in Tucson. I'm really surprised at how good I feel. It's just hurting in the port site, and as long as I keep up with my pain meds it's not that bad at all. I've also already dropped 3.4lbs since I was banded. WOOT! (Too bad it won't keep dropping that fast. lol)

Not band related but need help!
There are a few of them around. Terrie's Consign and Design is a popular choice. I'm not sure what their fees are but I do know that they come to your house for you. HTH!!!

Lap Band surgery set for Wed., May 14!!!!!
Same thing here. I hate the doped up jittery feeling, but if I keep the meds going I feel AMAZING!!! It's really just the port site that hurts, and it's SOOOO close to being tolerable without the meds. Hopefully after the weekend I'll be ready to get off of the vicodin. I keep ice Water at my side ALL the time, and it really helps. I keep forgetting about my popsicles, that would feel good on the throat too. I thought I was in heaven last night when I had a couple ounces of the beef broth, the heat of it felt so GOOD!!! So far I have to say the only thing that really sucks is to keep up on using that little breathing exercise thing and the coughing I'm supposed to be doing. D'OH!

May Banders???
Oh holy crap, yeah the hiccups are HORRIBLE!!! I also made the mistake of watching Oprah yesterday where she was featuring some of the America's Funniest Home Videos....laughing sucks right now too! lol. I was just banded on the 14th and other than where the port is, I feel amazingly good. As for the hunger, I haven't really dealt with it yet. I've been sipping constantly on my Protein drink (Isopure) and Water and having broth or Jello three times a day, so far it's working to keep me from being hungry.

3 days POST OP...WOW
Oh yes, those pain killers can be a BEAUTIFUL thing!!!! As for the tolerance, I can tell you that this isn't QUITE as bad as a c-section, but it's still pretty sore. (Mainly where the port is.) Are you having pain in the same spot or all over??? YAY on the 5lbs!

Today is the Day!
Good luck to you!!! I have to leave for the hospital myself in about an hour. EEEEEK!!! We'll do GREAT!

Tomorrow's the day!!
I go in tomorrow too! YIPPEE!!! Y'all are reminding me of things I need to add to my packing list. YIKES! (Along with a pillow to use under the seatbelt.) Good luck all!

What kind of pre-op diet are you on?
My Dr didn't put me on one at all. However, I did the two shakes per day plus a sensible dinner. I wish I knew why there are so many different diets from the Drs. However, if you're following what yours says to do I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!!!

My Fellow May Flowers.... HELP!!!
YAY for being brave! lol. Seriously, from now on once you feel a cold or allergies coming on, use it. I haven't had to use Benadryl more than twice this spring and every other year I've had to take it several times per day. Also, WOOHOO on only having to put it off a week!!!
-
I just got my APPROVAL from UHC !!!!
Congrats Kate!!! It's a bit intimidating once you get the call that insurance approved it isn't it??? You'll be just fine though!
-
The Big day!
GOOD LUCK!!! I become and official bandster tomorrow and I have to say that I TOTALLY agree that this site has made it so much more easier to deal with pre-op jitters. YAY!!! Hope all is going well with y'all!

Surgery this Thursday, 5/15, and freaking out!!!
Iwas kind of feeling the same way you are a couple weeks ago. I let all of those what ifs play through my head then I realized if I DON'T do it, chances are I won't be around in 10 or 15 years anyway. I figured getting the band is MUCH less risky than living the way I am now. KWIM? Good luck on Thursday!!!!!

I'm very nervous - surgery is tomorrow!
I can't wait to read your post surgical response!!! (I get done on Wednesday so it'll be a few days.) Now go home and RELAX!!! Don't worry about a spotess house or laundry and all that. (Yeah I know, WAY easier said than done. lol) Good luck!

I'm very nervous - surgery is tomorrow!
I say blame it on the wonky co-workers. Is there any way you can skedaddle a little early and go home and relax for a bit???

Can I lose 116 lbs??
I met a gentleman on Saturday who had lost 252lbs!!! So I do indeed believe you can lose your 116 and I can lose my 165!!!

I have no tips for you YET. My surgery is set for Wednesday, so anything I learn between then and your surgery I'll pass it along!

Anyone use fake plants/flowers outdoors?
It's Sadam Hussein. lol. Actually, the pink flamingoes crack me up. I do have a few in my backyard. They're cheap "pets" and my son LOVES to rearrange them around the yard for me. (Don't feel like paying the fines my HOA would impose for me having them in front.)
