any Trykke riders out there?
Hello all. I am wanting to get a Trykke. How do you all like it and do you think they are worth the price? Also any serious injuries? My kids and sister seem to think I will kill myself on it! I used to skateboard some when I was young. Nothing fancy but....I did'nt kill myself then!

Almost one month out .. need opinions ..
I understand. I just called my Dr.s office to find out if I can mow my yard. I don't want to pay someone to mow it again. Good luck

having problems slowing down when eating
I can empathize(sp) with you on the eating to fast. I am not on solids yet, but I worry I will eat to fast I have almost always had jobs where you eat between customers and you don't really chew your food. It is so ingrained in me that I am afraid I'll try it and get sick. So basically I am kinda afraid of going on solids now.

First problem...
Drew, first of all congrats on your decision to get the LB. Second it is YOUR life, YOUR decision, not your family or freinds. I hate it that your brother feels this way. Chances are he is frightened of you doing this on many levels. He may loose 5lbs or 50 lbs, but that don't mean he won't gain twice as much back and sooner than he thinks. Give him pamplets heck have him check out this web site! But whatever you do, DON'T let anyone discourage you from doing it. Good luck on your journey and my prayers are with you.

Can't stop eating!
guilty also. It was bad enough when I quit smoking, I was 273. I quit smoking in Sept. (stopped because this surgery was more important to me.) scales started to creep up, After New Years I started eating everything topped out at 309. But like you I wanted everything I thought I would never have again. But I am banded and on my way. Good luck to you.

Any May Bandsters?
Hello all of you May bandsters. I am also a May bandster 13th to be exact. Ya'll have done great on the weight loss. I seem to be salling just a little as far as the scales goes.(weigh 2 times a week) but what made me feel so good was today after I got my shower and got dressed I noticed my panties felt a little loose but thought naw...Went to grocerie store and had to keep pulling them up! LOVED IT!! Came home and opened a pack that I bought pre surgery.! So don't forget sometimes the scales may stay the same but your body tells you different things! Have a wonderful LB journey!

Group Insurance to Individual Insurance
Hello LucyMae. I have had a very simular problem. I am on Cobra (but self paid the surgery). I wanted to get short term insurance, because Cobra is so expensive, but was denied because the LB is considered a pre existing condition. Even tho I have Cobra it is a no go. I have checked several different insurances. Good luck

Diet Guidelines
Hey Andy, I am having trouble with my Water since I have been banded. I love water and never had a problem drinking it. I used to drink 60 oz at work and come home and drink another 16 oz or more. Now with me sipping I am lucky to get in 32 oz. I just am not craving water anymore. I have always craved ice-cold water, even as a kid. Now I am forcing myself to drink it. I have flavors and all that stuff, not helping.

3 weeks post op
Sherrie, it is very normal> I am almost 3 weeks. I slip a mushie in now. Just don't overdo it. I went for more than a mushie and got sick last night. Daughter fried chicken and I had a bite. That was good. Then I put up the food, that was bad... I took several more bites... I could have really screwed up. Just be careful and nothing unless it is a mushie and not much.

Anyone from Alabama ?
Hi Patricia. Welcome. I am from huntsville and My Dr. Is John Groves/ His partner is Stephen Britt. They are In Albertville. But they have offices in Madison, and Guntersville. Dr.Groves (my dr.) also has been banded. So anything I ask he can answer from experience. There are a lot of people from Bama. Several who have also used the same drs. I did. I have been banded 2 1/2 weeks and am so happy! I am sorry about your brother-in-law. I looked into gastric but said no way.. I researched lapband for a year, and knew this was for me. Only you can answer wich is right for you. Any questions that I can answer I will. Just look thru the sight and ask questions. This is full of info. Good luck Patricia.

anyone eating tv dinners for their meals?
Thank you all for your input. It has helped a lot. I had thought about making my own TV dinners. I just can't cook small portions. When I try to cook small, it is still big! I don't know... Maybe I can talk to my church and maybe give the extra to shut-ins. At least until I learn to cook small. Maybe I don't need to cook small after all!

June 11th, the first day of the rest of my life
Congrats on your surgery date. I was asleep before they put the tube in and asleep when they took it out, It did'nt bother me any, but everyone is different. I had an easy recovery time also. My worst part was in the hospital after surgery I had a moriphine headache and nuasia. The nurse gave me a shot in the leg and I was feeling all better in a few minutes. I went home that afternoon. I took one pain pill and that has been it. Except my 4th day out and my 23 month old grandaughter jumped off the chair onto me. She really done a number on my port. Other than that It has been good. Don't forget to get Gas-X strips. They help with the gas pain. Good luck on your LB journey and God Bless.
