  1. You know, if this person is doing this on a WLS site, it seems to me they may be a troll. I did not even know what one was until this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19059&page=3 Some people really do thrive off the fact that they have upset you. DON'T give them the satisfaction. Read the link above and all will become clear. This was a troll causing trouble, not someone looking for support or giving it. Can I just say :wow2: at your weight loss. I only hope to be as successful one day. Keep your chin up and don't let these kind of trolls get you down. You have better things to do with your time!!!
  2. I recently joined the YMCA and discovered that exercise is a good natural colon cleanser. :biggrin1:
  3. I was all ready for some great recipes!! :phanvan Oh well, will continue to stay away from the pasta. Thanks for the laughs. :biggrin1:
  4. I agree wholeheartedly!! The same person that judged me has been a member of just about every weight loss group and still cannot "keep" the weight off not to mention, they have used the "patch" to quit smoking. Oh, they still smoke to this day. Go figure. Oh well, I love LBT!!!
  5. YEAH Leener!!! So was the experience of a fill what you thought? Did he numb it....any bruises? The beach sounds great!!
  6. Hey Drews ~ What kind do you have? I got the shuffle b/c after Microsoft intro's their new one, the prices are going to come way down. Glad to hear you like yours so well. I will let you know how much I love mine after I get the chance to use it. The lady at Wal-Mart said she had just sold 4 of them during her shift and I got the last one b4 the one on display. I don't need an adapter afterall. My DH showed me where I can easily hook it up in the back of my computer. I wonder if other Dell owners run into this same problem....a topic for a different thread perhaps. Where are you DeAnn / mychevygirl ??? Miss you!!!
  7. I bet that was it....will try the 2%....thanks!!
  8. Cottage cheese pancakes....I'm going to try them. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. BTW, I tried the Breakstone brand and didn't care for it AT ALL. YUCK. I still think Dean's is the best from what I've tried so far. Maybe I got a bad batch of the Breakstone, but will wait awhile b4 I try again. I just love Dean's so much. :hungry:
  9. We always called thongs "Butt Floss". Isn't that the purpose of them? As far as the boobs, after nursing 2 kids, this is what they look like. A lift is definitely in my future....after we're done having kids of course.
  10. Good News.....I lost:lost3lbs:this week!!! :clap2: It feels so much better to go this direction. I didn't change my ticker last week for my 1 lb gain, I couldn't bear it so I'll only be adding 2 this week. I worked out at the Y on Thurs, Fri, Sat of last week and Tues of this week. I'm also going to workout tonight. I love it and even bought an iPod. The only thing is, it doesn't fit into my Dell USB port. I guess I need an adapter. Oh well, one more time without music and I'll have that adapter. Great job Brenda!! justduckie ~ Hey, you dropped 3 last week and were on vacation this week. I think your doing great!!! I could never do a marathon and don't care for the thought anyway.....I do admire you for taking the challenge.....you can do it!!! LindaV ~ Steady as a rock. You go girl!!! Drews ~ You lost 4 sticks of butter. Nothing to sneeze at. It will start to melt off if you stick to it the exercise. BTW, watch that ring. I took mine off and put them on a necklace. Funny lost her's b/c they fell off.
  11. A couple more pics.....I will take the camera with me tonight.
  12. Actually, my boys have always loved the Water and we bought a 10'x3' pool last year. They were in it all summer last year and some this year. My youngest has shown some fear. He makes a V when they try to get him to float....front or back. He just turned 4. He has even done this at home. I guess he's fearful of losing control for some reason. I want to thank you for prompting me to become more aware of the training. I now have a call into the Red Cross to discuss some of this issues you have brought to light.....very much appreciated!! :biggrin1: Here are some more pics.....
  13. Jenna ~ They do not use ARM floaties, it's the kind that goes around their waist. Here's what they look like and they are very loose. Are these bad too? Should I be concerned that they use these frequently? They certainly don't swim yet however, both of my boys are showing progress after only 3 lessons. I appreciate your feedback and anyone else with thoughts/experience to share. Funny ~ I bet that mom has changed her ways. I'm sure a near drowning is enough to cause anyone to make life changes.....I sure hope she did. So sad the hear you've have witnessed the loss of life b/c of Water. I'm sure it is just heartbreaking. I hope I never have to experience it whether it be mine or someone else's.
  14. I had to cancel the Schwan man. My DH would certainly get something that would tempt me and I would use the kids for justification. Not strong enough for the Schwan man. :phanvan
  15. So very sorry for the loss of Mouse. :cry Follow your heart and I'm sure you will find the appropriate resting place for him. He will always be in your heart regardless.
  16. Oh Jenna, I have tears rolling down my cheeks. I can't imagine the horror for that mother & family as well as yourself. You have shared my deepest fear. We have a beach close to us and I refuse to take my kids w/o my DH b/c I can only watch one at a time in that type of Water. When we were smaller, we were members of a lake club and frequently went swimming with mom watching over us. There was a lifeguard, but she trusted her instincts and watched all us kids. Well, my little bro FELL off the high dive (still don't know how it happened b/c he was experienced and had done it many times) but he bounced off the deck and my mom was in the water and had gotten to him b4 the lifeguard KNEW what was going on. She was too busy talking to a friend. Lifeguards are not perfect, but their mistakes are NOT going to cause the life of my child b/c I will be there watching diligently as my mother did. I will definitely be following up on the Y thing as I will be there EVERY time watching my own kids. I'm still in shock that it took a phone call from me to change this policy. Unfortunately, I have no other options for lessons and they do use the floaties. You have prompted me to do more research on the subject and perhaps another change is in order for our YMCA. One thing I can say for them, a mistake was made and they acted upon it for the good and safety of the children. I give credit for that. This has been an eye opening experience to not be so trusting where water is concerned. Thank you for this and perhaps a life will be saved from your terrible experience.
  17. Think so huh? :huggie: Name the date & time & we'll be there!! :boxing: Great sense of humor!!
  18. Definitely music to my ears and brings a smile and often a giggle to my own self. Too bad about your own mother though.....I understand from the threads I read. :cry Speaking of kids, have you seen this one? Too funny and so true of kids.

I know your world. I have sold new cars for 2 different dealerships during my working years....now a SAHM. BTW, I loved the poem and it's so true. I sold Cadillac & Olds in FL and then I sold Chevy & Hyundai in OH. I LOVED it and wasn't a bit intimidated by the guys. I loved showing them up. I had only been at the dealership in OH for 2 wks and was awarded the Highest Commission of the week. You should have seen those guys. It was great. I love the auto world, but it takes so much time from your personal life. If it wasn't for that aspect, I would be doing it now, it's such a rush. Most men at dealerships are pigs with a few sweeties thrown into the mix. So how many guys do you work with? How long have you been selling? You go girl and show them your stuff......sell your panties off and get those HUGE commissions!!!
  20. :update: The head swim instructor came and talked to me this evening b4 class to let me know the YMCA is now implementing a new policy for the kids after class. Since they pick up the kids on the bleachers, the teachers will now get out of the pool and escort the students back to the bleachers. They will not be allowed to go anyway except the bleachers until their parents come to get them. She said this type of thing has never happened b4 and I was right that my son could have been at the bottom of the pool when know one knew where he was for that short period of time. I told her this is what they do at preschools and such & she definitely agreed.....she is also a mommy of 5 kids. She was really warm and friendly and has been from the start. After we talked, she stood up and announced the new policy to the parents so everyone knows what to expect. I am so thankful this policy has been officially changed as it could save a precious little life. In addition to this, I finally got my son's teacher to talk to me. She even smiled. I walked past her sitting in a chair and commented that I was glad we weren't late. She said we had plenty of time and asked if Bobby was ready. She also spoke to me again when she brought the kids down to the 10 ft Water. I hope she's warming up, but I've got my eyes on my kids. Maybe after a few more pounds, I will join my boys is the open pool. :tea: Overall, things are now going really well and I see progress each time with my boys. I'm so proud of them. :biggrin1: Sorry if that's too much bragging, they are just too cute.
  21. You hit the nail on the head!! :mod: In my eyes, bypass does not force you to make good choices b/c your stomach rules over your head every time. With the band, I can eat that ice cream, but it's up to me to make good choices that will last a lifetime, not just 1 yr or 3 yrs down the road. These are or should be permanent changes. I would venture to say that lapband patients have been more successful overcoming the addiction of food that the bypass patients. Maybe I'm completely off target, but that's how I see it. If I'm wrong, take me to the light. :tea:
  22. I find this article very interesting (not that I would have read it outside of here) in that it is so biased to bypass and not very objective. Look at this first sentence and notice how they seem to glorify bypass and yet make the lapband seems like putting a rubber band on the stomach and that's it....end of story for the band. Although technically more challenging, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, a common type of stomach bypass operation, provides greater weight loss in severely obese patients than does placing a plastic band around the stomach to make it smaller, new research shows. It is MORE than a plastic band and it serves a bigger purpose than to make the stomach smaller, like create a pouch that SLOWLY allows food to flow through. Let's see, they could have said a silicon band with an interior for saline fill as needed. If this article is actually based on a 30 day study, it makes it rather humorous. Come on people.....show the entire picture. What about 3 yrs later, 10 yrs later? Also, I wonder if they will do research on how surgeons educate their patients. :tea: I have a feeling a higher successful outcome would be achieved. Most of the success for a lapband patient lies within that individual, but surgeons do have a responsibility to know EXACTLY what life is like after the band and be able to prepare the patient and offer support afterward. This information is vital for patients considering weight loss surgery, Ferzli told Reuters Health, "because proper patient and procedure selection, proper follow-up, and proper long-term support are quite important in achieving the desired outcome." I'm convinced you can look the net over and find anything you want to say whatever you want to justify your view point. People need to do their own research and do what they feel is best for them.
  23. I wanted to quote you on this b/c I think it's important to point out that this will not go away with the band. The band does not fix the emotions and feelings we have inside. Yes, it does help with the physical hunger, but it's still up to you to work on "YOU". There have been some wonderful words of wisdom shared here and I think you realize your not alone. We have all been there or going to be at the place you are now. Be strong and realize you DESERVE this!!! BTW, I would have to tell my mom b/c she would KILL me if I had scheduled surgery without telling her. Perhaps you should give some thought to telling your mom. Maybe that would ease the loneliness.
  24. This reminds me of the smell of corn when it's tasseled. I moved out of state in my early 20's and didn't realize that was the smell of home until I went back for a visit. We even played in the corn fields as kids. I'm proud to be a country girl!!
  25. I definitely prefer SparklePeople over FitDay. It's much easier to navigate. Like others, I get way too many e-mails from them. My delete button works just fine and if it gets too bad, they will go on my Blocked Sender list.
