  1. I had green pee for the longest time after surgery....almost a week. The surgeon said it was indeed the blue dye that is used.
  2. Great ideas!! I always check the paper, but will now visit the Goodwill's and go to more garage sales. :biggrin1: Thanks!!
  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUBBAME!!
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRISH!!
  5. I only have Pilate's DVD's...which gives me a headache, taebo...which I loved to do until I got too big, and an exercise band. I always thought I wanted an elliptical machine since I thought it was easier on your knees. Now, I guess I should reconsider. So many of you seem to prefer the treadmills. How do your knees hold up? Are they sore after exercising?

I took Ambien CR b4 the band, but it kicks my butt now. I don't want to wake up for some reason. I guess my body is going through some changes and regrouping after surgery. My surgeon recommended plain Benedryal. I have never had any symptoms of withdrawal from the Ambien CR, so perhaps I can go back on it someday. For now, it's the Benedryal.
  7. So where are all the NASCAR fans? I got kind of bored Sunday when Tony was taken out early. I hope his shoulder will still be O.K. How about that cute Kasey Kahne? My goodness, that little kid has taken 3rd place in the standings. My little brother has now taken him as his driver. He hasn't had one since Bill Elliott left. Bristol is my favorite track, but next Sun we will be going to a road course which is a close second to being a favorite. There is just something about those tracks I love. Well, if any of you fans are still out there.....let me know what you think of the recent weeks. :director:
  8. I haven't had much time to post lately, but you ALL have been in my prayers. Stay strong and remember that HE is in control.
  9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DrewsLou

YEAH Leener!!! Somehow, I just felt that in my heart. I can feel your excitement and relief!!! I am just so thrilled to hear you say those words (or at least read them). Stay positive and now you can put all your effort into the band. :biggrin1:
  11. Debi ~ My surgeon tended to encourage RNY over lapband as well b/c a lot of patients fail to follow the rules. It's a matter of having a clear understanding of what it takes to work the band and be willing to make the changes. The way I made the decision was coming to grips with the fact that no matter what WLS I chose, I still had to make changes in the way I ate and the way I viewed food. People fail at RNY and lapband b/c they fail to make changes and make those changes permanent. It takes work either way. For me personally, I liked the fact that I could have a tool, the lapband, to help me make those changes with minimal surgery that could be totally reversed with little complications if necessary. I am the mother of 2 small children and want more someday.....the less risk the better. Like others have already said, it is a personal decision you have to make. This site is VERY pro-band for obvious reasons. It does work if you are willing to make the changes. It is up to you to do the research and ask LOTS of questions. I got down on my knees and prayed. I had no reservation this was for me and had total peace with my decision. I will pray for the Lord to guide your steps in making such a huge life-changing decision. I wish you the very best. Keep in touch and let us know what you decide. You are always welcome here regardless of what surgery you choose.
  12. Holy Cow!! You've been through enough for 2 lifetimes. Bless your heart!! I hope you are now on the upward swing. Did you have your surgery in Cincy? I am very interested in your surgeon. Who was she/he? How many bands have they placed? Where was this horrible hospital? This should have never happened to you and from what you have described, could have been avoided. I would definitely be looking for another surgeon ASAP. The level of care your rec'vd was unacceptable. Find someone else for your aftercare. You will be glad you did.
  13. I just had them myself. I chewed a GasX and they were gone almost immediately. Good luck.

Glad to hear your surgery experience was somewhat pleasant (at least for surgery that is). I've had 2 epidurals when I delivered my babies and I would do it again in a heartbeat. We will continue to lift you in prayer. Keep your chin up and stay positive!!! You are going to be fine!!! :biggrin1:
  15. CLOE ~ I just had my check-up on Mon and my surgeon said the same thing. I'm to start eating the solid foods until I'm full that way we can see how I react to determine if a fill is necessary. Since I've only been on liquids, we can't really determine the need of a fill. I get full easy even with soft foods so at this point, I'm thinking it will be a while for a fill. I am OK with that. Kim ~ It's great to hear from you!! Glad your doing well....I've lost 12 lbs too. :biggrin1: Did you get the food lists I sent? I hate taking pills too & get that stuck feeling. Laurapar started a thread about this.... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19680. Seems a few of us are experiencing this. Talk about your band soreness....I have been doing great in this area until last night. I heard my cat outside getting into a fight and jumped up so fast I felt my port pull. It seems to be fine today, but it was sore last night. Cat is fine too. Poor thing ran in the house & her tail was about 3 times it's regular size and her eyes were about to pop out of her head. Trip2bme ~ I love your enthusiasm. You are a great inspiration and much appreciated!!
  16. I'm a Hoosier transplant....orginally a Buckeye. I live in NE IN and had my surgery at St. Vincent's in Indy/Carmel. Where are you from? Where are you having your surgery done?
  17. Hi Teresa ~ Most programs include both things you mentioned, a nutritionist and some sort of exercise program in addition to a nurse. I see the nutritionist EVERY time I have an appt with the surgeon. Also, most do offer monthly support groups where you can talk with others face to face. I was the only lap band person when I attended, so I use this place for my support. Eventually, I would like to see them get a monthly support group for lap band patients....we'll see. Good luck and keep asking questions. Be a sponge and absorb as much as you can. I strongly believe success with the band comes from knowledge. Arm yourself with as much as you can.
  18. Yup...I have a benign arrhythmia. It was discovered years ago when I had a physical for basketball. I think I was barley a teenager. I don't have any symptoms unless I'm extremely stressed or overly tired. I required a stress test b4 my lap band surgery and passed with flying colors. My cardiologist wanted me to go on meds, but I hate taking pills and talked him into waiting a couple months to see how much losing weight will benefit me. He agreed only b/c it was very minor. I'm newly banded so the verdict is still out for me.
  19. I can sooo relate to this. At first, I was shocked my mom seemed so supportive and then when she realized I was serious, her tune changed. Keep in mind my mom has been overweight as long as I can remember.....she told me all I had to do was push the plate away. WHAT?!?! I didn't understand where this was coming from. Eventually, it came out that she was concerned for my well-being and was scared and the biggest reason was b/c she didn't know much about the band and none of her friends did either. I offered to share info and websites with her. She didn't want to know. I told her that I've already made my decision and I had total peace about it AND I wasn't asking her to agree with my decision, but would like to know she would support me regardless. She did warm up to the idea a bit. The day b4 my surgery, while talking to her on the phone, she said she was going to call to her "nurse friend" and if she had bad things to say about the band, she was going to call me and tell me not to do it. Now, telling me NOT to do something is like saying sick-em to a dog....it doesn't sit well with me. I told her not to bother, it was a DONE deal. I had given this careful thought & prayer....I would go forward no matter what. A couple weeks ago she told me she was going to be jealous if I started losing a lot of weight. I told her it would be good for her to get motivated and I hope we could lose weight together. The bottom line with moms is that they care for us, yet sometimes their opinions are very complicated.....at least with my mom. Good luck and put trust and faith in yourself and your ability to make sound decisions for yourself. Keep your mom informed and let her know she is and will always be important in your life, but you are capable of making wise choices.
  20. Penni ~ I just tried to send $$ via PayPal & they say that e-mail isn't registered. Do you use another e-mail for PayPal?
  21. I have this feeling as well. It is only when I take my Effexor. I used to take the capsules and had to switch to the 75 mg twice a day. The pills aren't coated and I think it may rub my throat or something of the sorts....I don't think is actually gets "stuck". Hey Laura, is it with all pills or just certain ones? If your like me, you keep drinking b/c it feels like water would help it. It does eventually go away. :phanvan
  22. Penni ~ I'm so glad you let us know about this. We will definitely pray for her. Please tell her we're thinking about her and want her back posting as soon as she is up to it. She adds so much to LBT. I would like to go in on the flowers. Do you take PayPal? I could also use snail mail. Let me know.
  23. I was able to eat 2 slices of bread & butter pickles with the skin. I chewed & chewed....no problems. I don't think I would want to eat too many though. Everything in moderation.
  24. Linda ~ I was going to try some turkey breast tonight.....maybe I'll hold off. I'm a bit scared after your experience. Glad to hear that you are doing better. Bless you heart....pamper yourself. Trip2beme ~ I "try" to eat slowly and stop when I'm full. Maybe I should try the timer thing to make sure I go slow. DeAnn ~ Are you only able to eat 1 oz per meal? Put a lot of thought into getting a fill if you are that restricted. Great NSV on the 3 yr old clothes....that must feel wonderful!! :biggrin1: Thanks for the info on your yard. I will pass that info along.
