  1. Submitted to my FEP BCBS on Friday and approved on Wednesday, so 3 working days. However no official call or confirmation letter. I called insurance rep after 2 weeks of waiting and learned the good news.
  2. Usually medications/supplements promoting blood clotting and bleeding during or after surgery are stopped 2-3 weeks before surgery. These include low dose aspirin, multivitamins containing vitamins A, E, D, K, iron. Also blood thinners like warfarin.
  3. I stopped taking my BP meds one week after the surgery because it was dropping my BP too low. My blood pressure has been normal so far. I love my CPAP and I'm not giving it away!
  4. @FluffyChix I use a similar meal planning and for the day with Baritastic app. I log my food and water the night before or in the morning and then adjust/add/remove protein and other macros. In fact, it is very easy to log and monitor my macros.
  5. I used Benadryl cream to relieve the itching.
  6. I asked my surgeon about size of bougie, pain meds during and after surgery, leakage test, when to resume exercises after surgery. Also about liquid diet before surgery.
  7. This is another good book every person who wants to do WLS should read.
  8. I've read it too before surgery. Good book

  10. Congratulations!!!! So impressive! What a great news!
  11. @Frustr8 you can edit your surgery info by using browser on your Android (Internet Explorer or Chrome) instead of BP application. Log in to www.bariatricpal.com in your browser and edit your info. Hope it helps.
  12. Omg that was quite an experience, sorry you had to go through this. On the other side I admire your resilience. You are a hero! You won that battle and you're alive and well. I wish you steady recovery. I'm sure you'll feel much better in few days.
  13. Orange stools are often caused by eating red or orange foods. Supplements containing beta-carotene and aluminum hydroxide can turn stools orange. A lack of bile salts is one medical reason that can cause orange stool (from Google).
  14. Pureed: baby food, Greek yogurt Oikos triple zero, Fage 0%, refried Beans, Progresso lentil and split Soups (highest po protein content), PB Fit powder and dried milk powder to make smoothies with Protein Powder. Mashed cauliflower, avocado, banana. Canned tuna, salmon, chicken to mix with light mayo, egg salad, sweet potatoes, applesauce, cottage cheese. I also cooked a lot of chicken and turkey breast cutlets in crockpot and froze it to eat later.
  15. Forgot to add unsweetened applesauce and cottage cheese

  18. From submitting my paperwork to apply for WLS program to surgery 7 months. FEP BCBS insurance. 3 months of medically supervised diet. It took long for me because of availability of appointments to see necessary providers.
  19. I'm so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you. Praying for you and your family.
  20. Yay, that day has come! Congratulations and good luck! See you on the losers side.
  21. I had VSG too, my first major surgery at the age of 62. It's normal to have anxiety before surgery but anesthesia will take care of that. My surgery was 50min but they knocked me out so good that I slept 11hrs afterwards. Got a good night sleep and lots of rest, stayed there less than 24hrs and went home. Good luck to you and see you on the losers side!
  22. To prevent blood clots
