  1. Congrats Fanny! That is awesome! Keep up the fantastic work.
  2. Congrats and good luck to all of you! Enjoy your journey!
  3. liquids you can have after being banded. I am on Clear Liquids, popsicles and broth only. I don't see the Dr. until Thursday. But I am so hungry that I want to lick my daughters food! How awful does that sound! Just a lick thats all. Did anyone else feel like this? :leaving: I called my nutritionist and she was out but the receptionist at the Dr.s office told me absolutly NO protien shakes yet. I had one last night because I had the shakes and was week. I won't be able to last the 2 weeks on this stuff only. Any suggestions?
  4. Talk to her about what it is like being your size. Talk about the band have her ask questions. Ask if she is afraid of loosing ya'lls freindship because of you loosing weight. She might feel this and don't know how to deal with it. Just Talk
  5. Congrats and good luck on your journey
  6. Young, I am so with you on this. I have never been thin and am daydreaming of the clothes I will be able to wear. Yet I am afraid of them at the same time. I have always had to wear "older clothes" cause growing up they did'nt have fat girls clothes and had to buy out of the womens department. I am afraid I might dress to young for my age. I'll be 50 next year. But It will seem strange not being afraid to sit down because the chair might break, or no more dirty looks at a resturant when people think cause your fat you will eat till it is all gone. No I fully understand. It's hard for my kids to understand that wearing shorts will be a joy! Good luck on your journey Young and have fun doing it!
  7. it sounds like your on your way. I am self paid so I did'nt have to have all these other approvals. I just did low carb diet for 2 weeks. Had my surgery Tuesday. The best decision for me.
  8. I think Lunabean has the right idea. They have to be told something and saying it is for health reasons is an excelent idea. I almost died when my kids were 11,6,3. I had emergency surgery and was in the hospital for over a month. They are all grown up now but still has issues. They all have their own family but if they don't hear from me or I decide to take a detour they get really antsy and call me immediatly. So they have to be told something. It's scary for kids and the more they know the better they are. So take your time and decide how to tell them and how much. You know your kids and what they can handle.
  9. HI Kimi, I am from Huntsville also. I was banded Tuesday the 13. Dr. Groves done mine. He is From Albertville. He himself has the lapband. So I was extremely comfortable with him. He can answer questions from experience! Good luck with yours. If you want to talk just send me a message. Maybe we can become walking buddies or something.
  10. I am self pay also and after paying out that much I won't fail! Also in order to mess up the band and have slippage you have to be throwing up a lot from my understanding. Before the first fill and after mushies I was told by my dietician it is easy to try to overeat. but soon as you feel full you STOP eating or you can bp, or throw up. to much throwing up is'nt good. The fear of failing is pretty normal from my understanding. I felt it and feel it now since I was banded on tuesday. I feel like I am starved and think just 1 bite of food. But I know better. The first 2 weeks and each step up to 6 weeks post op is like that for a reason. I have to be creative. I pray success for you and you get it done.
  11. good luck John and wife! Why do it separatley? Have fun and do it together if insurance will permit it.
  12. your surgery is done laying down. It depends on your dr weather or not you take off your panties or not. The stuff they put on your stomach will stain your clothes. This is not a time for modesty, this is the time for a new you! good luck.
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I pray everything goes right for you. I was banded Tuesday. The best decision I have ever made. (other than being saved) I to have been fat all my life. Kids are horrible in school. I haven't been to a single class reunion because of all of the bad memories. But I will attend the next reunion and forgive ignorances. Just keep faith that you will be approved.
  14. I don't know. I was wondering the same thing. I was banded Tues. the 13th. I heard my stomach growl this morning (I thought) could just be me cause I am tired of clear liquids and popcycles already. good luck
  15. I would call and ask my dr. to be safe. good luck
  16. here is a couple of tips for people have post-op gas pains in their shoulders. My dr told me to lay on the floor or my bed with my feet proped upon the wall. This helps move the gas around some how. What I found out that helps in my shouldres is rolling my shoulders one at a time for a few seconds. that has helped a lot. Plus don't forget to WALK! good luck eeryone
  17. well I got banded yesterday. I feel great! just a little sore. on my way to a new me!
  18. sorry I got carried away, my dr. told me to put my feet upon the wall or headboard. It helps the gas travel around. kinda like when a baby is gasy and you lift their little legs and kinda push them to help with gas.
  19. :smile:I was banded yesterday, no real problems. Gas isn't to bad right now. I can't wait to start looking better!
  20. Thank you all for your support. Good luck NY2. I am the first one this morning. I will be banded at 7.30 I am just waiting to go to the hospital.:biggrin2:
  21. Well Andy I am in Albertville this a.m. I get my band at 7.30. As I said before we have the same dr. I think dr. Groves is awesome. How are you doing with your band? Have a great day:cool2:
  22. CONGRATS Aubry! That is onderful! (get it?)
  23. Hi everyone. I am getting banded tomorrow. I have 1 question I forgot to ask my Dr. How soon before I can excersize (other than walking)? I have the Red and Gazzel. Does anyone have either of these? If so how long before you used them? Thanks.
  24. Thank you Daisy Mae for your story. Congrats on the weight loss. You've done awsome. I have my LB tomorrow. I cheated yesterday a little. My Dr put me on no carb for 2 weeks. Told me I could cheat a little but not to overdo it. So all together cheated 2 times. On my daughter's b-day and yesterday. I think if everyone is honest probably most of us has cheated on pre-op diet. Keep up the great job!
  25. Hi everyone. I am so excited my big day is tomorrow! I am #1 to have it done in the morning by my Dr. Can't waite for a new me to start to emerge. Because of ya'lls voice I knew what to ask and to look forward to. Thanks!
